Stuliasz Posted 3 March 2009 Posted 3 March 2009 Howard is starting to look a bit jaded. No doubt he has had a really good run of late but he has very little in the way of able backup to give him a rest. I'm stunned that Gradel didn't get a look in at all tonight. It was the ideal game for someone like him to try and get some crosses in and test the keeper. Even Gilbert's crossing was causing problems to him early on.
Milky Posted 3 March 2009 Posted 3 March 2009 Soaked through watching that awful performance in an empty stadium. What a horrible night.
Sods Posted 3 March 2009 Posted 3 March 2009 Gradel looked up for it during the warm up, firing them in. Bet he was itching to get on.
maddog Posted 3 March 2009 Posted 3 March 2009 That must have been lowest home league attendence of the season It was another home performance, that made me think Stockport fans are right "Top of the league, we are having a laugh" Elvis Hammond first goal Saturday Please god lets not lose to the Leicester rejects
AjcW Posted 3 March 2009 Posted 3 March 2009 Shower if shit(in more ways than one) Thought after the first 5 minutes that we were in for a cracker of a game but then for some bemusing reason stockport passed it around in their penalty area for five minutes(unchallenged!!!) and completely took all spark out of the game The whole team looked dead on their feet, berner looked delighted when he got taken off as he was out of breath after the first ten minutes. King was awful along with fryatt and as usual dyer, and pearsons substitutions or lack of still remain my only criticism of him, he seems to have all the credentials of a great manager if only he understood substitutions. Poor gradel sat there looking like a pissing drowned rat while dyer flopped around doing sweet fa on the pitch
Munzie Posted 3 March 2009 Posted 3 March 2009 As i'm sure has already been mentioned, why on earth did Gradel not get a run. He's bound to be as confident as he's ever been here and he doesn't even get on while we're drawing and could do with a goal. Doesn't even get on when clearly we could do with a bit of quality.I'd be a little pissed off if I was Max right now. Totally agree. Even through the warm up he looked really fired up and brimming with confidence. We are chucking out the same starting 11 every week who are starting to look jaded and lacking spark. Whilst I appreciate teams will come here looking for a point, we have faced enough of them to understand and create methods of play to break them down. Recently, we've not even looked like attempting shots on goal. I also pray that we sign someone on loan who can take corners as Oakley has somehow forgotten and no-one is looking to step up to the plate.
leftsideoverhere Posted 3 March 2009 Posted 3 March 2009 Conditions were pretty awful, so I don't think we should be over-critical of the lack of skill on display. That said, I expected the wind to mean less hoofball and head tennis than the past couple of games, but it seemed as prevalent as ever. One of the plus points for me of having Stockdale between the sticks was that he was keen to move the ball forward through the midfield and not just hoof it every time, although it was obvious the guys in front of him weren't used to having a keeper try to do that! In short bursts we hustled Stockport quite well, but then we'd sit off them for ten minutes until NP gave it some from the touchline. Given they clearly weren't doing what he wanted I hoped he might make tactical changes but he seems really very reluctant to ever do so. Why we didn't close them down more when they obviously wanted to play the entire game passing along their back line I just cannot understand. I know they broke quite effectively when our attacking runs petered out, but when you're top of the league you can't be frightened of the counter-attack. You've got to be quick enough to defend it, is all. All those corners and free kicks came to very little. I remember Leicester under MON being famous for dead-ball goals, and we need to recapture some of that. Against Swindon I reached the point of dreading our corners, because they always just hit the first man and triggered a break to our penalty box. Tonight the quality was a little better, but corners and crosses which sail over the heads of everyone are almost as bad. On the positive side, Stockdale looks the part, and Gilbert had a good game. Dyer was better than at the Swindon or Oldham games, and did at least get past a couple of defenders, so maybe he is heading in the right direction at last. Another point gained, another half step towards promotion. It would be lovely to roar back to the Championship on a blaze of 5-0 wins, but come August we won't care *how* we got there, as long as we're there. On the negative side, this has to have been the quietest game of football I've ever been to. WTF? Did someone die, and we were having ninety minutes' silence or something? I could even hear the Stockport fans from the back of SK2, and there were only twelve of them. The only time the crowd made any fooking noise at all, it was dancing to bastard Chelsea Dagger. Kill me, kill me now.
JoeyB Posted 3 March 2009 Posted 3 March 2009 Its not just our O.S. who ****s things up. Chris O'Grady scored with his "tight" tonight!!!!! Mullins crossed from the right to Chris O'Grady who flicked the ball up with his right foot and turned and volleyed the ball past David Stockdale with his tight. Link

HAHAHA...oh thats cheered me right up after that piss poor performance......anyone else feeling guilty for thinking shes going to survive after getting all that money(too soon???)

Ultra Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 HAHAHA...oh thats cheered me right up after that piss poor performance......anyone else feeling guilty for thinking shes going to survive after getting all that money(too soon???) She won't see the month out - certainly not long enough to see us promoted. The next few weeks could be very uncomfortable for us. The lead could easily disappear altogether. The manager looked like a rabbit stuck in headlights. I can't see him lasting too long in the Championship.. Last night was as dispiriting as any witnessed under Levein, Kelly or Holloway.
jayyd08 Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 dyer needs to be droped for max. i no were still not losing but .. they should wear there hearts on their sleaves...
5waller5 Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 With all this moaning I'm glad i gave my tickets away and went to the killers instead .... if it's any consolation they were brill!!! I had to check the league table when i came back and despite all the negativity it does seem we are still top, and unbeaten in 22 games - i don't have to cast my mind back too far to much worse times - and yet the same boring panic exists. We're already up - statistically we'd need the worst run of form since levein's era coupled with two teams going on a similarly remarkable run.... panic not... enjoy our promotion run in... We could moan about the killers not playing glamorous indie rock and roll instead?
knowitall Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 GRADEL For all those asking why Gradel did not start or at least come off the bench. Gradel has been told "your too good for this league and we are saving you for next season" This was said by someone in real power. I kid you not and I find it silly and sad. Max was only brought on against MK Dons to stop Max moaning about not getting anytime on the pitch. Then Max went and did that!!! Will he be forced to play Max?

BoneDog Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 I'm new on FT so I need to know. Is Knowitall as people say? A real Knowitall?
MC Prussian Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 I'm new on FT so I need to know. Is Knowitall as people say? A real Knowitall? In 99.999 percent of all cases, yes. Max-Alain Gradel "too good for this league"? What an idiotic statement - that is NO reason not to play the lad. Makes no sense whatsoever. This decision baffles me and leaves me wondering. Hard. What did he do to "deserve" such special treatment?
