Stockdale 7 (One excellent save and no nervous looking moments. Glad to see him back)

Morrison 6.5 (Coped well enough in unfamiliar territory at right back.)

Hobbs 7 (Steady enough and never in trouble aerially).

Brown 7 (The nearest we've got to a creative centre-back it was his best performance to date but whenever he tries to play the ball longer than he needs too he invariably disappoints.)

Mattock 5 (Better in the second half but he cock up for the penalty exposed him as a player and as a decision maker. Would be under serious pressure for his place if we had an alternative but he did pick himself up, he did support our attacks without ever looking dangerous.)

Oakley 7 (Not prominent but deserved an extra point for an inch-perfect free-kick which allowed us to go in level at half-time and did so much to take the anxiety away from us.)

King 7.5 (Pivotal, particularly in the second half. Threaded a clever pass through for Fryatt to score a goal that was disallowed for offside and was very positive in winning what seemed a clear cut penalty. To be booked for diving instead was insulting. He didn't dive and I've never seen him dive in his entire career at Leicester. Passed the ball quickly, sensibly and simply in typical style while doing his fair share of donkey work.)

Berner 5.5 (Can't say I noticed him much which is so often the case.)

Dyer 8 (MoM with his goal, a well-saved first half shot and a few other contributions which spelt danger to Hereford. Seems to have got his confidence and enthuisasm back).

Howard 7 (Another goal, albeit a simple one and won just about everything in the air without ever being able to rip their defence to shreds with the results. Looked absolutely knackered at the end and you do wonder how another game as early as Monday will go down with him).

Fryatt 6.75 (Industrious. Won the free-kick which led to Oakley's equaliser. Worked hard to make himself available, held the ball up quite well and was doubtless disappointed to have a goal disallowed for offside after Kingy's pass.)

Subs:

Gradel 7.75 (At last becoming a confident looking asset to the side. Conjured up a magical moment of brilliance to leave his marker for dead before pulling the ball back for Howard to tap in. But all the rest of his game was bubbly too. Good job for Hereford that he wasn't on too long cos you got the feeling he might have created havoc).

Stockdale 7 - No chance with the penalty, always looked confident, made a good save at the end and was very efficient in his distribution, much prefer him to Warner.

Morrison 7 - Looked very composed at right back, solid performance.

Mattock 5 - Poor, gave away the penalty and although he supported the attack well, didn't really do much.

Brown 8 - Fantastic. Solid as rock and took no prisoners, looked to pass it out when he could, hit a few aimless long balls, but who doesn't? Coached Joe through the game too.

Hobbs 7 - Standard solid performance from Hobbs, made some crucial interventions.

Oakley 7 - What a fantastic goal, stepped up after a poor first half and with King, seemed to make us flow.

King 7 - Never a booking! Why would he go down when he could've easily shot? Still, maintained his good season with a solid display.

Berner 6 - Solid, but did little to impress.

Dyer 8 - The Dyer of 2008 today, looked very dangerous and got a well deserved goal.

Fryatt 6 - Worked hard, won us the free-kick that got us back into the game, only negative was holding onto the ball too long again.

Howard 7 - Won everything, put in a solid shift to earn himself a goal.

Gradel 7 - Nothing but positive when he came on, mouthwatering play for Howard's goal. Took Taylor's pants home as a momento.

Officials -10 - Shockingly poor again.

Stockdale - 7 (did what he had to do with minimal fuss. Very assured)

Morrison - 7 (suprisingly good at rb, didn't look uncomfortable or out of place. Took a few touches instead of first-time hoofs!!)

Brown - 8 (I've slaughtered him before the game, but he was immense today. Strong in the air, solid on the ground and one tackle in particular at 2-1 was real quality. Tooo many hoofs, though :P )

Hobbs - 7 (reliable, rarely troubled, strong in the air. Needs to keep his arms down)

Mattock - Go away.

Oakley - 7 (scored the crucial equaliser to get us back into it before half-time when we didn't look like producing. Finally seen him play half decent!)

