Good luck to Leicester and Tunchev, take good care of him - he is the best, and the best about him is that he is loyal and plays not with foots but with heart! I'm not saying it because I'm fan of CSKA, Tunchev is quite calm player and never shows his emotions to the public easily, that makes him alot special. He want to win fans' hearths by playing, scoring, doing his job not by meaningless words and things that doesn't matter. Good luck!

According to Wikipedia he scored 12 goals in in 68 appearances for CSKA Sofia, which is more than most of our strikers have managed in recent seasons!

Sounds like it could be an option to throw him up front when the occasion demands it!

Has he ever had a gamble addiction? Ever gone by the name of Casino Alexi??

I'm reckoning he favours Matt Elliott's approach of turning up for games pis sed as a fart.

Sounds good, wish we'd had more of his sort in our squad last season if he's like that

Alexander Tunchev has been refused a work permit in his quest to play football in the English League One.

Leicester coach Nigel pearson had hoped to bring Tunchev, a star of Bulgaria's 2008 qualifying team, to play for his Leicester City side.

But it appears Tunchev, 26, cannot come to the UK because of a technicality of the immigration rules for footballers.

To gain a work permit, a player's national side must be in the top 70 of the Fifa rankings and Bulgaria has only been ranked 71 and 72.

Government spokesman Angel Rangelov told the Associated Press a letter has been sent to the British ambassador in Bulgaria.

"We are trying to help Tunchev with his problem," he said. "I have sent a request to the Home Office to reconsider the decision. The Bulgarian government is exerting efforts to solve the issue."

Defender Tunchev, currently plays for CSKA Sofia in the Bulgarian capital.

hi all,

I'm yet another CSKA fan to join those boards :_)

Just wanted to congratulate you on signing Tunchev. By skimming through the threads about him I see quite a few of you all have their reservations about this transfer, I understand that you've had some bad experiences which foreign 'stars' recently, but I really don't think you should worry about this one.

To be honest I'm very disappointed he left the club, but as things here are deteriorating even more in the last couple of days, I can justify this decision to some extent..

As for his motivations for this move - actually I think it's logical. I know you guys don't know much about Bulgaria, but people here know A LOT about English football and it has a really really huge reputation over here. Leicester may be down now, but the club is also relatively well-known here. So basically there isn't a player in Bulgaria that would turn down a transfer to England.

League 1 can indeed seem a bit lowly for a player of Tunchev's caliber, but i believe that he wanted to get out of CSKA as soon as possible. Some of Tunchev's teammates here, who were also among the club's best players and national team players, had quite a few problems with their transfers in the past season. There were always speculations that this and that big-name club was interested in them, but the transfer moves never happened. Finally, now that the crisis has really hit hard on our club players which are of equal caliber as Tunchev have ended up in (albeit top level) clubs in Russia and Ukraine.. So I guess Alex has decided that he doesn't want to end up somewhere in Russia too and took the risk to move here.

There's always the problem of adaptation, and I really do hope Tunch (as we lovingly call him here ;_)) manages to settle down quickly, hopefully Kishishev would help with that. But if he manages to get used to playing here quickly, your only concern about him should be if he is going to stay long enough in Leicester - mark my words :_)

He's very stable in defence, and has excellent positioning, he's though, but you won't see any reckless challenges from him either. He can also cover well for his teammates when they go attacking on the flanks (as was the norm at CSKA).

He is also indeed a very prolific goalscorer for a defender, but I'm not sure if he is going to replicate that at Leicester. 90% of his goals are from headers, and though he plays really well with his head, those were mostly down to team tactics. So if your manager doesn't allow him to go up front for those corners or free kicks, you can't expect him to start scoring :_).

And to compensate for what turned out to be too long of a post, here's a little taste of what's hopefully to be expected of him :_)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aG9oBp7RqAA - highlights from the Lux - Bul game, where he scored his first national team goal (and not a header mind you ;) )

and the three goals he scored this season for CSKA in the championship:

that's all from me :_) All the best to Leicester and Tunch this coming season!

pozdravi :_)

You're so funny :D :D :D Bulgaria is 18 in the Fifa rankings (08.07.2008) As you know, there are a lof of Bulgarians who play in Premier League-Berbatov,Petrovs,Bojinov...So,it's not a problem. In Bulgarian medias there are information that Tunchev signed with Leicester City!

Seeing as he plays in the Bulgaria national team on a regular basis does that mean we will miss him for 4/5/6 games when he is on international duty, We still play now when there are international games because were in league 1 dont we. :dunno:
