CosbehFox Posted 15 June 2009 Posted 15 June 2009 City are saving face by being quiet and playing the waiting game. We'll happily take them to tribunal cos we know the money they are quoted won't materialise in a tribunal. Without Lincoln's agreement over a price, we'll have to wait until June 1 before revealing him when his Lincoln City contract expires.
MikeyT Posted 15 June 2009 Posted 15 June 2009 So much for the announcement of him signing today. The day aint over yet!

davieG Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 From the Merc Leicester chief executive Lee Hoos says a deal needs to be struck quickly with Lincoln to prevent the wrangle over Dany N'Guessan's compensation being decided by the courts. Hoos has revealed that talks in Portugal at the weekend failed to settle the amount which Lincoln will receive from City. Because N'Guessan is under 24, Lincoln are entitled to compensation. But Hoos refused to say how far apart the two clubs are in their valuation of the 22-year-old. Lincoln are reported to be looking for in the region of £400,000. Hoos, who was in Portugal for a Football League meeting, said: "The player has terms which he likes and would agree to, and we had discussions with Lincoln in Portugal but did not strike a deal. There are some things on the table which we have to decide on – and we either get the deal done very quickly or it will go to a tribunal. "Everyone would prefer to have a deal struck rather than go through the courts, but it depends what the deal is. I won't talk figures." Swindon striker Simon Cox has also been linked with City, and Robins chairman Andrew Fitton confirmed there had been a bid from Leicester for the player who scored 32 goals last season. Hoos said: "There are a number of players we are looking at, and I won't talk about a particular one, but if the chairman of Swindon says he received an offer from us, who am I to argue?" One valuation of Cox was put at £2.5million and Hoos added: "That is pretty steep for a League One player. "We know where we need to shore up, but we are trying to get things done within reason. "It's not a case of having an unlimited amount of money, market conditions are tight and we're trying to do the best we can with it." Hoos was reluctant to discuss the future of want-away striker DJ Campbell, who is still under contract with City until 2011 but following a successful loan period at Blackpool said that "the last thing he wanted to do was to return to Leicester." Seasiders boss Ian Holloway said the clubs had agreed a fee but Holloway baulked at the player's wage demands. "I'm not going to comment on the negotiations, but his contract is here and it's up to me, Nigel Pearson and DJ Campbell to sort something out," said Hoos. There has also been speculation that veteran defender Chris Powell may be offered a coaching role at the Walkers Stadium. He was not among the list of released players and Hoos added: "We'll have to see how that develops and what Nigel wants. "Chris is a great guy to have around the place."
surrifox Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 Hoos showing how to talk plenty but say very little. Surely we would be better off going to tribunal on the N'guessan fee- Lincoln are unlikely to be awarded anything close to £400k and could get considerably less

Surely we would be better off going to tribunal on the N'guessan fee- Lincoln are unlikely to be awarded anything close to £400k and could get considerably less But if they know they're unlikely to get what they want in a tribunal, then surely it gives us an advantage in negociating a lower price? As long as it's all done by the start of pre-season, it doesn't really matter that much how long it takes. Wanting to get it finished quickly is no reason to pay more than we have to.

Nicky Adams' wasn't sorted until part way into last season, it doesn't have to be sorted for him to play for us
Sniffer-Clarke Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 I can see it going to a tribunal but whether it does or not it is nothing short of a mess for a lower league player
MPH Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 I can see it going to a tribunal but whether it does or not it is nothing short of a mess for a lower league player we can not be blamed if it goes to tribunal - that wonderful chairman from lincoln i dont think has a clue what he is doing bless him. 150k at tribunal. maximum. He hasnt come up through the ranks, he was there for little mo0re than a year. They dont have a hope of getting anywhere near - its good to see MM being careful with his money.

As we were told there would be very few signings if we didn't get our STs early then I'd say this is our money.
Vlad The Impaler Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 Soo we have Weale, Neilson and presumably N'Guessan in. A Keeper, Right Back and Winger. If Milan stays true to his word by saying he wants 6 signings, what other 3 areas will be added to? I personally think a pacey forward, creative midfielder and maybe a big commanding midfielder who has a presence in the middle of the park. I would make a new topic but don't want to be one of those annoying noobs who start a new one every 5 minutes

Weale GK Player GK Hobbs CB Brown CB Neilson RB Player LB Player CM (N'Guessen LW) Player RM Player ST Player ST I think that's what we need. 6 more including the 5 (if we include N'Guessen) we've already signed. More players than I hoped we'd have to sign, but I think that's what we'll need to compete.
Vlad The Impaler Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 Hobbs CBBrown CB Neilson RB Player LB Tunchev?
