Uncle Albert Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 Up the Celts! Shame McGeady didnt play <_<
Daggers Posted 27 December 2008 Author Posted 27 December 2008 Not the cleverest of games to be honest - but an enjoyable result all the same.
Darkzzz_ Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 Why are we even discussing the SPL? A two team league and a poor one at that.
Ashley Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 Why are we even discussing the SPL?A two team league and a poor one at that. Agreed. I think they'd struggle in the premiership. The SPL is a pointless league really Rangers & Celtic both get european qualifcations every season it should be made harder for them to qualify for europe in my eyes.
Libertine Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 51 glorious league titles you mug All in the past.
Daggers Posted 27 December 2008 Author Posted 27 December 2008 All in the past. All totally irrelevant on a Leicester forum. Maybe he should try posting that on a Celtic one to get the response he craves?
Finnegan Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 Celtic would be a midtable Premiership Club. People who talk down the SPL seriously over-rate the Boltons, Middlesboroughs, Portsmouths, Fulhams and the like of this world.
Floating Fox Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 The SPL is a pointless league really Don't you want the scots to play football? I know their crap at it but c'mon... PS Finners be correcto.

Jay Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Why are we even discussing the SPL?A two team league and a poor one at that. Premier League Winners since 95-96 1995–96 Manchester United 1996–97 Manchester United 1997–98 Arsenal 1998–99 Manchester United 1999–00 Manchester United 2000–01 Manchester United 2001–02 Arsenal 2002–03 Manchester United 2003–04 Arsenal 2004–05 Chelsea 2005–06 Chelsea 2006–07 Manchester United 2007–08 Manchester United A 2 Team League is pointless but the premier league is almost as predictable

However, they're nothing compared to this. http://www.worldssmallestleague.co.uk/html/league_table.html Come on Woolpack!
Darkzzz_ Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Premier League Winners since 95-961995–96 Manchester United 1996–97 Manchester United 1997–98 Arsenal 1998–99 Manchester United 1999–00 Manchester United 2000–01 Manchester United 2001–02 Arsenal 2002–03 Manchester United 2003–04 Arsenal 2004–05 Chelsea 2005–06 Chelsea 2006–07 Manchester United 2007–08 Manchester United A 2 Team League is pointless but the premier league is almost as predictable Yeah I see what point you are making and a valid one at that. But if you really break it down, we have teams in the Premiership that can damage the top four, more than can be said for the SPL. I know there are upsets now and again but the top two is pretty much a formality up there. Whilst I say that, I would love a team to actually win the SPL title other than Rangers or Celtic. It would be great for the league. Money is a huge factor though as always.
Jimmy Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Premier League Winners since 95-961995–96 Manchester United 1996–97 Manchester United 1997–98 Arsenal 1998–99 Manchester United 1999–00 Manchester United 2000–01 Manchester United 2001–02 Arsenal 2002–03 Manchester United 2003–04 Arsenal 2004–05 Chelsea 2005–06 Chelsea 2006–07 Manchester United 2007–08 Manchester United A 2 Team League is pointless but the premier league is almost as predictable yes but if you tracked the top 4 over all those seasons it'd only be that past couple of years it was the same clubs all the time, remember back in the mid 90's although Man Utd tended to win the league it was nearly always a 2,3 or 4 horse race with different clubs finishing second every year
Tevez Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 How people can slag off the SPL and least Celtic and Rangers have made decent efforts in European Competitions also when your mid table teams wouldn't win the SPL. Not like the Taffs or the Paddys (Northern and Republic) who can't win a game in Europe for love nor money. It's not exactly a "pointless" ( ) as some might say. At least the Aberdeens, Motherwells and Hearts give it a good go and do well in competitions aswell as Leagues. Imagine how good it would be to follow Queen on the South or Gretna in the UEFA Cup, Imagine the buzz Annan Athletic got their first taste of League Status, Imagine East Stirling going up a division (which is likely) after years of being the worst club in Scotland. Imagine Aberdeen getting a draw at Bayern Munich. (With Alan Maybury) Also a Hamilton Academicals midfielder who is being linked with Barcelona, unreal hey? It might be smaller leagues but there certainly better entertainment than the English Leagues bar Premiership and maybe Championship.
Bryn Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Anyone who thinks Rangers and Celtic would be anything other than title challengers in the EPL within a decade, probably much less, is a plank. They already have a lot of prestige in that sack of wank league, they'd be MASSIVE in the Premiership, they are much much bigger than Middlesborough, Fulham etc. and would be raking it in in the Premier League.
Finnegan Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Burnham raises an oft' overlooked point. Glasgee's a massive city, the both have massive stadia and huge fanbases. The potential for financial enormity is there. Celtic in particular could be one of the biggest businesses in world sport were they to enter the EPL. I agree with Tevez' point about the SPL and entertainment, too.
dandannieldanok Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 I don't see the point in people slagging off the SPL saying it is a pointless league, if you don't like it just ignore it. Unless you live in Scotland, the SPL doesn't get much media coverage (unless you go looking for it). I don't really take much notice of the SPL but I'd never wish it to be finished/abolished.
