Talking in your sleep...

Recommended Posts

I have been told by various people that i talk in my sleep, on a regular basis. My Brother and my Mum tell me that they are woke up, more or less every night because i am talking in my sleep.

They tell me things that i have said and i find it really quite interesting. At the same time i am worried that i might, uncontrollably, say something, whilst asleep that i wished i hadn't lol

I've told them to try and record me Talking in my sleep so i can listen to myself. Does anyone else know if they talk in there sleep?

Also, when I'm in a Nightmare or a dream that i am not liking very much i can tell myself to wake up, i close my eyes in the dream and a few seconds later i am awake.

I can not really control the dream itself or manipulate it in anyway only at the point when i say enough is enough!

Can anyone else do this? or even control their own dreams? I really do find this sort of thing interesting.

I have talked in my sleep for years, its pretty common, some of the things I have come out with have been quite funny! (from what i was told)

I remember once, being in Tenerife with a friend was drunk got back to the apartment, he told me that I sang the whole of 'I Just wanna dance the night away' by the Maverics in my sleep! - Now thats disturbing!

Yeah I talk in my sleep apparently.

Whilst asleep, I've also apparently sung, jizzed, and spoke in a 'different language'.

:|

You jizzed in another language?

I can control my own dreams.

Like when I think something bad is about to happen, I close my eyes in the dream and I am awake. Strangely, it is when I am near to getting up.

Also, does everyone else wake up at near enough the same time every single time, it's weird. It's always 7.09am or near enough. Most of the time, I see the clock change into 7.09.

I wake up at exactly the same time every day, 7:00 on the dot when my alarm goes off

My housemate was sick on his jeans last night and managed to, in his sleep, put them in the wash WITH FABRIC SOFTENER too. Incredible. We woke up to find a pair of jeans on their own in the washing machine, nice and clean.

I sometimes wake up crying but have no idea why or what triggered it. :(

When I was a youngster I was found by my parents sleepwalking in the kitchen holding a knife. Worrying.

Another time I took a piss on the stairs thinking I was in the bathroom.

I don't do anything like it any more, must have been just a phase or something!

I used to have amazingly vivid night terrors, sleeping-walking incidents and general nightmares as a kid and an adolescent whenever my temperature was a little abnormal.

As far as I'm aware, I sleep pretty normally. Though I really struggle to sleep when in the same bed as somebody else - so I've probably not been in particularly heavy sleep next to someone likely to tell me how weird I am unless I've been totally shitfaced anyway. :D

I have the ability to control my dreams - if something happens I don't like, I "rewind" and take another course of action. It's weird, as I also suffer from insomnia. I normally sleep between 2am - 6am if I do sleep. It does explain why I dream a lot, as dreams occur in the phase between waking and deep sleep. My last weird dream involved an ex-work colleague, a poster from FT, a character from Hollyoaks, a random made up person, an electric cart (the type seen in hospitals or airports), the theme tune from 5 Live "Sports Report", an MG TF with the interior of an Alfa, the villages of Sharnford and Wolvey merging (literally), and a rabbit named Ruby (after the Kaiser Chiefs record).

It was logical at the time.

Honest.

As for talking in my sleep, unless conversations whilst sleep walking count, then no.

Yes I have bashed my head on the wardrobe sleepwalking.

You sure you weren't just pissed?:P

I have a habit of talking and walking whilst asleep.

After drinking, I tend to have really bad nightmares. Last night, after consuming 1/2 a bottle of fiddich, I dreamt that I was in this rather lovely mountainous resort. However, somebody had kidnapped what turned out to be my long lost sister (I do not have a long lost sister), and held her to ransom. I stumbled on the villains, and they chopped my arm off. I woke up (having slept on my arm!) in agony. I hate those dreams.

Once when I was little, my PS1 was broken and I went to bed upset that night

I then got up and walked to the living room and telling my dad to fix it while sleeping and he said to go back to the bed I said fair enough and went back :P

I also can control when I want to wake up from nightmares usually when I'm seconds from getting killed!

Apparently I swear a lot when asleep after a night on the tiles  .

Oh and a couple of times I've woken myself up farting  .

my housemate at uni sleepwalked on a couple occassions, with hilarious consequences.

he pissed on another of our housemates' doors, and i also woke up one night to find him stark bollocks naked at the end of my bed!! (i hope he was sleepwalking). funny times.

i tend to wake up about 5 mins before my alarm goes off, whatever time it's set for.

A mate of mine was in bed with his wife and without rousing from his slumber uttered the now legendary 'Oh the big boobies', much to her amusement. In fairness, it's the sort of thing he could easily come out with whilst awake because his missus isn't lacking in the chebs department.

Another mate of mine makes the most pathetic whimpering noises in his sleep, as if he's cowering from a hooded axeman or something.

I once wandered into my brother's bedroom and asked him about my subscription to 2000AD, which wouldn't have been particularly unreasonable if it hadn't been 4am. The weird thing was, I sort of knew I was doing it - in the morning, I assumed it was a dream until my family asked me what the bloody hell I was doing

Once I'd heard from an old friend that she would like to meet up to catch up etc all very innocent and in bed with my then-girlfriend that night I said her name in my sleep.....I awoke to a very angry looking face glaring back at me demanding an explaination :giggle:

I have woken up in the kitchen before. Stuffing my face with toasted teacakes. Unfortunately I had set off the fire alarm burning the next batch of tea cakes. Needless to say i wasn't very popular with the rest of the household.
