Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 January 2009 Posted 19 January 2009 That would be interesting... but Jose Mourinho says there's no truth to that rumor and claims it started because he picked Jenas for his fantasy team. Ha. I agree. I think there needs to be more English players competing in foreign leagues. It'll only help their technique and style.
Joe. Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 Pennant to Pompey on Loan So after all this nonsense circulating around him about moving to some of the best clubs in the world he ends up at Portsmouth on loan? Don't rate him at all.
lildave3 Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 Good signing for them though I reckon. He's nowhere near Liverpool quality, but he'll do well for a club like Portsmouth who needed a right winger.
davieG Posted 22 January 2009 Posted 22 January 2009 Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll has confirmed he has been given permission to speak to Oldham striker Lee Hughes. O'Driscoll is eager to add a proven goalscorer to his Rovers ranks and has earmarked Hughes as the man to fire the club to Championship safety. Hughes' 14 goals to date have played a huge part in Oldham's bid for promotion from League One but the cash-strapped Latics have conceded the right bid for any of their players could trigger a sale. Oldham have offered Hughes, whose existing contract expires in the summer, a new deal that would make him the club's highest paid player but as yet there has been no positive response. Hughes has a release clause in his contract set at £400,000 but there have been no details as to whether that figure has been met by Doncaster's offer. "I have permission to speak to Lee from Oldham," O'Driscoll is quoted in the Daily Mail. "He's out of contract in the summer and it's ongoing."
CosbehFox Posted 22 January 2009 Posted 22 January 2009 That will be nice. With Hughes, I can see Oldham finishing 2nd...without play-offs.
Uncle Albert Posted 22 January 2009 Posted 22 January 2009 This has made me just spit out my Frosties. The management team of Liverpool hitman Dirk Kuyt have poured cold water on reports that their client is set for a big money move to Italian giants Juventus. The Dutchman has been heavily linked with the Bianconeri in recent days, with many sources claiming that he is viewed as a direct replacement for Czech Republic veteran Pavel Nedved, who is almost certain to retire in the summer. Il Corriere dello Sport this morning reported that Juventus are ready to launch a €30 million bid for the 28-year-old, and that Kuyt’s agent Robert Jansen has already spoken to the club, and is set to begin negotiations next week. £28 millions pounds for Dirk Kuyt?! Liverpool would be stupid not to accept that.

Yeah I saw that on the Sky Sports website earlier and couldn't help but laugh. £28 million for Dirk Kuyt would be incredible for Liverpool when you consider that's roughly what they paid for Torres?
Mikey Posted 22 January 2009 Posted 22 January 2009 I don't think anyone has mentioned the Nigel De Jong move to Man City from Hamburg. Good signing. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11679_4829062,00.html
Finchy Posted 22 January 2009 Posted 22 January 2009 http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/22012009/58/...enry-villa.html Man City at the moment is a bit like on Fifa when you try to buy good players on manager mode. You have all the money but they keep truning you down, because the club isn't prestigious enough or they don't see a future at the club
Joe. Posted 22 January 2009 Posted 22 January 2009 "We're not anybody's fool," City's executive chairman, Garry Cook said.
lildave3 Posted 22 January 2009 Posted 22 January 2009 What kind of idiot would pay £20+ million for Kuyt?!
Cobbo Posted 22 January 2009 Posted 22 January 2009 SSN reporting that Fulham have accepted a £5mill bid from Hull! Going up in the world there then.
Joe. Posted 22 January 2009 Posted 22 January 2009 Marlon King on the way to 'Boro with Mido heading in the opposite direction to Wigan apparently too.

davieG Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 Not exactly a surprise; <h1 class="title">Aston Villa On Verge Of Transfer Move For Former Liverpool, Leicester & England Star Heskey </h1> Submitted by Scott Harkness on Fri, 2009-01-23 01:55. Wigan Athletic, Aston Villa Premiership Transfer News window.google_render_ad(); Aston Villa are reportedly on the verge of signing Wigan Athletic and England striker Emile Heskey. The 31-year-old former Leicester City, Birmingham City and Liverpool forward is reportedly on the verge of completing a transfer move valued in excess of £3million to join his former manager at Aston Villa. Villa boss Martin O’Neill worked with Heskey as a young talent when Heskey had just come through the Leicester City academy and had just established a place in The Foxes’ first-team as O’Neill started his reign as Leicester City manager in 1996. O’Neill has a good understanding of the big front-man and may think that Heskey could be the perfect replacement for injured striker John Carew. Heskey’s contract with Wigan Athletic is due run out in the summer, and although Latics boss Steve Bruce was adamant that he is part of the club’s plans, his hand has been forced after Heskey stated that he wanted to make an immediate transfer move. Bruce is now hoping to recuperate some money rather than having a disgruntled player and has already been active in sales during the January transfer window, having already sold Wilson Palacios to Tottenham Hotspur and Kevin Kilbane to Hull City, while he is close to bringing Egyptian striker Mido in on-loan from Middlesbrough for the remainder of the 2008/09 season, someone who could fill the void left by Heskey. There had been speculation that Liverpool were interested in bringing Heskey, who spent four successful years with Liverpool, back to Anfield this January, with Heskey also keen on a move back to his former club. “It would be lovely. We’ll see how it goes,” said Heskey upon hearing the reports of the interest from Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, but an offer from the Merseyside club has failed to materialise and it seems that the move to Villa Park would appeal to all concerned, with Heskey hoping that playing with Villa could help cement a place in Fabio Capello's England squad.
JoeyB Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 11.26 Sky Sports News understands Aston Villa have agreed a £4million fee with Wigan for Emile Heskey. 12.30 Sky Sports sources understand that Hull City have completed the signing of Fulham midfielder Jimmy Bullard for a fee in the region of £5million. Too good deals, great business by Hull.
Samilktray Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 Hull just become more n more like the greatest team in the world for me.
Number 6 Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 Surely Bullard is good enough for a better team than Hull?
eye666 Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 Looks like he's off to Villa. Would be a good signing all round I think as Villa need another striker. Him and Agbonlahor would be quality, and then there's Carew to come back.
Shrenchel Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 Would be nice to see him link up with MON again but can't help thinking he probably won't make the first team once Carew is fit.
