Guest Bilo Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Their fans are equally deluded.... http://www.theposhforum.co.uk/forum/viewto...1a275eac5b1b3ee At least one of them has the right idea. While I admire his passion, the man is an idiot. Leicester are far and away the best team in this league and are 9 points clear of us with a game in hand.Does he really think we can do that? I know Nipper will believe but concentrating on our remaining games is key. What anyone else does is irrelevant.
leftsideoverhere Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 At least one of them has the right idea. Yeah but then all the others lined up to call *him* an idiot - and worse - for being nasty to their chairman! Sad, very sad.
dandannieldanok Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 I guess he wasn't in attendance at the Walkers when Peterborough were in town.
Hitesh Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Not sure what's worse, him thinking he can catch us up or them finishing in the top 10 of the Championship!?!?!
BlabyFox Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 I'm not sure what it is they planned for, being 9 points behind having played a game more MacAnthony Still Believes Posh Can Catch Leicester Posted on: Wed 11 Mar 2009 Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has not ruled out catching Leicester City at the top of Coca-Cola League One after witnessing a 2-1 victory over S****horpe United at London Road on Tuesday evening. The win, the third in a row, extended the advantage over Milton Keynes Dons to five points and MacAnthony still believes that runaway leaders Leicester can be caught as the season enters the final stretch. 'I still believe we are in with a great chance of winning this league. The plan is coming together, we planned for this and it is testament to the management and the players that we have put ourselves in with a chance. You have to have bottle at this stage of the season and I believe Peterborough United are showing plenty of bottle. 'The nerves are a bit frayed after watching the win over S****horpe. I was here for the Carlisle game so I have now seen two good home victories. It has been very frustrating for me to not see as many games as I would have liked. When I retire, I will make sure I am at every game! 'We are looking forward to the big games coming up. Trust me, we are a difficult side to live with, whether it be Leicester City or Milton Keynes Dons, no team will be looking forward to playing Peterborough United at the minute. I believe this team would give a number of sides in the Championship a run for their money,' MacAnthony told the Posh World. When asked where he believes Posh can finish in the Championship, MacAnthony replied: 'Realistically, in our first season at that level, I would expect us to finish in the top 10 without a doubt.' I wouldn't mind another 4-0 victory tbh
foxaholic Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 I wouldn't mind another 4-0 victory tbh If Posh are playing that well why are their gates so low . Do not tell me they have a poor catchment ares as years ago before they got in the league they got more than twic they get now
Jonezy Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 He probably just jinxed their automatic promotion hopes.... Love how 2nd place is a battle now, surely the tension and added pressure will see some dropped points here and there for the teams involved.
Legend_in_blue Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 I'll feel more confident about this once we've got the win tonight. Yes it would take a monumental cockup to screw this up now but this is us, Leicester City, don't rule out anything just yet. A good win tonight and we've broken 80 points. Psychologically the rest will be beaten, as is the case now with MK, having only drawn to us.

Ha what an idiot. 4 v 0 & still clueless
Daggers Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 We won't romp them at their place if they keep their current self-belief going.
Father Ted Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Let's give them a stuffing at their place and job done.

Do not tell me they have a poor catchment ares as years ago before they got in the league they got more than twic they get now I know a Peterbuggerer fan and he says he will not go to a game until Barry Fry buggers off.
Raj Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Well Done for their Chairman to be Bullish. Dont know if he was on drugs when he said he thinks they'll be in the top 10 in the CChip next year though....thats abit too bullish!!!

He could be right after tonight.
Legend_in_blue Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 He could be right after tonight. He'll be even happier after Saturday if it goes all pear-shaped at Milwall too.

To be fair, Di Matteo still believes we can do it and so do some of the fans, it is highly unlikely of course but you never know how the season goes. Almost the same as playing to the Whistle in a match you can only do what you can do

Part Of The Crowd Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Although i will admit that Darragh Mcanthony did this last year saying they were going to win the league after drawing at our place. He heaps unneccesary pressure on the team and due to the youth they can't cope with it and after a while collapse

Corky Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Of course it's still plausible they'll win the league, but they still have to win three more matches than we do.
maddog Posted 12 March 2009 Posted 12 March 2009 If we lose to Mill, and lose to them and they win their games in between the gap will only be 3. I still think we are going up, but the loss last night shows its not over yet. Bit of a wake up call, hopefully rile the players up for a decent run to seal promotion
siparker06 Posted 13 March 2009 Posted 13 March 2009 Well Done for their Chairman to be Bullish.Dont know if he was on drugs when he said he thinks they'll be in the top 10 in the CChip next year though....thats abit too bullish!!! When Darragh MacAnthony came to the club he said Premiership football in 7-10 years. Has bought young, hungry players how are getting better and better by the week, and looking at the differences between our team now, and last season the only signings have been Zakuani from fullham, Martin from Wycombe and Coutts from non-league football in Scotland who get in our first team. So for a team that finished 2nd in league 2 last season to even be challenging for promotion in league 1 is an achievement in its self, but if we add to our squad in the summer, and get promoted - next season everyone will be a season older, stronger and cleverer. I ask the question what is going to happen to your squad next season? Once all your loan players go back to their parent clubs? MacAnthony hasn't made his money at such a young age by setting targets that are easily achieved, if we make it into the champioship via the play-offs this season and finish 18th next season I'd guess he would be content, but its not the way that he likes to do things.
CosbehFox Posted 13 March 2009 Posted 13 March 2009 I ask the question what is going to happen to your squad next season? Once all your loan players go back to their parent clubs? Buy and rebuild. A couple of loan lads will probably be here next season. Don't try make MacAnthony out to be some business genius, he found a business at the right time and without much nous, it's relatively easy to make a buck in that industry. Disguise as much as you like but P'boro are moneybags and other clubs can not compete with them when it comes to picking young lads up. And haven't you got a couple of Man United lads on loan playing for you?

And haven't you got a couple of Man United lads on loan playing for you? No Man United players on loan at the moment, we did have James Chester (defender) on loan for a month to cover for Craig Morgan, but he wasn't really that good. Darron Gibson was due to sign but wanted too much money - The one thing that MacAnthony won't do is be taken for as a mug, there have been a few players who haven't signed because they have tried to be too greedy with contract negotiations. There is a strict wage structure at the club, and as far as we are awear it won't be broken to try and bring in other players.
