Joe. Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Martin 6 - Dealt with what little he had to do well enough. Gilbert 6 - Not his greatest performance ever, but again I thought he was a little isolated at times with little support from other players. Looks a little unsteady on the ball at the moment. Hobbs 7 - I'm not sure who's fault it was for their goal, but I thought he was one of our better performers today, winning most things in the air and stopping whatever came his way. Morrison 6 - A little shaky at times but all in all I thought he was steady enough. Berner N/A Davies 7 - One of the only players looking to make things happen on the attacking front. His usual confident self, never afraid to run past players and find space. King 6.5 - Extra half for his well-taken goal, steady game without doing a great deal of note. Oakley 8* - Best player on the pich comfortably. Ran his bollocks off all game to try and get things going, and had a big hand in King's goal. Man of the match. Dyer 4 - Awful performance from him on a day that really could have been his for the taking. You can see he's lacking so much confidence, he won't try and beat his man and thus fails to get crosses in. Everytime he played a pass it went to Hereford. Time for a rest perhaps? Fryatt 6 - From what I saw of him in the first half he played well, working hard once again down the channels. So much better than Dickov. Howard 6.5 - Had very little support today. All he was provided with were balls to head on to the clown next to him today. Subs: Mattock 6 - Saw very little of him really. Defended well against Ainsworth who clearly has pace to burn. Offered little attacking wise though when Dyer clearly needed him. Dickov 4 - Shockingly poor. Totally off the pace and gave Howard no help whatsoever. I think his performance today highlighted the importance of Fryatt's signed contract. Adams 5 - Almost as bad as Dyer.
Tilley Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Martin 6 - Made one very good save but flapped at a few crosses, not convinced Gilbert 7 - Tried to make things happen but didn't have much luck Hobbs 7 - Better than recent performances, finally won some headers Morrison 6 - Ok, he's no Tunch, where was he? Berner 6 - Their right winger had his pants down for pace Oakley 8 - Love him at right wing, completely different player Davies 8 - QUALITY! King 7 - Took his goal well but wasted too many needless long range shots Dyer 5 - Think maybe try Gradel on the left against Palace? Howard 7 - Won everything in the air, again. Nice to see him score aswell Fraytt 7 - Tried to make things happen but wish he had released it to Oakley instead of being greedy. Mattock 6 - Did a steady job & matched their winger for pace Dickov 5 - DJ? Chambers?
lcfc_forever Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Martin 5 - Did OK, although there were a couple of occasions where he decided wrongly to punch the ball away rather than take an easy catch Gilbert 5 - Disappointing as he didn't provide an outlet on the right-hand side in contrast to his form earlier in the season Hobbs 5 - Didn't look as confident as the game went on and Hereford began to pressure Morrison 5.5 - Performed a little better than Hobbs Berner 5 - Put in some decent last ditch challenges as their right-winger was skinning him every time Dyer 5 - Got in some great positions but there was no decent final delivery Davies 6 - Showed his quality in spells and worked hard King 5.5 - Got the all important second goal. Wasn't very productive otherwise Oakley 6 - One of the better performers although still did not have the best of games by his standards Howard 6 - Scored and worked hard throughout the match. However, gave away the free kick which led to the goal. Fryatt 5.5 - Played OK before his injury Subs: Mattock 5.5 - Handled their right-winger better than Berner Dickov 4.5 - Poor Adams - N/A Not enough time to make a meaningful impact Overall, a poor performance and we should be doing better than holding on against Hereford. Nevertheless, a win's a win and pulls us further clear of Millwall.
Mark Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Davies is a class act - 8. Everyone else 6/7 apart from Gilbert - 5 looked devoid of any confidence on the ball today. Subs Dickov - 4 complete waste of space Adams - 5 he can come on and play on the left wing but Gradel who is arguably more effective there can't?
