Nick Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 Arshavin is a fooking quality. I loved this kid in Euro's.ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRSHAVIN, ARRRRRRRRRSHAVIN. Ditto, - overated maybe, but for me was the player of the tournament in the Euro's simply because I knew zilch about him and he looked like pure raw talent for his country....... wild guy though, tragic family history which verges on scary, personality and temperament is a ticking bomb........ will need strong man-management from Wenger.
dandannieldanok Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 I think he'll either be great and really engineer an Arsenal surge or be a complete flop. He was brilliant at times in Euro 08 but doesn't strike me as the most consistent player out there.
Carlos9 Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 Rosicky all over again i reckon. He was quallity in the World Cup. Come to arsenal.. not all that too be fair.
Fosse Boy Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 One great tournament (and admittedly he was brilliant) does not make a great player. He should dip his toe somewhere else in the top flight outside the 'big four' to see whether he can make the grade in the English game. Alternatively, he could just go and play in a different country.
Uncle Albert Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 Matthew Upson £11 million?! Jesus christ. If he is worth that Barton is worth £25 million easily.
J.Lisemore Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 Prolific Rangers striker Kris Boyd looks to be heading to Birmingham. Cant really see why Rangers are willing to sell him...hes their star striker with 18 goals already this season. If you ask me this is a great signing for Brum and have apparently already had a £3million bid accepted. Link
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Arshavin will prove anyone doubting him wrong. He's been consistently brilliant in the Russian League for the past few seasons (and wasn't just a one-hit wonder at Euro 2008), a league which is hardly uncompetetive. He was influential in Zenit's amazing UEFA cup run / win and was talismanic when he appeared for Russia in the Euros. As Albert has said, perhaps he is more suited to the pace of the game in Italy / Spain but it shouldn't take him long to adapt, the speed and style of the game in Russia has developed to be similar to the Premier League. That's why Russia have been producing some top-quality attacking full backs in recent years and played some exciting stuff in Euro 2008. He's exactly what Arsenal need at the minute, someone with character, drive and determination, something which is severely lacking in their current side. Nasri, while not a flop, is hardly "The New Zidane" that some of the press were suggesting, Fabregas is having a poor season by his usually impeccable standards, and Rosicky appears to be forever injured. Him and Fabregas in the centre, perhaps with Arshavin even playing as a support striker to Adebayor, is Top 4 quality, no doubt about that. What Wenger needs to do is bring in the quality before he clears the deadwood. Players like Niklas Bendtner have no future at Arsenal. Denilson on trial with Bolton. Mixed emotions. On the one hand, Denilson, one of my favourite players of all-time, will be playing in the Premier League. On the other, he'll be in a Bolton shirt.

I looked on Wikipedia for more details on this, but couldn't find them. Any idea where we could find more about his background?
Nick Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 I looked on Wikipedia for more details on this, but couldn't find them. Any idea where we could find more about his background? One of the articles I read was on BBC Sport...... His wife and child died a couple of years back after 'jumping' from a tower block............ I'll see what I can dig out. No pun intended: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/ju...russia.euro2008 OK SORRY....... he is a spoilt child but does not have a dead wife and child this was another player : Zyryanov: http://www.footballinrussia.com/?tag=arshavin
RedHux Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Forest are looking at some midget from Chesterfield. Ward I think? Plays up front.
CosbehFox Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Forest are looking at some midget from Chesterfield. Ward I think? Plays up front. Barnsley have placed a substanial bid and Viking Stavanager are also interested.
RedHux Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 Barnsley have placed a substanial bid and Viking Stavanager are also interested. £400k I've heard but Chesterfield are asking for another £100k as he's got a sell on and they won't make all that much out of it.

Part Of The Crowd Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 ward is quality and worth far more than chesterfield are selling him for far better than jack lester who is their 'star striker' he could easily fetch £1 million or more

J.Lisemore Posted 8 January 2009 Posted 8 January 2009 Former Middlebrough target Peter Lovenkrands has been released by Schalke by mutual consent. I was quite suprised at this as i rememeber him being a decent player for Rangers not long ago. Should think he will be snapped up in no time. Link Also, Lee Bowyer looks set to move to birmingham.. Link

dandannieldanok Posted 8 January 2009 Posted 8 January 2009 Middlesbrough have turned down a £4.5m bid for Gary O'Neil from Portsmouth.
