I think people are underestimating Laursen's abilities in here personally. I'm sure if you asked Aston Villa fans they'd value him as one of their best assets, definitely defensively. For a centre back he scores some priceless goals along the way.

I'd have him over most Premiership central defenders but not Carragher.

Do you not thing he's staring to die down a bit like Paul Scholes

Carew's scored 5 in no way near as many apperances as Anelka and co at the top of the top scorers league.

No. Still the best defender in the Premiership in my opinion, I don't care what you say about Carvalho, Vidic, Ferdinand or anybody else for that matter. Consistently produces performance after performance for a Liverpool defence which ships very few goals.

Shingy you been watching Sky Sports News tonight? If so you will probably have seen the vote thingy today and it was 'Who has been the best Premier League defender in 2008?'. Shingler guess what? Jamie Carragher won. So for saying nobody rates him proves how stupid you really are because by the sounds of it 50% of voting British people feel that he is the best defender in the Premier League. Chin up Soldier.

i was really annoyed when he retired, carragher is one of the best if not the best defender in britain, if you asked all the managers in britain would they have him in their side 9 out of 10 would say yes

That's three you've mentioned out of a squad of around 25/26. They didn't have players of the same quality playing with them. I'm not a Liverpool fan and I rate Carragher, Gerrard and Torres pretty highly.

All the top players need real quality around them. Would Ronaldo have been as effective without Rooney, Tevez, Scholes, Giggs?
