Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 Velez won 4-2 against Santa Fe on Sunday, after being 2-0 down. Managing to continually grind out results, but Lanus are still only one point behind them. Corinthians beat Santos 3-1. The Phenomenom scored twice. So all is still going well South America wise.

Alexikokopops Posted 28 August 2009 Posted 28 August 2009 From this week's When Saturday Comes Weekly Howl: There's no better way to follow the Copa Libertadores than through Conmebol magazine, the official publication of the South American confederation. As we have mentioned previously, the appeal lies in the entirely literal English translation that runs alongside the Spanish text. Here's how they saw Estudiantes' 2-1 victory at Cruzeiro in the second leg of the 2009 Libertadores final: The two finals were highly emotional. We cannot speak of football beauty because there was none... Estudiantes were sure and self-trusting, and they started to exert pressure on Cruzeiro, blocking the side and having the ball possession, with Veron always as their banner. Thus, Cruzeiro began to worry... In the second half [Cruzeiro] had the upper hand. A shot from outside seemed as if had no consequences for the goalkeeper, but it was deflected towards a defender and went to a post. The stadium became a boiler thanks to the cheering and shouting of Cruzeiro's fans... Estudiantes did not fret, they continued with their plan and 15 minutes later they equalled their rivals. The tie shattered Cruzeiro and empowered Estudiantes, who 15 minutes later scored the 2-1... Before the last whistle, there was time for the union of post and crossbar to return Thiago Ribeiro's powerful shot. It's just like being there. And you don't even need the magazine to enjoy the full glory of Conmebol's reporting – their whole website now has a parallel English version.
Darkzzz_ Posted 28 August 2009 Author Posted 28 August 2009 Watched River beat Blooming, decent game. Enjoyed it.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 28 August 2009 Posted 28 August 2009 Did Buonanotte play? Love the man.
Darkzzz_ Posted 28 August 2009 Author Posted 28 August 2009 Did Buonanotte play? Love the man. He didn't feature, not sure if he is injured, I think I read somewhere that he was.

StanSP Posted 5 September 2009 Posted 5 September 2009 That is the European games over with. Now onto the South American marathon. Anyone watching? What time is Argies vs Brazil?
Darkzzz_ Posted 5 September 2009 Author Posted 5 September 2009 What time is Argies vs Brazil? About 1:30 I think. I am watching them all. Colombia look decent at the moment.
StanSP Posted 5 September 2009 Posted 5 September 2009 About 1:30 I think. I am watching them all.Colombia look decent at the moment. I genuinely feel like staying up for that. Just hope I'm not disappointed. What are the consequences of each team winning? Sorry, haven't really followed S. American qualifiers that much. Only thing I do know is that Argentina haven't performed that well!
Daggers Posted 5 September 2009 Posted 5 September 2009 About 1:30 I think. I am watching them all.Colombia look decent at the moment. They got turned over by Ven. No one gets turned over by Ven. Locombia have been a bit of a spent force for too long now - they need a top down, roots up overhaul.
Bert Posted 5 September 2009 Posted 5 September 2009 Shame it's on at 1.30. Would love to watch Brazil Argie.
Daggers Posted 5 September 2009 Posted 5 September 2009 Shame it's on at 1.30. Would love to watch Brazil Argie. Seeing as it's on Sky, I'm surprised it wasn't moved to half seven Monday evening.
Bert Posted 5 September 2009 Posted 5 September 2009 Seeing as it's on Sky, I'm surprised it wasn't moved to half seven Monday evening. Bastards.

Fox You Forest Posted 6 September 2009 Posted 6 September 2009 They need to sort themselves out at the back.
lildave3 Posted 6 September 2009 Posted 6 September 2009 This is brilliant if we're honest. Only disappointment so far is that Robinho and Andre Santos haven't seen much of the ball. Hopefully that will change.
