Still would find it beyond hilarious if they do get 4th and Arsenal win the European Cup.

Ah well if they want to fucckk it up themselves then thats fine. Can't stand them.

I really want O'Neill to get that 4th spot but it don't look good. Arsenal are lookin like they back on form at the right time and I can't see them slippin up now. Shame

Amusing.

Liverpool have tore them a new one. Riera's goal was absolutely quality.

That game was brilliant. Liverpool have turned a leaf since that convincing win against Real Madrid. They have now scored 4 or more goals in the last 3 games.

Villa looked poor all round today.

Harsh red card for Friedel. Unfortunately, following the LOTG, it was correct mind.

What the fuck is LOTG?

& if you are saying Friedel's red card was deserved then you are an idiot.

It should have been a penalty and a yellow card. Reo-Coker was covering.

Villa made Liverpool look better than they were.

Average at best.

The game had the feel of a liverpool win throughout, but Villa were fairly unlucky considering at 1-0 they brought a number of decent saves from Renia and looked dangerous going forward.

I was impressed with Liverpools confidence when passing the ball, quick incisive one and two touch stuff with numerous players moving off the ball to give options.

Fair play to the Villa fans - great spirit with the 'we're gonna win 6-5 chant.' I think both sets of fans were joining in the 4-5 minute 'handball chants' and it was class as soon as they realised it'd gone out for a throw in!

And I was impressed with Milner - kept running all day.

Deserved? No.

Fair? No.

Under the laws of the game was it correct? Yes.

"Denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity" - If you can tell me that having one man between you and the goal who is not the goalkeeper therefore cannot use his hands (and even when the defender is the last man and the striker has the GK to beat it's still a red card...) is not an obvious goal scoring opportunity then I don't know what is.

And sadly had he shown common sense (what with the game gone and understanding there was no need to send him off) he would no doubt have got a black mark against his name from the referee officiando's. Although Torres should take most of the blame for a crap touch!

C-Man - I said they would get a right tonking at Liverpool didnt I?

Villa have well and truely bottled it now, pussying out of the UEFA Cup seems very silly now.

Throughout this thread I have said they werent good enough to break the top four until they bring in a few more players and I looked to have been proved right but there is still time for Arsenal to slip up again.

Liverpool looked very sound yesterday, the midfield trio of Mascherano, Alonso and Gerrard at the minute is probably the best around.

All good points.

Villa just seem to always make simple individual errors that cost them. Reo Cokers tackle was lazy and he should really have defended that a lot better. It was that goal that killed the game in my opinion.

As you say, Liverpool's passing was sublime, always moving it quickly and directly, Villa had no answer to that and until they do, they just cannot challenge the top four.

I also thought it was at first glance but when you watch it again it is a very good touch. He slightly over hits it to try and draw the keeper which half fails. His intention is to draw the keeper and then at a blink of a second tap it past him. If Friedal ran out for it he would of got to it as he might of hit slightly harder than he wanted to but Friedal was wise to it and knew exactly what he was doing and stood his ground and made contact when the Torres flicked past him. Was very unlucky to get sent off but my first thoughts were he is off.

Wonder what Fergie will say if Friedel keeps a clean sheet at Man Utd next week now his appeal has been successful
