JakeShingler Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 If you can't do the time, don't commit the crime.Simple as that really. Bet they dint no the punishment was that harsh.
Tommeh Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 That's an absolute joke. Although these days nothing surprises me where the treatment of football fans is concerned.
Tommeh Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 Wasn't it the coach driver of the Leicester lads we met in Papillion? Yep. Their mate was one of them, got nicked meaning they had to spend the night in PAPILLION.
Darkzzz_ Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 It is a joke isn't it. It wasn't like they were running on to try and attack Ian Walker after a home mauling. pfffffttt !
Bert Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 5 years would be more fair if they were fighting with the other fans, this is ridiculous! Correct, it is well over the top to be fair. You'd think somewhere the "authorities" might go a little easy on them and that, maybe just a fine or something, but I imagine they will learn their lesson.

C-man Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 If you can't do the time, don't commit the crime.Simple as that really. Normally I'd agree, but 3 to 5 year bans for going onto the pitch for 5 seconds is unbelievable, especially when Wolves had pretty much the whole ground on the pitch, Southampton fans tried to attack Burnley fans etc. If these two got these bans, what will the people in the home end where it all kicked off get?
Sods Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 Ridiculous, hardly went onto the pitch. Glad I didn't do it now, was about to during the surge till i fell into some seats. Wolves should be deducted points then surely. There was quite a few that ran on at Hereford okay they got thrown out, but the police had common sense and talked to them basically saying don't do it again after.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 It is a joke isn't it. It wasn't like they were running on to try and attack Ian Walker after a home mauling.pfffffttt ! I was laughing so much when that happenned.
davieG Posted 30 April 2009 Author Posted 30 April 2009 Oliver Bolinbroke 28 of Enderby and Justin Jessop 34 of Coalville.
Craig Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 Oliver Bolinbroke 28 of Enderby and Justin Jessop 34 of Coalville. Wasn't Tubes then Still harsh.
Jiggers the Fox Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 I can see the reason for the fine, but what is a 5 year ban going to acheive? i dont think that someones 5 seconds of over-excitement should be punished so ridiculously harshly.
Tubes Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 Didn't Tubes say he went on after the 2nd goal? Got worried then as soon as I saw this thread rang my mate. The cops spoke to him before the Scunny match said they knew it was him but because he didnt actually get chucked out then he has probably got away with it. I shall not be doing that again thats for sure
Corky Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 Very harsh. A fine, fair enough, but 3 and 5 year bans? If it was a first offence, couldn't they at least suspend it, because I'm sure that would act as a massive deterent?
Cobbo Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 Bloody hell. Run on a bit of the Earth where you are told not to (because afterall, having crossed that line means that Swine flu is now in the UK) and you're hit in the wallet and banned from doing something you love for a long time - fair that is. I would like to see comparable sentences in the world and see what offence they did to get them - I'm sure you could get a £250 fine or so for punching someone or something. Which I would suggest is slightly worse than jumping about on a piece of grass.
Guest Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 Talk about wanting to make a point! This is shocking, and as others have said, it would be understandable if they were causing trouble, but a bit of over exuberant celebrations? I don't think so.
Bert Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 Not lee is it? No. But he was on the pitch and as Tubes said, he'd been spoke to about it all at the Scunny game.
maddog Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 Is that the guy with the long hair who ran on for the first goal been banned for that long then Such a harsh punishment. All he did was run across the touchline a few yards on the pitch pumping his fists. Was well funny. How are these bans enforced anyway? They could easily get a mate to buy them a ticket and go in. Or would that result in prison or something.
Rocky Dennis Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 Our mini-bus driver got nicked, he was wearing an England shirt. I know he was in court in Southend this week, not sure if he was one of the ones who was banned tho (not actually sure of his name TBH!) They kept him in the nick til midnight after the game. and bummed him
Matt Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 Can they not appeal? Doubt they'd get anywhere anyway but could atleast look into and discuss an appeal with an advisor or someone?
MC Prussian Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 Can they not appeal?Doubt they'd get anywhere anyway but could atleast look into and discuss an appeal with an advisor or someone? That's what I thought. There must be a way for them to take it one level higher and challenge the initial sentence, or isn't there?

If you read the news today, two people caught fooking on the Queen´s lawn got off without even a fine but these two lads get one for stepping on Southend´s pitch.
Shrenchel Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 That's what I thought. There must be a way for them to take it one level higher and challenge the initial sentence, or isn't there? Its already stung them for 250 quid, if they wanted have any chance of winning an appeal they would have to get a solicitor involved and it could just end up costing them a fook load more. To be honest if I was them Id probably just let it go. If clubs and the plod are gunna behave like this then they can stick their modern football up their arse, you aint really missing much anyway.
