Tilley Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 Martin - 6 Hendo, recover please. Edworthy - 7 Morrison - 5 Hmmmmm, how many mistakes!!?? HOOF. Tunchev - 7 Class, although Zola clearly had him beaten for pace. Mattock - 5 Shit, again. Oakley - 7 Great ball for King's first chance, got up well for his header. Different player in last few weeks. King - 7 Another goal, much better since Berner has come in. Berner - 7 Steady again, definately cemented his place. Dyer - 7 What a free signing. His pace is frightening. Campbell - 6 Few good touches, holds it up well, should have cleared it for their goal & wants one touch too many, still rusty. Fryatt - 7 16 for the season? Is this the same player? Looked better with DJ than with Howard, sign him up. Gradel - 6 One assist, always takes 4487584 touches too many & tries to use his non existant left foot. Overrated. Howard - 5 Captain ? Just throws a strop & fouls people, great. Hobbs - N/A

Legend_in_blue Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 Before I start my ratings, giving Howard a 5 is extremely harsh on the guy. He doesn't deserve that. Martin - 6 - Distributed the ball well with his long throws out but a little suspect with their goal. Need to see a replay, looked as if he could have got down quicker to it to me. Edworthy - 7 - Solid. These old guys are just what's needed when backup is required at this level. He did nothing wrong. The Tunch - 8 - Class act. As usual. Their lump caused a few problems for him but he never got caught out. Morrison - 6 - A few wayward passes put us in trouble but on the whole he did an ok job. Mattock - 6.5 - Still overrated imo. Why premiership teams are touting him, I have no idea. Oakley - 7 - Looked lively out on the right. Tended to move around the pitch quite a bit. More of a free role, it seems to suit him quite well. King - 7 - Good header on the second goal. Did everything else as required. Berner - 7.5 - This guy is getting better all the time. I thought he did a great job and looked to get forward whenever possible. Clever player. Dyer - 6.5 - Quiet game from the great man. All great players have quiet games. Fryatt - 7 - Cool as you like finish. Liked that one. Sometimes a little slow in the build-up play. DJ - 4 - Sorry. Not good enough. Looks to me as though this is £1.8 million badly spent. Will it ever come good for the guy? Oh, and he can't defend. Subs: Hobbs - N/a Gradel - 6 - Great ball in for the corner to set up the second. This came after about 5 of the most awful crosses you will ever see. And then he puts in two absolutely great crosses and noone is there to finish them off. Shame. We saw the good and the bad from Gradel all over 30 minutes of play. Howard - 7 - Give the guy a break. For crying out loud. Did nothing wrong. Held the ball up, got his flick-ons and laid the ball off well. Defended well from the front as needed. Yet another result that could not be taken for granted. We never make it easy for ourselves. We still need to be more clinical and finish teams off instead of allowing them back into the game. Lay off Howard.
lildave3 Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 Agreed Tilleyo. Also, i'm not keen on it saying it but Fryatt is making himself very hard to hate right now. I'll try my best.

lildave3 Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 Where has this new nickname come from No idea Tilleyo.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 Martin - 5 - Unconvincing, got beaten at his near post for their goal and didn't really command his box. Edworthy - 6 - Steady if uneffective. Morrison - 6 - Needs a touch more composure, and needs to look up for a pass along the floor when he has the ball. Tunchev - 9 - Won absolutely everything in the air. Any long balls that Crewe belted up to Zola/Donaldson were soon dealt with, and apart from that they had few ideas. MOTM. Mattock - 6 - Glimpses of neat attacking play but his marking is shoddy. Very, very shoddy. Linked up well with Dyer in the last 15 or so. Oakley - 6 - See Edworthy. King - 6 - Good headed finish but generally his passing was a touch weak. Provided the odd moment of class but was a bit anonymous at times. Berner - 7 - Impressive. Always looking to break down play and slow the game down when Crewe were on the break, he strikes me as a more cultured version of Weso. Dyer - 7 - Had the beating of their right back a few times tonight and was always looking to "bomb on". PLays simple balls to feet and keeps it simple. DJ - 5 - Really needs to improve his touch. Too many times tonight the ball ran too far in front of him because of his clumsiness. At fault for their goal, but he should've had more assisstance from the defence once they saw him in trouble, really. Fryatt - 6.5 - Won some balls in the air, looked tenacious and up for it. Very well taken goal. Gradel - 6 - More impressed with Gradel than Oakley. Needs to work on his final ball but he always got into great positions to cross and ran at their full back when he got the ball. Howard - 7 - Treated a touch harshly by the referee, won everything in the air, looked reassured on the ball and spread it out wide well. He was a handful for Crewe's defence when he came on and, imo, should start ahead of DJ in the next game.
Koke Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 Also, i'm not keen on it saying it but Fryatt is making himself very hard to hate right now. I'll try my best. You daft ****
Milky Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 Martin - 7 You've got to give him some credit for that crucial one-on-one save at 1-1 Edworthy - 6 Morrison - 5 Poor distribution Tunchev - 6 Zola had him a couple of times Mattock - 6 Oakley - 6 King - 7 extra mark for the vital goal. Berner - 6 Dyer - 6 Campbell - 6 Fryatt - 7 nice goal Gradel - 6 Howard - 6 It was almost too easy at times, so they started to get very sloppy.
syston_fox Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 Agreed Tilleyo. Also, i'm not keen on it saying it but Fryatt is making himself very hard to hate right now. I'll try my best. Are you really declaring defeat?
lildave3 Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 Are you really declaring defeat? No, i'm just saying i'm having to dig deep.
Corky Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 No, i'm just saying i'm having to dig deep. 16 goals and 8 assists? You've got to admire the way he's turned his fortunes around with us.
lildave3 Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 16 goals and 8 assists? You've got to admire the way he's turned his fortunes around with us. No comment.
syston_fox Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 16 goals and 8 assists? You've got to admire the way he's turned his fortunes around with us. But the real important stat is how many disallowed goals does he have?