King - 7 (good performance, picked his passes well and always looked to be involved. Unfortunate to be booked, think he could have shot and probably scored so will be interested to see the replay)

Berner - 6 (not a central midfielder, but did enough I'd say)

Lloyd - 7 (scored a goal, got at the defender and looked a million times better than I've seen him in recent weeks. Hopefully back full of confidence)

Howard - 8 (quality performance. Dominated aerially, held the ball up brilliantly, got the goal he deserved and attempted an orgasmic chip. Delighted with him again)

Fryatt - 7 (terrific work-rate today, could perhaps have been more effective in and around the area though didn't offload quick enough and cost us some good opportunities because of it)

Subs:

Gradel - 8 (breathed life and enthusiasm into the game when he came on. Inspirational bit of skill to set up Steve. Always looked willing and hungry, wanted to make things happen. The key is producing that kind of performance for a longer period of time and with greater consistency)

I just bashed some random things in so its probably slightly different, but essentially this.

Stockdale - 7 - collected everything well, and generally looked dependable.

Morrison - 6 - not a fullback, but put in a good effort.

Hobbs- 7 - solid.

Brown - 8 - can't pass. can butcher league one. Steadied things well, too.

Mattock - 5 - not just a moment of madness, unfortunately.

Oakley - 7 - decent. Didn't make a massive impact other than the equaliser though.

King - 7 - quite good.

Berner - 6 - quite passive. Nothing majorly wrong, but nothing major at all really. Expected a bit more control over things in the first half.

Dyer - 8/9 - ok, ok, a 9 is ott, but when we were having our dreadful spell, he was the one player still making himself available, which was vital. Got really involved and put them under pressure, good movement, decent deliveries.

Howard - 7/8. Off the pace in the first half, but really got stuck in after that. Great hold-up play.

Fryatt - 6/7. Made himself useful, chased things down, but pissed away posession a little too often.

Subs:

Gradel - 8. The odd cross might have gone astray, but a massive impact. Tore the fullback to shreds for that goal, really put them under so much pressure and tracked back well too.

Left back is the only position in the team where we do have alternatives (i.e. Berner and Powell) :dunno:

David Stockdale- 7- pleases to see him in place of Warner

Michael Morrison- 7 - did well in an obviously unnatural role

Joe Mattock- 6 - worked hard to improve in the second half after a disastrous 1st half

Jack Hobbs- 7 - nothing spectacular but covered Morrison well when out of position

Wayne Brown- 8 - solid as a rock nothing got past him although a bit of a hoofer

Matt Oakley- 7 - great goal can't understand why a) he is becoming a target for some of the boo boys nor b) why he gets played on the wing

Lloyd Dyer - 8 - great performance and great celebration

Bruno Berner- 6 - sorry cannot see the point of Berner

Andy King- 7 - solid as a rock - sue the ref for accusing him of cheating

Steve Howard- 7

Matty Fryatt- 7 worked hard for little reward

Max Gradel- 7 needs a longer run in the team - has earned it

Stockdale - 7, I feel much more confident with him in goal than Warner.

Morrison - 6, struggled a bit playing out of position, which will be a worry for Monday.

Hobbs - 7, solid enough.

Brown - 8, completely solid.

Mattock - 6, really not coping at the moment, can't seem to decide when to tackle.

Oakley - 7, thought he did OK, and the free kick was quality.

Berner - 6, least inspiring performance for a while, and a bit anonymous compared to the rest of the midfield.

King - 7, should so have had the penalty, battled well all game. Well, OK, all the second half.

Dyer - 9, got better and better as the game went on. Good to have you back, Lloyd. MOTM.

Howard - 7, quiet in the first half, but very impressive in the second. Strong, yet a lovely touch to 'set up' Lloyd's goal. Assist?

Fryatt - 6, looked lacking in confidence again.

Gradel - 8, everything about him was a joy to watch.

I don't see either as being constructive alternatives. My idea of a full-back is a guy who's quick, reads the play, remains tight enough to subdue his opposite number but who can pass the ball accurately and has the stamina to support attacks with purpose and effect.
