Matty Fryatt will score 20+ this season!

I've never seen a better finisher before, he's far too good for League 1, Premiership player, future England international.

These are all quotes that I've heard from Leicester fans since January 2006.

:crylaugh: I do hope your joking! I know hes performing well! But how many championship goals has he scored!?

Also remember Freddy Eastwood scoring loads a few seasons ago in this division? Wheres he now?

None of us know if Fryatt is going to score goals regularly at a higher level than League One. It's easy for people to be cautious after his abysmal 2 seasons before this one. But then again, we are watching a completely different Fryatt this season, so it's beyond me that people can be sure he isn't good enough for anything other than League One.

The lad was fat, unfit and his confidence was shot to pieces. Not excuses, as there isn't any excuses for being like that for nearly 2 full seasons. But this season, he is fit, injury free and confident and the goals are flying in.

I have tried to pay special attention to the way he is playing right now to see why he get's the goals he is scoring, looking hopefully for something that can convince me he could do it at a higher level. There are moments of pure quality from Fryatt, that even against a better calibre of defender would still trouble them. But there's also parts to his game that a higher standard of opposition will snaffle out.

Fryatt as a one on one finisher and general easy chances, he's hopeless at. His first touch and then shoot, is what's setting him apart right now. He'll always get chances at whatever level he plays at. It's obviously a worry that if a player can't score the 'easy' chances then he'll make things difficult for himself, especially when the standard of opposition get's better and the amount of chances reduced.

But the way he is going about his business this season, the lad deserves another crack at a higher level and hopefully with us. If we are in a stronger position as a team if and when we get promoted, then there's no reason why Fryatt can't perform. At 22, he should by rights, only get better.

I'm delighted we've got him and it's nice to finally have a striker that is very prolific, irrespective of what level we are currently playing at. In the 18 years i've been following Leicester, there's only been Tommy Wright, Iwan Roberts and Paul Dickov that have got near 20 league goals in a season (apologies if i've forgotten anyone, Walsh nearly did it actually didn't he?). It's nice to have a player who after half a season is almost reached that elusive figure.

If we can't afford the risk of offering him a suitable contract then I can't see the point in having someone like Mandaric owning the club as far as I'm concerned he's only here because he has some ready cash.

19 goals before christmas.

Surely that's good enough to warrant a decent contract offer. If we lose him in January, our chances of going up will decrease greatly.

I don't care what you Fryatt haters say. He's now scoring regularly, but that still isn't good enough for some people. What do you Fryatt haters want from him?

I'd love to see the Fryatt haters do better than the "chosen one" ( )

I'm not saying that Fryatt is the best player in the world, or that he's some kind of hero, as he still has a lot of flaws to his game but he's done a good job this season, which people are still failing to realise, due to last seasons poor show.

I know his fans go over the top sometimes, but this season he is imperative to our promotion chances. 19 goals and 8 assists is excellent to attain before December. Some will go on about the last two seasons, and they have a point, but he's been, on the whole, excellent since August 9.

There are many other clubs in this division who would want a striker who can score plenty and create goals as well.

Last season he was crucified and to a degree rightly so. He was not up to the job for various reasons, and that goes for the whole team. Only Kisnorbo and Hume pulled their weight last season.

This year, however, I fail to see what people have against him. His biggest crime seems to be his failure to score every chance. If he did so, he wouldn't be playing League 1 football.

Whether Fryatt has found his level or just found new form and confidence is anyone's guess. We just have to wait and see.

He's not as godly as everyone thinks, don't get me wrong.

There are still parts of his game he can improve on greatly, but due to a bad season last year people are slating him, as he was billed to be something that he clearly wasn't. You should never expect anything, as you'll always end up disappointed. These people who had high expectations, were left disappointed in him, and now have a vendetta against him because of this. Yet they fail to realise that Fryatt wasn't the only player who failed to produce the goods.

Whilst he's our player, whose playing with confidence, we need to support him.

Bert is spot on.

I've said before that last season, like many of our players, Fryatt was a victim of the environment he was working under. No consistency, changing managers, turmoil on and off the field.

Now he has a manager that backs him, a side that creates chances for him in a league that can't handle him.

19 goals and how many assists? He deserves all the credit he gets.

If Fryatt doesn't sign a new contract, I can see the suicide rate rising by at least 300% in Leicester.

Behave.

This club and its fans survived the loss of Lineker and Heskey, both far better strikers than Fryatt will ever be.

I don't think Ched was being serious.

Even if he goes on to score 40+ this season, Fryatt still won't reach the status of a City legend.

He'd have to prove himself as a consistent goalscorer at a higher level first.

IF......

We were in the Championship and saw this Fryatt guy scoring 19 gaols with 8 assists for a team in division 3 this forum would be awash with people saying sign him up whatever it costs. :dunno:

You forget most Leicester fans are fickle boneheads.

Can we print posters saying "I am a fickle bonehead"?

We could hold them up before matches :D

Look closely at the home shirt, just below the badge in very small faint writing... it says "Bonehead for life".

I won't be happy until he's scored ONE MILLION GOALS.

Iain Hume would have scored 30 by now.

That's one of the few facts of life.

lol Nobody suggested he would be.

By running around like a headless chicken?

Well, not headless, but a broken head.

You know what I mean.

With or without a broken head, Hume is better than Fryatt in pretty much every aspect of the game.

I know you don't like Hume very much, and I can understand that he can be a frustrating fella who gets on your tits now and then, but the lad would rip this tinpot league a new arsehole.