Thracian Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Martin 6.75 (One vital block, a couple decent saves where he needed to hang on to the ball but seemed nowhere along with our central defenders for their goal). Gilbert 6 (His control let him down at times and he didn't look quite as sharp or as keen to support as I've seen him). Hobbs 6 (Won the ball aerially apart from their goal but he really has no idea how to cushion and direct his headers so that we get the ball down and build our attacks from the back). Morrison 6 (Like others seemed nowhere for the free-kick which led to their goal and was another who gave the ball away too easily and unnecessarily). Berner 5 (Don't know whether he was injured or simply couldn't cope with his opponent very well. Two or three times the Hereford lad got into dangerous shooting positions and on other occasions he seemed to have far too much space). Oakley 7.75 (Always involved and a constant handful for Hereford, not least in helping provide King with his goal. The understanding between our midfield and strikers seems excellent at times). Davies 7.75 (Another live-wire performance which saw he and King totally dictate in central midfield. The bloke has skill, pace and confidence but also showed the ability to link in with others, including an excellent final pass for Howard's goal. A real plus for the team.). King 8.25 (Ninth goal of the season, effectively another winner and an opportunity it would have been easy to snatch at. Instead he stayed relaxed and concentrated on hitting the target. Might have had another goal from a quality free-kick which he got up and down past the wall and which would have found the left-hand corner but for a decent save. Seems to be winning more tackles lately and this was the case today while his passing was as reliable and constructive as ever ). Dyer 6 (If Dyer was Gradel he'd be dropped and the people on here would be moaning at him. Seems to have lost the sparkle he had previously despite being put into so many good positions. Yes, he contributed by getting some balls into the box but he never made quite might enough of the situations, he faded as the game progressed and his shooting was a bit wayward too. Howard 8.5 (The bloke was immense again. He led the line like a general. The difference now is that people like Oakley, King, Davies, Dyer and Fryatt know what he can do, they get close enough to him to benefit and Howard just tailors passes for them. Took his goal well to round off a terrific move. Fraytt 7 (Looked sharp and awkward for Hereford to handle. Some of our football early on was exquisite one-touch stuff which took Hereford apart and Fryatt was always involved at that stage. He faded later, as I expected he would and his hopefully minor injury meant he had to go off which, to me, served as a blessing.). Mattock 6.5 (Mattock got involved. He tried to offer support and to get the ball into places it might hurt Hereford). Dickov 5 (Huffed and puffed quite keenly to start with but Leicester increasingly lost their flow towards the end along with their energy, with Dickov looking no more lively than anyone else by the final whistle). Adams 4.5 (Booked for trying to contrive a penalty but generally loooked out of touch and a bit lost. He didn't seem to know precisely where to play and I even remember him crowding King's space in central midfield on one occasion. Clearly rusty and will need more playing time, perhaps in the FA Cup match, to try and establish himself).
davieG Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Martin 6 Gilbert 6 Morrison 6 Hobbs 6 Berner / Mattock 6 Oakley 7 King 7 Davies 7 Dyer 6 Howard 8 Fryatt 7 Dickov 6
Munzie Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Martin 6 - I still cringe during every set piece that he has to deal with. Not quite sure what it is about him that doesn't give me confidence as he had a relatively quiet game with just one comfortable save to make of note. Gilbert 7 - Tried to get forward and create the play whilst maintaining his solid work rate in defence. A definate purchase by the end of the season. Hobbs 6 - Looked more comfortable than he normally is. Morrison 6 - Still very much the apprentice learning his craft. Good cover for Tunchev but not ready as a first team regular. Berner 6 - I'm not convinced that he is as effective playing at the back as in midfield. Although Powell may have been hauled off given their wingers pace, I would like to have seen him given the nod to start (if not injured). Oakley 8 - The conductor of much of the play. Another good performance from him today although he does wonder too far in field some times leaving the right wing vacent. With Davies & King playing so well, I understand why Pearson is happy playing him out of position. Davies 8 - What a month he has had for us. Long may it continue. Loan extension please. King 7 - Seems to take at least half a dozen wayward blasts before fine tuning his aim on goal. That said, had another good game. Dyer 6 - Seemed a little off the pace today. Several telling runs but no end product. A return to form soon would be welcomed. Howard 7 - Key player for us in holding up the ball and a great target man. Goals are the icing on the cake. Fraytt 6 - Not as effective today but who's complaining. Mattock 6 - Did what was required and shut out their winger. If he does go in January I won't be too unhappy. Dickov 5 - Surely just filling the gap until Ashley Chambers is up to speed or another striker arrives.
Legend_in_blue Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 One of those frustrating afternoons has come to an end. But yet again, we're on the right side of the result. Martin - 6 - He always looks to punch the ball away - why not try catching it? Berner - 5.5 - He looked off the pace. Too many mince pies for him. Morrison - 5.5 - Suspect positionally. Got away with it on more than one occasion. Hobbs - 6.5 - Did ok. More comfortable next to the Tunch though. Gilbert - 6 - Got forward as well as ever but often gave the ball away in areas. Sloppy. Dyer - 5 - He's had too many mince pies. Davies - 8 - We need to sign him up - either permanently or get him on a season long loan please. King - 8 - Great partnership growing with Davies. Looked really good. Ran the midfield. Took goal very well. Oakley - 8 - Very good. Lively performance. Fryatt - 6 - Didn't do a lot. Probably a good thing he is slightly injured. I wouldn't play him next Saturday. Give him a two week break. We need him 100%. Howard - 7 - Immense for the team. Great finish from a superb ball from Davies. Subs: Dickov - 5 - He's been on the mince pies. Mattock - 6 - Didn't notice him. Adams - 5 - Did he dive? Looked like a penalty to me. But I was on the other side of the pitch. Apart from that, did nothing of note. Our midfield got us through this game. We weren't saying that a year ago. The midfield today was great. We looked a little knackered, understandable, but got through. Fair play. 3 points and the 4 we needed from the last two games. I'm happy.

Agree completely about Fryatt needing to rest up next Saturday so he can be fit and sharp again for the second half of the League campaign. It shouldn't harm Dickov's cause to start a game.
