Swindon Post Match Thread

Bringing on pentney for Martin was the turning point, inspired tactical change.

Also well done to Andy King, ok he could have had a hat-rick today but the he's always in the right positions and his goal return this season has been exceptional, plenty of vital goals too.

Steve Howard was SHIT today. All he did was moan and give away stupid fouls.

Good to see Ash get on and liven things up, we need some fresh ideas for when we go down 1-0 at home, because we struggle a lot when it happens. Still, had Kings 2 efforts which hit the post have gone in, and the one (can't remember who it was) that hit the bar gone in, it would've been a different story. Swindon had done their homework and frustrated us.

Yeah, even i'll admit Howard was poor today, but Fryatt was no better.

Thought it was a decent enough performance, they came here with a game plan and stuck to it.

Steve Howard was crap, as was Fryatt, and Chambers did nothing when he came on.

Decent enough game.

Maddog will have plenty to say on the matter i'll wager.

That is the best post i have ever read

And yet last week when i said Howard played shit, which he was no one agrees.

But King Bert says it and its fine.

Lovely post Bert, he was shit today.

Hardly won any headers, why the fook was he trying to win the ball standing behind the defender at one stage, and yet again no where near it from corners which to be fair were shit.

We need a new striker or bring Dj back, and a winger with a cross, Gradel :P

He was a fooking donkey today though.

Thank fook some of you have finally noticed.

All he does is encourage shitty long ball game.

Our team is getting to be like a gentleman's club. Everyone seems to have become part of the furniture, there's no pressure on them to stir themselves and they've all got complacent.

I've tried to accept the limitations of Hobbs and Morrison but Pearson should look at the video and count how many times they won the ball and gave it straight back to the opposition.

With more teams likely to get men behind the ball and hit us on the rebound as quickly as possible to try to pinch a goal we simply cannot be so benevolent.

Pearson's a seasoned professional. He, more than anyone, should know that retaining the ball is paramount. So why does he put up with players giving it away so thoughtlessly week after week?

Partly of course because we have no alternatives. There's hardly any realistic competition for anyone's place and players who might have something to offer are simply sidelined for reasons I cannot imagine have anything to do with football.

It's no use expecting changes in central defence because we don't have a footballing centre-back in the club.

We've started getting all narrow and negative too, barely working up sweat until we went a goal down and certainly not turning out with any of the pace, energy and movement I expected after two previous dismal home performances. Our closing down was never urgent.

Mandaric makes his speeches about how marvellous Pearson has been and Pearson suggests it is not the time to change his tried and tested formula, but that will be his undoing as he moves up the managerial ladder...

He is simply too predictable and even modest opposition like Swindon have now figured out how to give themselves a chance.

We may be top of the League but we're not developing or improving as a side. Very few players could hold their head up today. Nor the manager.

Think you'll find that Bert's saying Howard was shit TODAY. Not shit full stop. Big difference.

Maddog.

He was shit today. The rest of the season he's been pretty good to be fair.

Il take it, just this once, we agree on Steve Howard,

Probably not after the Stockport match though :D

I'm worried about the two following away games. Will the players still have fresh legs now that they've given such a lame show today?

Hartlepool and especially Bristol Rovers are two tough nuts to crack.

We need Cleverley in the middle again and the striker situation sorted. What did Fryatt and Howard do all match long - chewing gum?

Yeah dont MK Dons follow BR.

Stockport at home? Thought we had 3 away games coming up?

In my opinion Howards best displays have been away from the walkers, away from morons getting on his back. Stop basing your bone idol opinions on knowing fu.ck all.

Wanted to make a couple of points today. First, it was good to see Pearson playing the kids - and I thought Pentney and Chambers played very well when they were given the chance they needed. Secondly, if we are going to rely on the Fryatt/Howard partnership up front next season we are going to struggle. I say again and still maintain that they are currently playing at their correct level. Hats off to Big Steve who is playing his heart out at the moment and won several key headers (he looks like he's lost a few pounds), but Fryatt was absent today and looks like he's lost some confidence.

MF seemed to have alot of confidence prior to signing his new contract done f--k all since then also i think you are spot on about the strikers playing at their correct level.
