Thracian Posted 13 March 2009 Posted 13 March 2009 I've mentioned before that there's many a slip twixt hand and mouth and if we lose against Millwall the pressure really will start to grow on us. We have some toughish fixtures right through our finale and have only realy had a well oiled squad of about 14. We've lost a key player since the first half of the season in Tunchev and another in Davies. Our replacements for those two have been nothing like the same standard, despite Cleverley's undoubted promise. Equally disruptive is the fact that our keeper is changes like the traffic lights. The consequences to me are obvious. We look far more vulnerable in defence and a lot bit less dangerous in attack. It also seems clear that Fryatt won't be as deadly a marksman was he was in the first half of the season and it is hard to imagine King will be either. Letting DJ move out was ridiculous and with Dyer losing some sparkle it is clear the team needs improving but that it is hard to see how we're going to do it. Dickov, Hayles, Porter, Chambers and even Pentney should all have been involved from the bench and reasonably sharp by now but there's no sign that they will be which means we are far more vulnerable than at any stage of the season previously. The only comfort to me is our goal difference. We might need it.
StanSP Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 Seems like it wasn't all bullshit! They haven't caught us up yet!
davieG Posted 31 March 2009 Author Posted 31 March 2009 They haven't caught us up yet! Hence my saying 'wasn't all'
Alexikokopops Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 Haha, this thread is brilliant. We all look a bunch of tits.
Munzie Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 It's amazing how fast optimism can fade. We are still four points clear (seven points from 3rd place if Millwall win tonight) with only six games to go. Nobody at the start of the season would have predicted that. I remember the countless posts of "we don't have a given right to bounce back", "this league is tough to get out of".... The statements are very ture but look at our position now. C'mon people, let's think positive.
Kilworthfox Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 Haha, this thread is brilliant. We all look a bunch of tits. I want your breasts

Munzie Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 Do you want me to sourch a ticket for you for the last home game mate???? Source, search, torch? In Little Britain styley...do it again?
Dr The Singh Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 Source, search, torch? In Little Britain styley...do it again? Scorch, as in, a ticket for some S&M!!! I'm getting some probably next week sometime, and I should be able to get you one!!!
Munzie Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 Scorch, as in, a ticket for some S&M!!! I'm getting some probably next week sometime, and I should be able to get you one!!! That's a hole new world. I've yet to explore! Can you get me a whip'er ticket rathet than a whip'ee.
Dr The Singh Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 That's a hole new world. I've yet to explore! Can you get me a whip'er ticket rathet than a whip'ee. We'll both be in the same boat, so I wouldn't worry, whiplashes and all!!!!
maddog Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 Haha, this thread is brilliant. We all look a bunch of tits. Not me though No way. I think MK Dons are more capable of mounting a 'serious' challenge to us. With their games in hand they are likely to rise against Posh, so Darragh's claims could be naive and he could come back to regret them once he loses the playoffs! I've just been onto the Posh's website and read an interview with the chairman... http://www.theposh.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,...1586385,00.htmlThe mans an idiot.... Not only have we already battered them at home by a marginal 4 goals to their nil but we have conceded all season what they have in just their away games... He goes on to state that no team would like to play them but I'm certainly looking forward to the clash at the end of the month. He also says if his current team was in the championship then he would realistically be targeting a top 10 postition... Sorry mate but be realistic!!! Sorry but reading this stupid derranged chairman interview just pissed me off. jog on. If we lose to Mill, and lose to them and they win their games in between the gap will only be 3.I still think we are going up, but the loss last night shows its not over yet. Bit of a wake up call, hopefully rile the players up for a decent run to seal promotion
Finnegan Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 I'll keep tempting fate. I don't think they'll catch us, especially if we beat Carlisle.
Thracian Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 That 9-2 bet on Posh looks a lot more attractive than whatever you'd get for us winning the title. It would also soften the blow if it happened!.

It would also soften the blow if it happened!. Fez got 10-1 on us not finishing top a month or so ago. The blow's gonna be well and truly softened for him if we don't!
leftsideoverhere Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 Seems like it wasn't all bullshit! Yeah, if only Milan had come out with some equally inspiring statement about our desire to get promoted. Oh, hang on...
BoneDog Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 We will end there chance of top spot How wrong I was!
Legend_in_blue Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 If we were here reading this with 10 games to go and not 6, you may as well add Milwall to the title of the thread as well. I think only the number of games left will save us from finishing 3rd.
Thracian Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 Fez got 10-1 on us not finishing top a month or so ago. The blow's gonna be well and truly softened for him if we don't! Bright lad, Fez.
Daggers Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 We won't romp them at their place if they keep their current self-belief going. It gives me no pleasure to be proved right.
FilboFox Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 We will win the league! Eternal belief is the way forward.
Milky Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 It gives me no pleasure to be proved right. wow, what a bold prediction!
Raj Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 Fez got 10-1 on us not finishing top a month or so ago. The blow's gonna be well and truly softened for him if we don't! Bastard Fez!!! Could be the 2nd year running he wins on Leicesters failings!!! Bastard!!!
lefox Posted 1 April 2009 Posted 1 April 2009 Bastard Fez!!!Could be the 2nd year running he wins on Leicesters failings!!! Bastard!!! And potentially my second year too.. I got 8 - 1 for Peterborough to nobble us just before last weeks match. I also got 6 - 4 on forest going down at the same time!! hehe, why don't they just give money away!!
