Uncle Albert Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 In other news Laursen is out for 2 months. Blessing in disguise.
fox123 Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 Purchased Heskey Oh I am looking forward to playing FIFA 09 again now
dandannieldanok Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 Pointless signing imo, why doesn't MON just clear the air with John Carew if he wants a target man in his team.

dandannieldanok Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 Yea really pointless. Signing England's best striker is pointless. Jeez! £3.5 million is a snip. 3 goals for Wigan all season, if Heskey is England's best striker then we won't be making the world cup. Even Owen's scored more. Heskey's very useful but Villa are hardly struggling.

Heskey's very useful but Villa are hardly struggling. There's more to being a striker than scoring, even though scoring helps. Look at how many goals Heskey has created this season. John Carew has hardly set the Premier League on fire this season has he? 5 goals is it? Great signing.
Corky Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 Great signing for the Villa, Heskey will do well there.

I don't think there is a great deal of difference between Carew and Heskey except the former is a few years younger therefore more of an asset. Plus, as I've said before they've been doing even better without a big target man.
Tommeh Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 You only need to see Zaki's stats this season to make your Judgement on Heskey. With clowns like Bellamy going for £14m, this is an absolute steal contract expiring or not.
lildave3 Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 :w00t: Gabby Agbonlahor's career has just took off.

Expect to see Bellamy move again in the summer. He's the Trevor Benjamin of permanent transfers.

fox123 Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 I thought defensively in the 2nd half anyway Sidwell contributed more, Petrov seemed to run with the ball then hit a brick wall. Agree with the additional striker, I can see MON buying a more experienced striker to play along side Agbonlahor to pep him up a bit. Similar to what he did with Heskey when he got Claridge to play along side him. Nice call.
Nationwider Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 I wonder if we'll see: --------------- Heskey - Agbonlahor ------------- Young ---------- x ----------- x ----------- Milner for England soon? Barry as well, even.
Ashley Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 I wonder if we'll see:--------------- Heskey - Agbonlahor ------------- Young ---------- x ----------- x ----------- Milner Beckham/Blentley for England soon? Barry as well, even.
fox123 Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 I wonder if we'll see:--------------- Heskey - Agbonlahor ------------- Young ---------- x ----------- x ----------- Milner for England soon? Barry as well, even. You have to admire MON for the squad he is creating. I would have loved him to of been England manager, but then Capello is doing a decent job. I wish we could go back to capping foreign players, maximum of 4 on the field at anyone time.
Nationwider Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 I was really just pointing out the novelty of four Villa players possibly lining up together, rather than picking my side. Well, Capello's been talking up Milner in the press recently so we'll see. It's good to have some wide options for a change though.
