maddog Posted 17 February 2009 Author Posted 17 February 2009 Worth a new thread?? Would be if people actually discussed it like discussing other things in other threads. But its my thread so its not going to happen
StanSP Posted 17 February 2009 Posted 17 February 2009 Alright mate. I'll start . It does look like complacency is slowly trickling through into our team. We have drawn three games which we would have been expected to win, but that's football. We have to bounce back from it and aim to win our next game. We still have a big lead and would still take a huge effort from other teams to dislodge us from top spot. Having said that, if we don't start winning soon, our grip at the top will start to become loose
Legend_in_blue Posted 17 February 2009 Posted 17 February 2009 I don't think it's complacency from the team. I think it's complacency from the fans. The team is clearly struggling yet we seem to be in a state of denial. We're making hard work of this now and don't have many options. This big squad idea is a load of rubbish. I'm feeling nervous.
Shrenchel Posted 17 February 2009 Posted 17 February 2009 maddog's train of thought: Can I possibly moan about Steve Howard's performance? Yes: Do that. No: Make a different pointless thread.

Pearson seems like the type of manager who wouldn't allow even a shadow of complacency to creep into the squad. We have the right man in charge to ensure that.
Father Ted Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 I agree with Maddog for once but I believe that it is certain players that are affecting the team as a whole.
tewkesbury-fox Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 I can't imagine that NP would let us become complacent,I think we are finding we are entering a new stage of the season and theres a lot to play for for other teams, play offs relegation etc..Compounded by the fact we are no1 certain bookies paying out etc.. and we are on a unbelieveable unbeaten run, teams are naturally wanting to be the 1st to end our record,Oldham Swindon and Hartlepool have played really well against us,I know we will come good but we cant expect teams to roll over because we are so far ahead (And can we have that premature aspirations for next season removed from the thread its been a f***** jink since it was posted should be banned until we have gone up)
bluebeau Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 IMO the reason that we have gone off the ball is down to 1 player....Matty Fryatt. At the moment he isn't scoring goals, his confidence is not what it was, & the penalty miss didn't help him. He should have taken the penalty agains Hartlepool, I'm sure he would have scored & it would have helped him no-end. He will start finding the net again soon. We are going thru a low patch just now, but we are still not losing ngames. Relax guys we will finish top.

Raj Posted 19 February 2009 Posted 19 February 2009 Is back. Its not complacency. Its nerves. Its the time for us to splutter and have a mini crisis. The home support should not let the players know we are as nervous as them!!!! Think about the positives. We will still be Okay come May. FCUK EM!!!
Rocky Dennis Posted 19 February 2009 Posted 19 February 2009 If Hartlepool hadnt scored a decent goal with 2 seconds left on the clock, I suspect all talk of 'complacency' wouldnt exist? We very nearly had a great away win but thats football innit, surely some credit for the team might be in order?

The fans the players are all worried. All it takes is 3 or 4 loses on the trot and 3rd place will be within reach. And the way we are playing at the minute, we could lose the next 2 games. But hopefully we will win them both and thunder like lightning over the promotion line. Id love us to have sealed top spot with a few games to go, so players like Chambers, Porter, Adams and other reserves can get a game unless NP wants to go for 100 points+
maddog Posted 6 April 2009 Author Posted 6 April 2009 Complacency has now been around for 2 months or more.
Corky Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 Maybe if you hadn't been banging on about how the title was wrapped up then it wouldn't feel so bad?
maddog Posted 6 April 2009 Author Posted 6 April 2009 Maybe if you hadn't been banging on about how the title was wrapped up then it wouldn't feel so bad? maybe. 16/1 on us ending up in playoffs, worth a quid

That sort of thing is always a risk if you try to play out time instead of maintaining fast and early pressure on the opposition and trying to score another goal. We did it for 15 minutes at Millwall and got away with it but mostly I believe that if you get ahead the opportunities for fast counter-attacking increase rather than decrease and you should have the bottle to try to take them.

This is true. The best form of defence is attack. Keep them on the back foot.
Katy Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 The chant 'One nil down who gives a fook' etc etc should be burned at the stake! <_<

Ultra Posted 7 April 2009 Posted 7 April 2009 I said some weeks ago that the team lacked leadership, particularly in home games. That remains the case now. The senior players have to start earning their salaries, and carry the team through the next three-and-a-half weeks.

You didn't say you were sorry though did you some one week ago.........naughty, naughty Ultra!!!
Ultra Posted 7 April 2009 Posted 7 April 2009 What use would an apology be, from someone who is apparently considered worth less than a dung beetle?