Jimmy Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 Martin 6 solid enough Edworthy 6 Gilbert needs to recover quickly as with this current midfield line up we need an attacking right back, which Edworthy doesn't offer enough Morrison 6 Tunchev 8 Mattock 7 Oakley 6 King 7 Berner 6 Dyer 7 Fryatt 7 Campbell 5 Gradel 7 Howard 6
Daggers Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 Martin - 6 Did nothing wrong, made a cracking stop to prevent them going 2-1 up Edworthy - 7 Morrison - 5 Convinced he was to blame for the equaliser (if I'm wrong I'll trot out any of 100 other reasons why he wasn't very good tonight) Tunchev - 7 So good, most of the time Mattock - 6 Hit and miss, some lovely touches and runs and then a wedge of shocking passes and crap touches. I'll not miss him in January. Oakley - 7 I'm liking the new Matt Oakley a lot. King - 7 Matchwinning goal from a player I'd love to love...but why does he insist on playing so deep when others will do that for him. At times the gap between our midfield and forward lines was stupid leading to hoof ball again. Berner - 8 A great game from Bruno playing it as he should - which King should have used to push forward more. Dyer - 7 Shame the final ball was, more often than not, poor. Campbell - 3 Some lovely skills on the ball...but ultimately worthless. When push comes to shove, this players is scared of shooting at the goal - he has no bollocks. Get rid, I'm sick of seeing him in a blue shirt. Fryatt - 8 Played an excellent team game (even if he'd be made to look stupid against a decent defence). No one else would have given him that space and time for the goal - but it was very well taken and I thought his work-rate was (sorry Kilworth) worth a contract extension. This isn't last season's Matty Fryatt. Gradel - 5 One corner won, one decent corner crossed, two decent passes, one assist. The rest of his game sucked arse - where's his bloody confidence? Why won't he run at defenders rather than into them? Howard - 8 Anyone missing what Howard contributes needs to turn around and face the pitch for a change or drink less.
reynard Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 Martin 7 one great save kept us level. Not much to do but did it ok. Edworthy 7 defended well. Tunchev 6 Not at his best especially in the first half. Two poor errors both of which nearly led to goals. Morrison 6 Average performance. Mattock 6 Some good bits of play and some average ones. Oakley 6 Largely innefective but one good header in the first half. Berner 6 Another with an ok performance. Gives the side more balance. Dyer 6 Similar to the others. Looked good at times but drifted in and out of the game too much. King 7 Another goal and again played some good forward passes. Gains an extra point for the goal. Fryatt 7 Another class finish and some good movement. DJ 3 At fault for the goal and offered absolutely nothing whatsoever. His first touch was mainly poor and his movement off the ball was non existent. Possibly the biggest waste of money our club has ever had (and I include Akinbiyi in that). Gradel 5 ok but looks desperately short of confidence. 1 good corner and 3 bad ones. 1 or 2 good crosses and the rest were awful. He just doesn't look before he passes the ball. tried hard though. Howard 7 He did well tonight. won most things in the air closed down well and held the ball up ok and linked up play well. On another planet to Dj.
lildave3 Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 Is it just me that thought Martin should be abused with a whip for being beaten at the near post like that?
DBEightyFive Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 Is it just me that thought Martin should be abused with a whip for being beaten at the near post like that? No I agree completely. Cardinal sin for a keeper to be beaten at the near post.
Nod.E Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 Martin - 6 - Front post. Goalkeepers should not be beat at their front post. Bad communication. Gets a mark for his 1 on 1, though. Edworthy - 6 - Erm?... Morrison - 5 - Typified the 'this it too easy' attitude of the night. Tunchev - 8 - "oh, the ball's in leicester's half, something might... Oh no, Tunch is on it." He is a machine. Mattock - 6 - Swept up nicely once or twice. A bit hesitant at times though. Oakley - 7 - Always looking to go forward, unlike most tonight. Always dangerous with shots, and his header too. King - 6.5 - Again, poor performance, vital goal. It seems we need him for his goals, even though he isn't playing well recently? Berner - 7 - Solid. Dyer - 7 - Good running, good touches. Not quite as brilliant as he can be. Campbell - 6 - I'm unsure about him. He didn't seem to do much. Fryatt - 7 Good goal and laying off. Gradel - 6 - Some of his crossing was poor. But he atleast looked to attack when we needed it, and his corner was class. Howard - 6 - Am I the only one who thinks he's good?
Daggers Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 No. We dicked about in defence and asked for that goal, which was well taken. Martin wasn't to blame, the team was because we went soft after we scored...just like we did after we scored the second, the passion that led up to it vanished.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 25 November 2008 Posted 25 November 2008 Martin 6 Edworthy 6 Morrison 6 Tunchev 7 Mattock 7 Dyer 7 King 6 Berner 6 Oakley 7 Fryatt 7 Campbell 5 Howard 7 Gradel 7 Looks like I've marked Mattock and Gradel generously by most peoples' standards but I thought their forward drive was crucial to us winning that game.
