FoxesFan123 Posted 7 October 2008 Posted 7 October 2008 Does anyone else feel the signing of Berner may have been a mistake, considering how well Chris Powell has done, how Joeys nearly back and Berners only just come of premiership wages? When Mattocks back we'll have 3 specialist left backs at the club. Don't get me wrong, Berners seems to be a good player from his reserve outings, but personally i don't think Mattock will leave in Jan because, well, he hasn't been fantastic in league one, and Powells done really well last few games, it would be criminal to drop him!
Wooly Posted 7 October 2008 Posted 7 October 2008 I think two months into next season, when Powell has retired and Mattock suffers a serious injury, we'll be grateful to have Championship quality backup to slot straight into the team without having to play someone out of position at left-back.
Lovejoy Posted 7 October 2008 Posted 7 October 2008 I think JM will leave in January. Anyway, I've never seen Berner play so can't comment on how good he is, but if/when Powellgets injured...
Jonezy Posted 7 October 2008 Posted 7 October 2008 Berner is the sort of utility guy you need, when you have 46 league games and 3 cups to compete in. He will prove his worth, and also be ready if MM wants to cash in on Mattock sometime soon.
lookwhaticando Posted 7 October 2008 Posted 7 October 2008 He may have only just come off Premiership wages, but nobody picked him up until we came along... he wasn't really in too good a position to demand a wedge.
Corky Posted 7 October 2008 Posted 7 October 2008 He's there if Powell gets injured, or falls out of form. You'd be complaining if we had no back-up.

He only played two games. And we won both.
SamL Posted 7 October 2008 Posted 7 October 2008 He only played two games. And we won both. Doesn't really say a lot considering we've only lost twice all season. If Mattock doesn't leave in January, he'll soon be off. Powell looks good enough for this season but I'm not sure if he'll still be able to hack it next season. I can't comment on Berner as I haven't seen him play yet.

I know it doesn't sat a lot, but he certainly didn't play badly as FoxesFan123 claimed. Infact I thought he was decent. As for Powwel, who knows? He's 39! People must have been saying the same thing for years!
clazkel Posted 7 October 2008 Posted 7 October 2008 Apparently Berner can play anywhere in defence or midfield so i think he is a great player to have on the bench!
Bakey Posted 7 October 2008 Posted 7 October 2008 Apparently Berner can play anywhere in defence or midfield so i think he is a great player to have on the bench! And can also play left midfeild aswell
lookwhaticando Posted 8 October 2008 Posted 8 October 2008 Berner is more versatile than a paper bag. Fact.
Webbo Posted 8 October 2008 Posted 8 October 2008 Berner is more versatile than a paper bag.Fact. That's a shame, I've just signed a paper bag on Football manager.
fox123 Posted 8 October 2008 Posted 8 October 2008 Silly - not signing Burner, what my original response was going to be!
knowitall Posted 8 October 2008 Posted 8 October 2008 He may have only just come off Premiership wages, but nobody picked him up until we came along... he wasn't really in too good a position to demand a wedge. This is not true. Norwich made him a better offer to sign for them. He however chose Leicester because we had stood by him thro' injury.

lavrentis Posted 9 October 2008 Posted 9 October 2008 Although Berner requires gas to get going, he is the added flame to the team
Ric Flair Posted 9 October 2008 Posted 9 October 2008 I think he'll become a very good player for us. Powell has probably played a much more important role for us than Pearson thought he would and that's why Berner hasn't yet made his move in the league. But I think Berner will slowly start to get more of a chance and if he can make his mark then he'll be our first choice left back. Mattock must be leaving in January or Powell, one of the two.
