knowitall Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 I am 99% sure that Joe will be leaving Leicester in January. I base this on things that have been said to me and things that have taken place. Can not say anymore. Those whom know me know I would not post this unless it was what I believed.

jimmer Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 Well thank you for cheering up my day Knowitall!
Koke Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 I hope we got a good fee for him. He's easily replaceable.
lildave3 Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 As long as we get a few quid for him i'm not too fussed. Chris Powell is the future after all.
Sparky Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 I hope we got a good fee for him. He's easily replaceable. ^ Bang on
syston_fox Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 Always a shame to see a player with potential leave the club but to be honest it's probably best to cash in on him while we have the chance. Powell is more than adequate to cover the position for the rest of the season and so long as use the money to get in an acceptable replacement for the long term, I won't be to disappointed so long as Mattock goes on to have a good career!
act smiley Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 Chris Powell is the future after all. "He who controls the past controls the future", ergo Chris Powell dominates everything.
leicesterseddon Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 We wouldn't miss him. Let him piss off and hopefully we'll get a bit of money (or should I say Mandaric will get a bit of money). Stearman mark 2.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 We've got Berner as back up as well.
eye666 Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 Shame if he goes but if he does, hopefully we'd get enough for a centre mid and a striker (maybe a goalie ). Flog Campbell if we can too Few strikers in this league who'd do a job - Cox, Graham, Dickinson, Lambert... not sure about central midfielders though.
Ozwin Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 Annoying how most people wanted to keep hold of him at the start of the season and all of a sudden everyone doesn't care if he goes.
syston_fox Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 Annoying how most people wanted to keep hold of him at the start of the season and all of a sudden everyone doesn't care if he goes. I think that's partly down to how we've seen that he is replaceable. Chris Powell has been one of our most consistant players so far this season and personally I'd rather have him in the starting 11 at the minute over Mattock.
Salieri Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 Bit gutted, but inevitable all the same. Good luck to the lad, lets hope we get decent money for him (with future sell on clauses). In the meantime we've got Powell and Berner so not even a great rush for a replacement.
lcfc81 Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 Annoying how most people wanted to keep hold of him at the start of the season and all of a sudden everyone doesn't care if he goes. Personally I'm getting tired of the constant Mattock rumours, let him go. If he was a massive superstar and had a massive impact on team performances I would quite happily put up with it, but from what I've seen he is average at best at the minute. I know that everyone goes on about his potential but are we going to benefit from it? I doubt it. We are merely a stepping stone. Get another young left back in, a bit of pace who can learn from Powell

Chris Powell has been one of our most consistant players so far this season and personally I'd rather have him in the starting 11 at the minute over Mattock. Course he's replaceable, he's a young player still learning. Unfortunately, we won't replace him with anyone able enough because we're LCFC. And Powell is not the answer.
Scow Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 I think Mattock is overrated - never really seen what all the fuss is about. He's young, left footed and can occasionally beat players. That's all well enough, but his distribution isn't really up to scratch and often gets caught out defensively - he isn't the quickest either. However, he is still young and has plenty of time for improvement, though I don't think he'll be as good as some people predict - similar to Stearman in some respects. We have adequate cover, so while it may represent a loss longer term, on evidence, Powell and Berner are capable enough.
smokey Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 We wouldn't miss him. Let him piss off and hopefully we'll get a bit of money (or should I say Mandaric will get a bit of money). Stearman mark 2. What the Stearman who is getting rave reviews for table topping Wolves? MMMMMM, i wonder if thats because he is playing in his natural position of Centre Half?

Good luck to the lad, lets hope we get decent money for him (with future sell on clauses). In the meantime we've got Powell and Berner so not even a great rush for a replacement. Sorry Spiderpig but I disagree. Mattock has long been tracked by some good teams and both he and his representatives are ambitious and jolly good luck to them. I've lost count of the times I've said he's being "fast tracked" and what knowitall mentions is the reason. I think Joe Mattock has great potential but he's sill very much an apprentice learning his trade and, frankly, any move into higher grade football is as much a risk for him as an opportunity. But, nothing ventured, nothing gained and if he's going then I'd be wanting a replacement pdq and, with all genuine respect Powell he's not the answer and neither, do I suspect, is Berner. Full-back is not a throwaway position. It is a vital launchpad for attacks and we need someone young, fast, brave and constructive to help steer us in the direction we need to go. Personally I think we were ridiculously short-sighted to let Sheehan go when we did, despite his faults and despite my acceptance than he will never tick the "quick" box I've mentioned, more's the pity. But if Pearson is the special manager he wants to be then he'll hurry up and find someone who is. I've all the time in the world for Powell but I'd really want all the boxes ticking that I've mentioned. Compromise is for losers.
CosbehFox Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 I'd like us to sell him and immediately loan him back for the rest of the season. Regardless of where he ends up, he might as well spending that time playing rather than getting know a set-up team with 15 or 16 players who regularly play.

We havent got a great deal of money to spend (if any) so any money from the Mattock deal would, in my opinion, be better spent elsewhere for now, ideally on a decent central midfielder to provide competition for Oakley and King. Powells a short term fix,we all know that. Berner has barely played at all, especially in his specialist position. The two of them im sure (barring injuries) should be good enough at this level, then if we get promoted, yes we will have to look at bringing someone else in.
lcfc81 Posted 7 November 2008 Posted 7 November 2008 What the Stearman who is getting rave reviews for table topping Wolves?MMMMMM, i wonder if thats because he is playing in his natural position of Centre Half? Don't know if it is going so well for him at the minute. First he fall out with Mccarthy after getting made to look silly by 3 goal Leroy Lita and then getting sent off. Now there is a rumour he missed the match against Swansea cause he was late! (Got stuck in traffic!) http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A42804155 You know what Mick Mccarthys like (Roy Keane) We might get Stearman back on the cheap. To be fair to Stearman I wouldn't turn up if I played for Wolves. Just trying to findout if he played against Cardiff last week. EDIT: I've just found out he did play and my grand plan is over.
