For me it's Tunchev and Morrison. MM might not be the greatest footballer ever to wear the shirt, but I think our defence look better when he plays. And Tunchev is class.

If Hobbs is getting stick for tonight's performance, that's unjust. Aside from a couple of wayward passes/clearences (of which the majority of our team were guilty of) he had an okay game in a team performance of below average. He even surprised me in his effectiveness when he switched to the right. Looking like a threat to the opposing defence is not something I thought I would be saying about Hobbs. Of our current available centre men, Morrison is the apprentice. It's too early to rate Kisnorbo (average on Saturday and looked more confident tonight). Kisnorbo will no doubt stake his claim for a starting berth as he gets more match time under his belt. For the time being, Hobbs and Tunchev are fine.

SamL Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 Hobbs has showed a lot of promise, but he's been far too inconsistent which is understandable considering his age. Judging by the last two performances, I'd plump for Kisnorbo and Tunchev.

davieG Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 I don't really mind I think any of those pairings are good enough what I'd like to see is some consistency we now seem to be going through a phase of too many changes, Pearson needs to pick who he thinks are the best 2 and go with them.

If he wants to keep it, he needs to put on a far better show than the one last night. The fact is when Kisnorbo came on, we never looked troubled at the back at all. So for this reason, and I've never claimed to be a great supporter of Kisnorbo, NP has to start with him and Tunchev next game. It's as simple as that people. I'm surprised by Hobb's lack of passing ability, considering he's come through the ranks at Liverpool. You'd think he'd be sharper at passing the ball. Last night his crossfield balls were not only short, but not even in the right direction to reach his man. He put us in trouble on more than one occasion with daft, misplaced short balls too. Whereas Tunchev is clearly playing well below his level. Having a partner who wasn't up to it last night only served to highlight even further how poor Hobbs' performance was.

davieG Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 Having defended him in the past I've not been a big fan of Kisnorbo because of his poor distribution but it was telling last night that every pass he made was to a blue shirt and on at least one occasion quite a penetrating forward pass. Presumably someone's had a word with him re hoofing but I was duly impressed by his showing.

Tunchev is class, always wants the ball and tries to keep the ball moving as much as he can, even if it means going sideways, I think he can help Kisnorbo with the passing side of things and keeping things simple.

Last night we saw the first cracks appear in Tunchev's game, dealing with bigger men than he is and that's why doubt has crept in my mind. As for Hobbs, I've praised him highly in past weeks but can't get away with last night's performance again.

From what little I know and it's from probably not so reliable sources, Kisnorbo's agent has been 'touting' Kisnorbo to other clubs, subsequent to our relegation, for me it comes down to whether he will want a contract extension and the money involved ie transfer money or his salary requirements presuming we look like promotion candidates!! SO to summarize, I dunno, and there are too many factors to make a real educated guess!!!

I wasn't there last night, but I've seen inexperience from both Morrison and Hobbs over the last month and despite being impressed by their solid starts, I think it's definitely the right time to introduce Kissa back into the starting line up!

Two goals from poor marking and poor communication cost us but with Kissa back in there, there will be a lot more communication.

If he can continue like that, and stop trying to rip off centre forwards shirts, he'd be so much better.

Didn't go last night but if that is the case then Tunchev & Kisnorbo, also because as others have mentioned Kisnorbo scores goals.
Koke Posted 23 October 2008 Posted 23 October 2008 Tunchev and Kisnorbo. If there is one weakness in Tunch's game, it's that he's having difficulties dealing with big men. Tunch is 6'2 and Kisnorbo is 6'2 as well, but Kisnorbo is a far better defenders when it comes to dealing with bullies and target men.

I still wish I had a video of Kisnorbo making four accurate 10-yard passes on the trot. Collectors items don't come much rarer than that but long may it continue. As for his man marking it was so close I doubt it would have been allowed on telly before 9pm.

'cept when they do it for Wolves. Baxturds. That said, Tunchev + Anne Other in the centre is fine by me... no particular preference, having never seen any of them. Is Morrison any good at dealing with big tough buggers?
