Bert Posted 20 December 2008 Posted 20 December 2008 Martin 7 - Made a good tackle and got some vital punches on the ball when Peterborough threatened. Gilbert 7 - I love this guy. Solid and dependable, supported the attack well. Berner 7 - Poor first half, but very solid in the second half, linked up well with others. Hobbs 7 - Made some vital clearances, over-shadowed. Tunch 8 - Solid as a rock, won everything, too good for this league. Oakley 8 - Two assists, neat passing, good tackles and general work rate. Dyer 6 - Looked dangerous at times, looked better than in the past few games. Davies 8 - I hope we sign him. Absolute quality, the perfect foil for King, worked hard, tried to make things happen. King 7 - Didn't do much in the first half, scored another headed goal, a calm and assured performance. Fryatt 8 - Could've scored early on, didn't let his head drop, an assist for the first goal, scored the second and ran the channels well. Howard 8 - Won everything, worked hard, scored a great goal too. So pleased that he scored - you could see how happy the team and management were for him. Dickov 5 - His biggest contribution was a booking, where the fook is DJ.
Legend_in_blue Posted 20 December 2008 Posted 20 December 2008 I'm well up for this. They will come at us. They will fail. We will crush them 3-something. As with all teams that come at us. The way I see it, if they come at us 4-5-1, they'll be trying to nick a point like all the others. If they come at us like MK Dons, Tranmere etc. they will get hammered. Anyway, onto the ratings... Martin - 7 - Commanded well. Gilbert - 7 - Great, bags of energy. The Tunch - 9 - Man mountain. Hobbs - 7 - Quiet, yet effectice. Berner - 6.5 - Suspect first half, better second. Oakley - 8 - Quality. Looking for "the pass" all the time. Davies - 8 - This bloke is quality. Sign him up! One of his through balls was fantastic second half. King - 8 - Great. Getting better and better every game. Dyer - 6.75 - Quiet first half, but looked better second with more licence to run. Fryatt - 8 - Made their defence look extremely dodgy. Howard - 9 - GET IN GET IN GET IN GET IN GET IN!!! Quality. You deserve that goal. Well done. Subs: Dickov - N/a - quality challenge on their player though to get the yellow! Pearson - 9 - It's all about 'the team' performance and he is getting 'the team' playing extremely well. Well done. Yet another team falls by the wayside. Bring on the Leeds!
Mark Posted 20 December 2008 Posted 20 December 2008 Martin 7 Gilbert 8 Tunchev 9 Hobbs 7 Berner 7 Oakley © 8 Davies 8 King 7 Dyer 8 Fryatt 8 Howard 7 Dickov 4 just came on and totally took his frustration out on his teammates, which isn't very helpful to a team on top form before you entered the play. His involvement will have a negative effect. Campbell please.

Munzie Posted 20 December 2008 Posted 20 December 2008 Martin 7 - Not much to do other then routine saves. Still worries me on the odd occasion (not convinced he is the first choice for the rest of the season). Gilbert 8 - Looked good going forward, linked up well with Oakley and King Berner 7 - Would have preferred Powell. Too many mis-placed passes. Seems to suit midfield better. Hobbs 7 - Blows hot & cold thoughout the match. Still learning. Tunchev 9 - MOM. Immense today. I think he won just about every ball that came his way. What a signing he has been! Oakley 9 - Created so much play and kept going. He's beginning to get my vote for club captain over the longer term. Dyer 7.5 - Not as threatening as he can be. Better second half. Davies 7.5 - Some great runs forward and understanding with his midfield colleagues. King 8 - Solid performance. He is silencing more critics each time he plays. Fryatt 9 - Playing with real confidence at the moment. You just know he'll score. Howard 8 - Another solid display today, capped off with a well deserved goal. Dickov 6 - Looked too fired up for this one. Although the booking looked harsh, his reaction did him no favours. Fans 9 - Good atmosphere today in the Kop and around the ground. Merry Christmas!
Thracian Posted 20 December 2008 Posted 20 December 2008 Martin 7 (Not a lot to do but did it well, particularly early on and with his small but vital part in keeping Posh out when they hit post and bar). Gilbert 7.5 (Involved in making the second goal and offered positive all-round support going forward and reliale defence at the back). Tunchev 8.5 (Hard to fault him today. His organisational presence, positional play and absolute calmness was the cornerstone of a generally decent defensive performance against lively and potentially dangerous attackers). Hobbs 7.5 (Looked commanding and had an assist in the Fryatt goal but I was always glad when he got rid of the ball cos sometimes he hangs on to it a bit too long). Berner 7 (Not always convincing. He allowed one or two crosses to be made that shouldn't have been but was otherwise steady enough). Oakley 7.5 (Another assist, lots of involvement in what was a pretty relentless, if controlled, attacking display by City including a fair few pots shots). Davies 7.5 (Lively, positive and willing to shoot despite being a bit wayward). King 8 (The fulcrum once again. Tidied so many bits and pieces then constructively set us in motion again. Added his seventh goal of the season by quietly ghosting into the near post and just before that produced a sublime outside-of-the foot pass which put Dyer right through to a position from which he should have scored. Had another powerful on-target effort blocked). Dyer 7.5 (Missed one excellent chance but gave his full-back endless problems, getting round the back on several occasions, geting passes into the box and making further runs down the centre). Fryatt 8.5 (Another goal, his 23rd of the season and an assist that came out of absolutely nothing and was simply the result of bloody-minded persistence. Looked sharp, aware and dangerous. Never thought I say he missed one real goal chance by being selfless and passing but it happened today!) Howard 8.5 (How relieved he was to score and so many of Leicester's flood of good moves involved his head or his touch). Subs Dickov 5 (I was disappointed Pearson didn't use the chance to give Greadel a confidence booster. But while almost created a goal from the right, played a part in Howard's goal and was involved in another good move I'd have been tempted to take him back off again after three or four minutes when he committed a totally unnecessary foul on a Petrborough defender, got booked and carried on chopsing. He then seemed to have a go at Dyer and I really wasn't impressed. Yes, I know he's a hundred per center and a bit of a volatile firework but had he been sent off we would have been under totally unnecessary pressure.). Pearson 9 (Apart from the substitution and our team conceding too much ground at the start of the second half, just about as good as it gets for a manager. Four goals at home against a title contender, defensive clean sheet and very few chances conceded in achieving that. At the other end we might have had more and almost the entire team can be proud of the part they played as individuals).
Webbo Posted 20 December 2008 Posted 20 December 2008 Dickov 5 (I was disappointed Pearson didn't use the chance to give Greadel a confidence booster.) I was surprised at that too. He could have given him 5/10 minutes replacing either Dyer or Oakley with the game already won.

