Ryanside Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Lates...1447211,00.html Edworthy Joins FoxesPosted on: Fri 07 Nov 2008 Leicester City have today completed the signing of free agent Marc Edworthy. The 35-year-old has signed a contract with the club that will keep him at the Walkers Stadium until January 6, 2009. Edworthy is a versatile defender who has turned out for Plymouth Argyle, Crystal Palace, Coventry City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Norwich City and Derby County during his 17-year professional career to date. City boss Nigel Pearson said: "We are delighted to welcome Marc on board. He has been training with us for the last month and his attitude has been excellent. "He is a player who has been there and done it and he will be a good addition to the squad." Edworthy made 11 appearances for the Rams last season, including nine in the Premier League, and joins Matt Oakley, Chris Powell and Steve Howard as ex-Derby players in the Leicester squad.
sbfox Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 Who on earth updated the wikipedia page for Edworthy THAT quickly. Top work from whoever that was....
Guest Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 We are crying out for something extra in midfield, and for more options up front. So why, oh why, oh why, oh why has he signed another defender?
coale39 Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 He better score many goals or I will hate him forever and ever.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 We need cover for Gilbert at right back, Hobbs cleary isn't up to scratch. The signing may hardly be inspiring but I wouldn't say Edworthy is a bad option as a reserve, especially if Gilbert injures himself again.
davieG Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 2 months contract in time for the transfer window to open.
Corky Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 We are crying out for something extra in midfield, and for more options up front. So why, oh why, oh why, oh why has he signed another defender? You are right Lise, but right-back was another area we need back-up in. Edworthy should do a solid job, similar to Powell I would think, until Gilbert comes back. Another centre-midfielder is essential though.
Salieri Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 It says he is a "versatile" defender. What is his specialist position? If it is right back then fair enough, we need another right back. If it isnt, then its a pointless signing.

GLC Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 He better score many goals or I will hate him forever and ever. he better play well, because hes ex derby! but going on the other ex derby players performances
Mark Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 From Gilbert and Mattock to Edworthy and Powell. I liked what he was doing but Pearson is clearly cracking under the pressure, already.
davieG Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 Are we Derby in disguise - Marc Edworthy, Matt Oakley, Chris Powell and Steve Howard. I think I'll start a campaign for white shirts and black shorts to make the squad feel at home.
Kilworthfox Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 Old News.I posted this nearly a month ago. Pah that's old news! Where is the new stuff, your getting like Oasis man livin in the past
lavrentis Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 Old News.I posted this nearly a month ago. Bang on once again. Thanks
Tommeh Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 How stupid. Why? An experienced right back, when for the last 3 games we've had a big centre half with the pace and skill of a truck playing there. Pretty sure you all said the same about Chris Powell, and he's done a solid Job in my opinion. We've missed Gilbert massively these last few games and back up like this is vital. Good signing Nigel.
Darkzzz_ Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 Whatever... If he plays well and puts 100% in I will back him.
Alexikokopops Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 From Gilbert and Mattock to Edworthy and Powell. I liked what he was doing but Pearson is clearly cracking under the pressure, already. Why? It's two months as cover until the January transfer window where we can actually sign someone properly. I think Hobbs has proved he can't fill in there.
Chromophobia Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 It's clear we need a proper right back while Gilbert's injured, and just like Mattock has been saying that Chris Powell has been giving him advice and that, I think it's a good move. Getting someone in who's "been there and done that" and can help the younger player and give them advice and things they've learned from the years they've been playing. Good move, and it's only for a couple of months anyway. We definitely have to buy a central midfielder in january though.
Fox in a Box Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 but he maybe the missing link...... Edworthy to Oakley ---------Oakley howard GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
