C-man Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 Everything seemed to go against us yesterday. Yes, we didn't play well and our system was fragmented at times, but in the first half, for the first 40 minutes we were the better side. I've read reports (Observer in particular) that stated 'Peterborough's dominance'. Well, I don't know where that came from. Probably the same place where the reporter observed that neither team looked good enough for the Championship. The weather was unbelievable. Howling wind against us in the first, subdued completely in the second. I'd like to know who won the toss, because if I had won it, I would have taken the wind advantage in the first half. I was always told as a captain to play with the conditions in the first half because they could always change. The referee was alright and didn't really help either team, but the linesman was absolutely woeful. Make a decision for yourself once in a while, you tool. Some of the timewasting going on in the game was embarrasing to say the least, and why there were only 5 minutes of stoppage time I have no idea. Peterborough were not great either, and definitely not the best team I've seen in this league. That would be us, followed by a less-demoralised Oldham. They had two good pieces of play, and scored from both. Very good goals. They hardly carved us open, but were decent from set pieces. We really, really need to work on ours at both ends if we are going to survive in the Championship next season. I still think we'll get promoted and I still think we'll win the league. 6 games with Steve at the end of the season will pull us through. At times, this board can depress the fuck out of me. And it almost has done this morning with talk of surrendering the title to Peterborough, and holding off Millwall. Fuck that, we're still in charge of this, and we're going to win it.

We are still in charge of the division, Millwall and Peterborough have still to play each other and our run-in is very do-able in my opinion. We'd have to fook up royally to finish second, let alone miss out on promotion.

And it almost has done this morning with talk of surrendering the title to Peterborough, and holding off Millwall. Fuck that, we're still in charge of this, and we're going to win it. Yes. We also didn't seem to get any breaks at all, i thought the ref was completely wrong sided in favour of P'Boro. Even the weather went against us, they played down that wind 1st half, and i rekon if we had got to 0-0 at half time we would have got at least a draw playing down wind 2nd half. But for a good part of the second half the wind seemed to stop leaving us no advantage. We never got any luck with the loose balls, everything seemed to go to them, and 30 seconds before their second goal Hayles did a magnificent dummy which looked to leave Dickov through with a fantastic chance to equalise, only for their defender who knew nothing about it, get lucky and hit his foot and deflect away. It clearly wasn't our day, had that ball got through to Dickov it may have been 1-1, but it didn't and we were 2-0 down seconds later, due to an excellently taken goal. Its a cliche but it was 'one of those days' and reminded me of last season, we haven't had many of those days this season, and that was the first time i have walked away for a match after we have lost, due to missing the Millwall game and not going to the away defeats. Hopefully that will be the one loss i do see and we will finish the season unbeaten. The problem all season has been the strikers, Fryatt was playing well when he was scoring, but hardly world class, now he has got 5 in 19 games since his new contract, and with Dickov and Hayles poor, and Howard who is a good target man but not a goalscorer, we are fooking struggling. God help us if King and one of our wingers gets injured, we won't even be able to create a half chance then.
JakeShingler Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 Shingler, i've just got in, and i'm still able to speak English, yet, you wasn't able to get in the Key at 5pm and seem to have trouble spelling your own name.Park bench > Cider I'm sorry, what?

carterfox90 Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 next weeks game is a must win game if we keep struggling like we are the leeds game i was looking forward to could turn out to be a really bad day as they have hit top form at the right time the thought of those t@ssers going up fills me with dread!!!!1
JakeShingler Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 Didn't think you would. Neither are you by the looks of it.
Nath Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 It's ok. Ferguson will get manager of the month and Peterborough wont win a game after that. Easy.
Guest Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 It's patently obvious how teams can stop us from playing. We lacked any clue or idea yesterday, and not for the first time this season. I did like the look on Wee Dave's dad's face when I turned round to ask Carl when the play-offs are. It may not be your cup of tea but I bloody loved it - just because the facilities were rooted in the 70's doesn't mean safe standing in the 10's would be the same. 70's? There facilities were not that modern!! 2 ladies loos for an enclosure that holds over 3,000 is shocking. Has nobody told them that women go to football matches these days? As for the steward who hauled me from out the gents, it was empty, and I have resorted to this action in much bigger arenas before now. I don't care if you sympathise because you clearly don't. "How would you like it if a bloke used the ladies?" "Mate, it's not going to happen; they can't be bothered to queue up for the gents. If you look behind you, you will see that". Tossers.

Can't argue with any of this. The (gents) bogs in the LRE are also shocking in both condition and quantity. I've never had a problem with our stewards but I've never needed them for any of them. Majority are jobsworths but that goes for most stewards around the country.

I couldn't be arsed to queue so thought the turnstiles were the next best option Many just pissed up the walls.

Shrenchel Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 There's always stalls tryna shift them at Glastonbury and Global etc. Looks pretty revolutionary.
Koke Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 Well, I haven't read the thread but I'm sure Daggers have said what I wanted to say somewhere along the line.
Koke Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 Just been reading the national newspapers reports on yesterdays game and if you didn't go, you would have thought we got battered completely off the field. Talk about being biased and having a wank fest for Fergsuon Jr.

Fosse Boy Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 What was the deal with the Peterborough fans in the stand to our left (near their end) who waved flags at half time but then sat down for the ninety minutes? Surely their flags would have been better off on their terrace?
