Oldham Post Match

Recommended Posts

Nice to have met you Jake and Granno.

Just wondering Jake....Does anyone ever say you look like Louis off Even Stevens?

I've just realised I was only 3 minutes away from winning £39 on the FT 1st goalscorer thing. :(

What coach were you on?

I thought Fryatt was better than Howard today - just my opinion but Fryatt chased down the defenders and played some good passes, including the one that Gradel almost scored from. When he did run and lose the ball it was because there were no other options available. Howard really should've scored in the first half when his free header hit the post, although Dyer's follow up miss with an open goal was pathetic. Overall I think Howard's lack of mobility is quite a problem when we're trying to counter-attack, he clearly doesn't have the legs to keep up with Dyer and Gradel.
People slating Fryatt are on drugs - he dipped in the second half, but so did everyone. He had a very good first half and seemed fitter than I've ever seen him, faster and much more determined. Howard worked really well again, I am loving Howard this season so much.

Yeah, i'm on drugs. I'm an idiot, absolutely stupid.

When he did run and the lose the ball it was because he's unable to look up and actually pass the damn thing. That one you mention when he played it to Gradel, he held it so much longer than he should have, he refused to pass it until he had to and made Gradel's job harder because of it. On one occasion he ran backwards to receive a ball that was going to Gradel, why?! Carry your own run and let the guy actually going forwards with momentum carry the ball and give it you, then when you get it you can show us how much of a goal ace you really are.

Anish, Howard has scored, hit the post, held the ball up well and won things in the air. Fryatt did **** all apart from close the defenders down on occasions and chase the ball. Nothing I don't expect him to do. Yet still you think Fryatt was better? I'm baffled.

I've only just got back. We were stuck on the M62 until nearly 7pm and finally rolled in 10 minutes ago.

Not a bad result by all means, although it would've been nice to snatch it.

I thought Howard had a pretty good game today and deserved his goal. Gradel and Lloyd looked a little off the boil today. Decent save from Martin just after we'd scored although he had no chance with the goal.

You're not the only one LD3, I thought Howard was the better of the two. Personally, I thought Fryatt gave the ball away a little too much and he should have taken his chance.

Evening chaps, another Oldham fan here just looking to see what you thought. In my view a pretty good game and if we finish one spot above you we will go up. I thought it was a game of 3 thirds in that the first 30 minutes were quite even, the last 15 of the first half and first 15 of the second you bossed and then once you scored we were well on top. Thought we could have won it at the end but then you could have been 2 up before we scored, On the points raised here I did think you sat back once you scored which may have had an impact on how much we came into the game. Maybe if you had continued to attack it might have been different as you still caused us problems on the break. As for the Howard - Fryatt debate only one winner on my watch I'm afraid, Gregan doesn't normally come off 2nd best in a physical battle but he did today. I thought Howard was immense even if the ref did give him a lot of leeway. As for fryatt he did look ok on the ball but how many times was caught offside? And as for the chance he missed in the first half that finish was woeful - but nowhere near as bad as Dyers!

I was disappoinyed by Dyer as he has been bigged up a lot by my Leicester supporting friends but today he got no change out of our 2nd choice right back.

Oakley I thought was superb and the defence very strong. Bold subs by your manager at half time and it was good to see both sides still going for it and trying to play decent football at 1-1 in the last 20 minutes. Good turnout by your lot today hope everyone got home safely. See you in the New year

Andy

Draw was a fair result, we were awful after we scored. Defence was panicky at times today and there were lots of last ditch blocks. I didn't think neither of the front two were good today, Fryatt did a couple of good things in the first half and of course Howard got the goal but the lack of pace was a problem today and both of them had trouble with their first touch.

Oakley and King were trying to create things, playing little one twos and stuff but the movement was poor. Overall was quite poor today but we still had the chances to snatch the 3 points.

I still don't understand why Kisnorbo was brought on. :dunno:

Whaat? Your guy raped him!

Funny that, I noticed someone earlier thought he had got the rough end of the stick! I thought the ref allowed him to back in, shove and gave him a free kick every time he fell over, not that I have a jaundiced view of course.

But any way what a site this is. I'm Ian Marshall after one post! Awesome!!!!

The cops and stewards were jobsworths. Everyone was standing including Oldham, yet a small section including me were shouted at etc and then the cops turned up, pushed one lad, he wasn't happy with that and so was thrown out.

I saw this incident and he was asked several times by the steward(who isn't at all popular with Oldham fans from last year) to sit down.

They are cowards tbh though, in the home end they are extremely quick to start kicking people out but when it comes to the away end they don't want to know. I watched the steward just keep on telling him to sit down and finally action was taken when the Police Officer came up and threw him out, there was no need for the way he handled the matter just coming straight in and pushing him though instead of gently escorting him out!

Morrison wasn't good first half but yeah was suprising. Maybe Morrison got a knock :dunno:

We were saying he was having a bit of an off day, then he put in that challenge that sent the ball out for a corner, when a slight misjudgement could have seen a penalty. Very well timed.