RowlattsFox Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Martin -6.5- Only made one mistake from that I can remember but that was down to poor communication from the defenders more than anything. Gilbert -6- Always willing but he's not too good on the ball. Hobbs -6.5- Was solid enough but I always felt he wasn't entirely comfortable. Morrison -6.5- Same as Hobbs. Berner -6- Ok. Oakley -7- Great movement, calm in possesion. Davies -7- Whenever he had the ball he was looking for something, didn't see enough of the ball though. King -6.5- Quiet for large parts but that normally a good sign because it means he's going to score. Good finish but shooting was off today. Dyer -5.5- He's always a threat but his final ball is awful at the minute. Howard -6.5- Decent enough, silly tackle led to their goal. Fryatt -6- Was looking pretty good, was dangerous. Mattock -6-5- Decent. Dickov -5- Did a couple of good things but had no understanding with Howard.
escape2victory Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Everyone 7 apart from Oakley 8 and Davies 9

Legend_in_blue Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Agree completely about Fryatt needing to rest up next Saturday so he can be fit and sharp again for the second half of the League campaign. It shouldn't harm Dickov's cause to start a game. In some ways next week is a nothing game. It means nothing other than taking 'a championship scalp'. However, the fact that we are seen as underdogs annoys me. Why should we be? I seem to recollect we beat them last season when they'd been on a ridiculously long unbeaten run. As much as I'd like to show them how good we are, I don't think it is justifiable to put out our best players, like Fryatt, and have them risking injury. We had this with Mattock in that tin cup competition earlier on this season. The priority is on getting another 45 points, forget the FA cup.
Father Ted Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Martin - 6 Gilbert - 6.5 Hobbs - 7 Morrison - 6.5 Berner - 5 Oakley - 7.5 Davies - 10 King - 7 (would have been higher but tired a lot towards the end which meant we struglled in midfield, time for a rest I reckon) Dyer - 6 Howard - 7 Fryatt - 7 Dickov - 5 Mattock - 6 Adams - 5
Daggers Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Martin - 5, I'd have gone for a six but that flap at the ball was genuinely shockingly bad. Gilbert - 6 Hobbs - 6 Morrison - 5, he's starting to piss me off...that push was a pathetic error of judgement Berner - 5 Oakley - 7 Davies - 8 King - 7 Dyer - 6 Howard - 6, gifting the oppo a goal wipes out his other efforts for me today Fraytt - 7, lively until the injury Mattock - 6 Dickov - 5, yet again offering nothing to the team. There seems to be nothing outside planet Dickov.
Jimmy Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Martin 6 Gilbert 6 Hobbs 6 Morrison 6 Berner 5 Oakley 7 Davies 8 King 7 Dyer 5 Fryatt 5 Howard 7 Mattock 6 Dickov 4 Adams 5 today would of been the best time to try Gradel on the left for the last 20 mins or so, wasted opportunity
Fez of Mahrez Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Martin 6 Gilbert 6 Hobbs 6 Morrison 6 Berner 6 Oakley 7 Davies 8 King 7 Dyer 6 Howard 7 Fryatt 7 Mattock 6 Dickov 5 Agree with those.
Thracian Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 King - 7 (would have been higher but tired a lot towards the end which meant we struglled in midfield, time for a rest I reckon) Our whole team went to sleep when Kingy scored the second goal. It was as if, once again, they thought it was job done. The Hereford goal, from a dubious free-kick, was just sloppy from our point of view and thereafter we struggled to find any purpose whatsoever, finally resorting to the sort of shitty keepball tactics that cost us so dearly against Charlton last season...we really don't ever learn. A second goal should be the signal for us to increase our concentration and to retain possession by passing the ball quickly and consistently but, instead, we just seem to turn off.
Cobbo Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Martin - 6 - good kicking and handling generally. One moment where he had an easy catch but elected to punch, suggests he is lacking in confidence somwhat. Gilbert - 6 Hobbs - 7 ---------------all of the back 4 did as expected really without excelling. Morrison - 7 Berner - 6 Oakley - 8 - just makes us tick. King - 7 - Good strike and some good bits and bobs throughout as ever Davies - 8 - Don't know if we can sign him, but I hope we keep him for at least a little longer. Brilliant ball carrier and great energy in the middle. Dyer - 6 - lacking a bit of confidence and it's not quite running for him at the moment. He'll be back though. Howard - 8 - winning headers and holding the ball up always. Took his goal well. Fryatt - 7 - great energy and new found pace running the channels until injury. Subs: Mattock - 7 Dickov - 6 Adams - 5 - not a good day at the office!
Joe. Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Davies - 10 I hope that was tongue in cheek. He wasn't that good!
lildave3 Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 I hope that was tongue in cheek. He wasn't that good! Nor did Dyer deserve a 4!
Joe. Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Nor did Dyer deserve a 4! He was shocking today Ben. Constantly gave away possession, never beat his man and provided very little.
