AmericanScott Posted 19 November 2008 Posted 19 November 2008 Excellent result. England have changed a lot. Well done.
fox123 Posted 19 November 2008 Posted 19 November 2008 Good result even if only a friendly. I'm liking Capello more and more England play, and it's plain to see that the players enjoy playing for him. Best England coach for a long time IMO.
Corky Posted 19 November 2008 Posted 19 November 2008 But it is a meaningless friendly (said all those who are now going to celebrate and brag about this victory )
FilboFox Posted 19 November 2008 Posted 19 November 2008 Happy days... very pleased on the whole... sometimes we made stupid mistakes and at times, started to revert to how we used to play, long ball and sitting back but then we came to life again and that was very pleasing to see. Downing, although everyone kept going on about how well he played tonight, sometimes his crossing was very poor... altogether, he played very well but at times he made silly mistakes as can be said of all the players really. All in all, the crossing wasn't that great today... should have been better from an international team but wasn't dreadful as we scored a goal from a freekick. Carson... well where on earth do you start with him... not sure he was completely at fault for the goal but he should have made the call... Terry should have been told whether to clear it or leave it... Carson was indecisive and the ball when through his fecking arms and legs!!! Useless... DO NOT play him Capello! Green, Robinson and James are all far better than this fool. All in all, a very good performance and has left me pleased, if somewhat underwhelmed. I'll give it a solid 8/10.
Matt Posted 19 November 2008 Posted 19 November 2008 Barr the odd player that was just as good as the "1st team", if not better. They really did surprise me, I expected a loss and a bad performance (Considering i'd have expect that from the "1st team") i'm very happy with how they played today, I certainly be looking at chucking a few of the old out in the next game and giving some of these that played tonight a proper chance to prove themselves.
purpleronnie Posted 19 November 2008 Posted 19 November 2008 Our reserves are better than germanys reserves thats for sure. Beating germany on their own turf should be celebrated I just hope we dont celebrate too much. Why capello but Carson in is beyond me. I'm just glad it didnt cost us in the end.
dandannieldanok Posted 19 November 2008 Posted 19 November 2008 But it is a meaningless friendly (said all those who are now going to celebrate and brag about this victory ) Yep that's me, I love being a hypocrite. All in all, a very good performance and has left me pleased, if somewhat underwhelmed. I'll give it a solid 8/10. Blimey, what were you expecting?

I see the papers and bandwagon starting now "We beat Germany, In Germany, We are all but world champions" 1/10 are the odds on us winning the next world cup. Bring it on it'll be a walkover.
Corky Posted 19 November 2008 Posted 19 November 2008 Yep that's me, I love being a hypocrite. Good on you
FilboFox Posted 19 November 2008 Posted 19 November 2008 Yep that's me, I love being a hypocrite. Blimey, what were you expecting? Well although it was very good... it never really excited me much... was rather tame. Not that I'm not happy, cause I am, but I was just hoping for a little more flair and use of the front men to run at the German back line... there really didn't seem to be much shooting (on target) going on tonight at all...
Tommeh Posted 19 November 2008 Posted 19 November 2008 Fantastic result, Just wish I could have been there, england aways are something I'm defenately going to look into for next season. Carrick was sensational.
Simi Posted 19 November 2008 Posted 19 November 2008 Thankyou Matthew Upson. If England scored first it was 50p shots all night. Love it.
JakeShingler Posted 19 November 2008 Posted 19 November 2008 Micah Richards at CB is better than Mathew bloody Upson. Great game and Performance by all players. Am i the only who thinks Johnson played great?
Uncle Monty Posted 19 November 2008 Posted 19 November 2008 I am in full support of whatever Cappello does, even if i think it was strange to put Carson on.
Sparky Posted 19 November 2008 Posted 19 November 2008 Very pleased with the result and performance , keep our feet on the ground and lets keep this bandwagon rolling
Bert Posted 19 November 2008 Posted 19 November 2008 Thankyou Matthew Upson. If England scored first it was 50p shots all night. Love it. Blackcurrent's getting dear. Anyway, it goes to show, what a proper manager, who does it his way, takes takes no shit, will do for a team. I've no doubt that if this was under Sven or SM, it would've ended in a 0-0 draw or defeat. Things seem to be looking up.

A good manager is very underated some times esepecially at International level
fox123 Posted 20 November 2008 Posted 20 November 2008 I see the papers and bandwagon starting now "We beat Germany, In Germany, We are all but world champions"1/10 are the odds on us winning the next world cup. Bring it on it'll be a walkover. To be fair, it's about time we had something positive to read about. It's all been doom and gloom recently what with Baby P and the Credit Crunch. I'd also be happy to stick a tener on England to win the World cup at this stage. Not due to tonight's win, due to Capello being consistently, tactically spot on. I'm am all for the Fabio Capello Bandwagon, and this is the first time in years (possibly since Euro 1996) that England have a good chance of winning something. With Capello in charge, having the best record an England manager has had to qualifying for a major tournament, I am well and truely on this bandwagon and long may it continue.
lildave3 Posted 20 November 2008 Posted 20 November 2008 Not watched the game yet, will watch it later. But by the sounds of the scorers, i'm guessing 2 more goals from set pieces?
Raj Posted 20 November 2008 Posted 20 November 2008 The 'injured' players ie lamps, gerrard,Plug(Rio) who will magically be fit to play for their clubs this weekend should not get back in to the England squad. You watch....thye'll be fit on Sat/sunday. tossers!
Tevez Posted 20 November 2008 Posted 20 November 2008 Carrick was class! Wayne Bridge had his best performance in a England shirt. Was pleasing to watch last night, big names out and we still perform at reasonably high standard.
AyewJoking Posted 20 November 2008 Posted 20 November 2008 Pleased that Agbonlahor, De Foe and Bent got a run out. Fring players should always be given the chance to play as we already know what Rooney and co are capable of. Dont rate Carson at all. He should have walloped that ball away and took Terry and Herpes with it!!
eye666 Posted 20 November 2008 Posted 20 November 2008 Carrick was class! Wayne Bridge had his best performance in a England shirt. Was pleasing to watch last night, big names out and we still perform at reasonably high standard. Probably because we had (youngish) players who want to play for their country and don't see it as a another hoop to jump through to maintain a place. Happy Agbonlahor finally got his chance and looked good (would liked to have seen Crouch come on for a few knockdowns for Gabby to sprint onto), Young got a bit of a run-out although Fabio should have taken Downing off and played him down the left - pleased Downing finally played well and set-up 2 goals though. Carrick had a stormer and Barry supported him well. Not so keen on Carson - good keeper but prone to David James errors a la mid-90's. Johnson linked up well Wright-Phillips. All in all a good performance. Hopefully see a few regulars upping their game. I'm impressed by Fabio... have to wait until April though to see how we play in the qualifiers.
Suffolk_fox Posted 20 November 2008 Posted 20 November 2008 I hope that Capello keeps this line up for the next game - it will encourage the newer, younger players to keep it up, that their efforts won't go unnoticed or unrewarded, and show the 'injured' ones that they are not automatic starters when it suits them or their club. They should be made to fight for their place. How many of the 8 non starters will be playing this weekend? Hmmm? Oh, and get Green in for Carson - I don't think Carson's ready yet.
