Jimmy Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 OS Injury UpdatePosted on: Fri 20 Feb 2009 Leicester City assistant manager Craig Shakespeare says Dave Martin will not be rushed back from injury. The on-loan goalkeeper was forced from the field of play during City's 1-1 draw with Swindon Town with a rib/back problem. And Shakespeare says that Martin will be given all the time he needs to make a full recovery. He said: "We are assessing Dave on a daily basis, but I think we are looking at him being out of action for at least 14 days. We want to give him enough time to get himself right." The club moved swifty to bring in cover on Monday, with Mark Bunn joining for a month from Blackburn Rovers in time to take on Hartlepool United at Victoria Park on Tuesday evening. Shakespeare added: "We are very grateful to Blackburn for allowing us to take Mark for a month. I thought that he put in a very competent performance on Tuesday night. He looked very assured." Meanwhile, Shakespeare gave an update on the fitness of Patrick kisnorbo, who has missed most of the season with a knee injury. "Patrick is back in training, which is good for him and good for the club, but he is a long way off being fully match fit."
Joe. Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 Sounds like we have a good enough replacement in Bunn anyway.
Guest Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 Pity Paddy's not back sooner, I'd heard he was only a couple of weeks off being fit but nevermind. Think it would've been beneficial to have another experienced defender in contention as we get towards the end of the season.
MC Prussian Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 I don't want Martin back Not even as a backup? Strange.
Legend_in_blue Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 Shame about Kisnorbo. Perhaps we can give him a run out in the last few games once we've sewn up the championship.
Bert Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 We'll play Bunn until his loan expires, then Martin will be back in between the sticks.
StanSP Posted 21 February 2009 Posted 21 February 2009 Sh1t! Kisnorbo's due back . Why is that bad?? And anyway, he's a long way back from being fully match fit so you don't have to be scared for now.
Hitesh Posted 21 February 2009 Posted 21 February 2009 I think its a good thing that Kisnorbo won't be back for a while. He could do with a proper pre-season to get back to match fitness or as mentioned earlier, come back for the last few games if and when we are promoted. I think there would be too much pressure on him to perform if he was rushed back.
Jimmy Posted 21 February 2009 Author Posted 21 February 2009 he won't be having a pre-season here as it stands though
Father Ted Posted 21 February 2009 Posted 21 February 2009 They give us updates on that turd when he's injured But anyone else we're not told.
DB11 Posted 21 February 2009 Posted 21 February 2009 Not even as a backup? Strange. Pentney seemed good enough for back up
Jimmy Posted 21 February 2009 Author Posted 21 February 2009 Clemence? Is he finished? according to some of bert's comments that could well be true
Cobbo Posted 21 February 2009 Posted 21 February 2009 Any news on Oakley? Matt Oakley was forced from the field midway through the first half, and Pearson concluded the post-match press conference by giving an update on the player. "Matt has got a bit of a groin strain. I don't know how serious that is at the moment, but hopefully it is not too bad. We shall take another look at it on Monday." From Nige
