renards Posted 8 November 2008 Posted 8 November 2008 Ashley Chambers? Fair cop! One of the only Leicester fans playing for his home town! (Not sure if Ashley was a fan, go to the games with his old form teacher..will confirm) Joe + family are defo Leic nuts
harpendenfox Posted 8 November 2008 Posted 8 November 2008 I truly love Mr/Mrs/Ms Knowitall's insider posts. I have this image of him/her as the 'smoking man' in the X-Files, for those of you who remember that 90s series. Knowitall sits at his desk, prowls the building, looking pasty and anxious, smoking about 50 Marlboro full strengths a day, and picking up on conversations he shouldn't hear. The truth is out there. But is Knowitall more Mulder or Scully. I'm kind of working on a Scully image
lavrentis Posted 8 November 2008 Posted 8 November 2008 Upset by this news, but this is to further his career. Let's just hope when he's playing for England they'll know him as the lad from Leicester.
Lovejoy Posted 8 November 2008 Posted 8 November 2008 Imo he's the third best LB at the club anyway. £1mil + will do.
Ashley Posted 8 November 2008 Posted 8 November 2008 I am 99% sure that Joe will be leaving Leicester in January.I base this on things that have been said to me and things that have taken place. Can not say anymore. Those whom know me know I would not post this unless it was what I believed. Cheers for the update. Like said previously in this thread he's easily replaceable, I hope we do get decent money for him. I think he's on his way to Sunderland.
dandannieldanok Posted 8 November 2008 Posted 8 November 2008 I hope we got a good fee for him. He's easily replaceable. Agreed, ever since he's returned from injury this season I've not been impressed much.
Guest Bilo Posted 8 November 2008 Posted 8 November 2008 Bruno Berner or Chris Powell would be perfectly capable of replacing him and the money would be invaluable. Perhaps selling DJ and bringing in either Lambert or Kuffour from Bristol Rovers would be a good idea as well.
Legend_in_blue Posted 8 November 2008 Posted 8 November 2008 I don't know what the fuss is all about either. He's hardly set League One on fire with his performances. I prefer Powell at LB tbh. Berner is more than adequate cover.
BoneHead. Posted 8 November 2008 Posted 8 November 2008 Cheers for the update. Like said previously in this thread he's easily replaceable, I hope we do get decent money for him.I think he's on his way to Sunderland. Villa or West Ham my moneys on.
Daggers Posted 8 November 2008 Posted 8 November 2008 Imo he's the third best LB at the club anyway. £1mil + will do. And everyone was refusing to contemplate treble that during the summer. I'd like to see more than £1m and a sell-on clause - and have all the money spent on new players in January.
Thracian Posted 8 November 2008 Posted 8 November 2008 Bruno Berner or Chris Powell would be perfectly capable of replacing him and the money would be invaluable. Salieri Posted 8 November 2008 Posted 8 November 2008 From what I've witnessed so far I don't see Berner as a replacement for anybody. To be fair to the guy, how many games has he actually played in his correct position? Hobbs looked pretty good in the centre of defence, but at right back? We've seen more than enough of players being played out of position, it ain't rocket science, play them in their specialist positions to get the best out of them. Berner isnt a central midfielder and it showed again today.
carterfox90 Posted 9 November 2008 Posted 9 November 2008 From what I've witnessed so far I don't see Berner as a replacement for anybody. seems a poor signing at the moment
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 November 2008 Posted 9 November 2008 From what I've witnessed so far I don't see Berner as a replacement for anybody. I disagree. I saw Berner in the left back role against Lincoln in the JPT, and he was the only bright note in a dull and horrible game. He looked composed, cultured and reassured on the ball, and his marking was first rate. He supported the attacks when he could and was always looking up to get the ball through to Dyer, and sometimes Howard. Chris Powell will not be here for long, and now it seems neither will Mattock. Berner is more than adequate for the Championship, let alone League One. Very harsh to judge a player when he hasn't played in his natural position I feel, seemed like Andy King was a fish out of water today on the right side of midfield. I won't judge a player's attributes based on a performance in a role unsuited to them. It would seem that Berner is suffering from the "Mr. Versatility" tag, unfortunate because it means we haven't really had a taster as to what he's all about. I cannot agree with people saying he's a poor signing.
Daggers Posted 9 November 2008 Posted 9 November 2008 Strikes me that Berner is probably competent in his normal role but is being flung around the park like we did with Chambers. On that point, I'd love Chambers back here at right back.
Darkzzz_ Posted 9 November 2008 Posted 9 November 2008 I think Berner has been decent for us in his short peroid here. As for Mattock, I would prefer to keep him here, I think it is important to keep the highly rated younger players at the club, BUT only if he has the heart and desire to play for this club. If he doesn't have that, then he can go. No player is bigger than this club. Maybe Stearman has been giving him advice.
Daggers Posted 9 November 2008 Posted 9 November 2008 No player is bigger than this club. Barry Hayles is bigger than this.

Kisnorbo and Clemence (if they weren't injured), would they be in the same bracket as Mattock i.e. high wage earner or big asset?
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 9 November 2008 Posted 9 November 2008 Hopefully the money raised will be used to strengthen the squad
Darkzzz_ Posted 9 November 2008 Posted 9 November 2008 Barry Hayles is bigger than this. Ok, fair point, he is massive.

I suspect he will have the heart and desire to play for a much bigger wage in the Prem ............. but maybe I'm being cynical?
Tilley Posted 9 November 2008 Posted 9 November 2008 I think he'll go to Wolves for some reason. Sad to see him go, but oh well. We have Chris Powell.
JoeyB Posted 9 November 2008 Posted 9 November 2008 Yesterday i thought he had a stormer. Scout there maybe? Hope he stays and when we get gilbert back we settle on a back line of Gilbert - Morrison - Tunchev - Mattock
Candidcamera Posted 15 November 2008 Posted 15 November 2008 If Leicester never return to the Premiership the Joe Mattock sale must be remembered. I could understand it if we were struggling but please have some ambition Milan. I don't see this for Joe as a dream move he has hardly established himself in the City team. Say he went to a bottom 6 premiership team now ? We will be playing them next year. Lineker stayed and did his time until near the England team. What he has is class and importantly speed.