RowlattsFox Posted 20 December 2008 Posted 20 December 2008 Martin -7- Could have been more commanding first half but was good second. Gilbert -8- Always a outlet, wish he was better in attacking positions though. Hobbs -8- Tunchev will get the plaudits probably but I thought Hobbs was excellent today. Tunchev -8- Just too good for this level. Berner -7- Thought he was the weak link in the first half but got better as game went on. Oakley -8- Was outstanding at times, but frustrating at other times. Takes up some great position in his new position. King -7.5- Quieter of the 2 in the middle but was always in control, great run and header and could have scored another. Davies -8.5- Man of the match, ran the show in my opinion, first half in particular. Looks a very good player. Dyer -7- Was always dangerous. Howard -8- So glad he scored, great hold up play and vision. Fryatt -8- Ran the channels brilliantly, cool finish.
BedsFox Posted 20 December 2008 Posted 20 December 2008 Just one comment Tunchev 10. Absolutely brilliant performance. Completely dominant.

Jimmy Posted 20 December 2008 Posted 20 December 2008 why do people want Campbell he's useless better off letting Chambers or 1 of the other kids have that spot
Thracian Posted 20 December 2008 Posted 20 December 2008 why do people want Campbell he's useless better off letting Chambers or 1 of the other kids have that spot On what basis? I don't think I'm slow to make a case for the youngsters but honestly can't think of any way to argue that one at the moment.
Jimmy Posted 20 December 2008 Posted 20 December 2008 On what basis?I don't think I'm slow to make a case for the youngsters but honestly can't think of any way to argue that one at the moment. the fact Campbell's career record is shocking, never looks like scoring or even like he wants to shoot I would of thought you would of been all for Chambers or Billy McKay getting a regular spot on the bench

syston_fox Posted 20 December 2008 Posted 20 December 2008 Martin 5 - Scares the hell out of me - rush of blood charging out when he had no chance and thankfully pulled out a Tunchev style slide tackle to save himself. Piss poor punching too that thankfully always fell to defenders. Gilbert 7 - Good at the back and going forward. A real asset and links well with Oakley. Berner 7 - Perfect replacement for Mattock should we cash in. Hobbs 7 - Standard Hobbs performance Tunch 9 - God. Oakley 9 - looks so much better in his right wing role. Becomming a great asset for this league Dyer 6 - Quiet game by his standards but still dangerous times. Davies 8 - Good performance and the more stylish midfield player - looks like he could have a few goals in him. King 7 - Typical King performance. Quietly gets on with his job without excelling and then pops up with a goal. Fryatt 8 - Very well taken goal. Brilliant for our first and becomming a real team player - unlike the Fryatt of previous seasons Howard 8 - Won everything and becomming the Howard I expected when he first signed. Great goal - and boy did he need that! Dickov n/a - What was the point of that booking? And he didnt half slag Dyer off when they didnt link up together!
dandannieldanok Posted 20 December 2008 Posted 20 December 2008 Martin 6 (Held all the easy shots but didn't look comfortable on crosses) Gilbert 6.5 (Breezed through the game, wasn't really troubled in defence) Hobbs 6.5 (A few mistimings but generally decent) Tunchev 9 (Faultless in defence, won every aerial battle) Berner 6 (Improved as the game went on, looked a bit rattled early on) Oakley 7.5 (The odd sloppy pass but worked the right channel really well, a definite threat all game) Davies 7.5 (Simply a very good midfielder, the majority of his passes were accurate and probing) King 7 (Very slow start but showed his quality in the second half, another headed goal) Dyer 7 (Back to his early season form, ran the full-back ragged) Fryatt 7.5 (A few missed chances but created the first goal and scored the second, can't ask for much more) Howard 8 (Won most of his aerial battles and linked up well with midfield, very good finish) Dickov 5

I had hoped the lad might make the bench a few times but that's looking less and less likely as things stand. It's not as if I've heard of him scoring bags of goals in the Reserves' friendlies. Or Chambers for that matter. Yes, it would be great to see them have a chance and do well but there's simply no basis for an argument. Billy Kee and Ric Sappleton are the only strikers I've seen lately and I couldn't make a case for them either right now.
