Nick Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 Nobody has said that at all. Just that they're aiming to win it again. Given we've the best squad in the hemisphere that isn't really surprising. At this moment, I'd have to agree with that.
Guest Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 I don't think Wales will beat England in the 6 nations this season and I'm not sure they can beat France. I guess we'll see come mid March.
Finnegan Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 I don't think Wales will beat England in the 6 nations this season and I'm not sure they can beat France. I guess we'll see come mid March. Surely you get bored of being wrong repeatedly? I'm sure you said the same last year and we put a record score by you to ruin your Grand Slam and beat France at their gaff. For what it's worth, I think our game at Twickenham will be the hardest we play this season (more so than Australia should have been at home) and if we're not at 100% fitness I can see you edging it. But your post, as a confident prediction, is the gibberish burbling of an idiot. Again.
Finnegan Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 Rhys Patchell puts Cardiff up 3 - 0 in Glasgow with a 65 metre penalty in to a breeze. Wasn't even close to being short, either. That is ****ing terrifying. YouTube it later, it's bound to get uploaded.

davieG Posted 19 December 2013 Posted 19 December 2013 Leicester Tigers have spoken to Llanelli Scarlets and Wales star Rhys Priestland as a possible replacement for Toby Flood. Director of rugby Richard Cockerill has also "requested" to speak to Gloucester fly-half Freddie Burns when league regulations allow the two parties to talk from January 1. It seems that one of those three players will be the man leading Leicester into action next season in the No.10 shirt. Club captain Flood told Tigers in the summer that he wanted to see what the market had to offer before considering to sign an extended contract. But Leicester are clearly not messing around in seeking a replacement if Flood decides to take his services elsewhere, such as France or Japan. When asked if he had spoken to 26-year-old Priestland, about the possible vacancy, Cockerill replied: "Yes, I have spoken to his representatives. "I am sure there are lots of clubs who would like him – and there are rumours of Gloucester – but it's just how it fits in. "Priestland and Flood are of a similar age and have similar experience. "Preistland has not got as many caps as Flood but he is a very good player and there are not many fly-halves on the market. "Burns has clearly not signed for Gloucester yet. We are allowed to speak to their representatives, just not their players. "We have made our request but Gloucester have all the power at the minute because they are the only ones able to negotiate. "Then every player has the right to look around in January. If there are two or three players of equal quality, usually the first to the line wins the race." Leicester made it clear they have always wanted to keep Flood, but they have been bitten in the past when both Nick Evans and Juan Martin Hernandez signed for other clubs, instead of Leicester. If Priestland and Burns are Leicester's options this time, they have certainly covered their bases with two of the biggest names available. "Toby needs to make his mind up with regards to what he wants to do," added Cockerill. "Come January 1, if Floody has not come to an agreement with us, we have to look around." Tielemans63 Posted 21 December 2013 Posted 21 December 2013 Toby Flood leaving Tigers - confirmed by Cockerill before the Sarries game. Huge loss for Tigers, Flood is a great player.
Finnegan Posted 21 December 2013 Posted 21 December 2013 Sat on a train back from London, just been to see Sarries - Tigers at the Allianz with a uni friend that supports Sarries. No roof, no shelter, rained on and sat in blowing wind for 80 minutes with a stinking hangover and had to watch that smug cvnt Ashton score twice. Hard luck, Tigers fans. The few around me that travelled to sit in that didn't deserve that score. The team did, though, completely limp wristed. Disappointing.
Finnegan Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Super Rugby season due to start in a couple weeks. In light of Money Bill's imminent (2015) return I'm adopting the Chiefs. As a previous Crusaders sympathiser this is probably blasphemy. Anyone silly enough to be up early enough at the weekends to watch this? Simply the best domestic rugby in the world.
Finnegan Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Also, I know I'm totally talking to myself in this thread but big Sam Burgess being linked more strongly than ever to a Union move. The Northern monkeys will go nuts but that'd be huge news for England before the world cup. It'd also make amazing headlines if he crosses over at the same time SBW returns to union next year. The idea of them playing against each other at wc2015 is just... Wow.
notnow john Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Realistically, how many league players successfully switch?
Sparky Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Jason Robinson was the biggest success but you are correct, not many success stories
Finnegan Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Realistically, how many league players successfully switch? Sonny Bill Williams is one of the best linebreakers and offloaders in both sports. The thing with Burgess is that he's genuinely SBW's calibre, or almost. If he can pick up the positional play and the breakdowns of union he'll be excellent in union. Farrell came too late, Ashton has done well but wasn't of their quality, Izzy Folau is one of the best backs in either code and Quade Cooper came up playing league (though hasn't professionally.) Not many come from Super League and make it big in England but Burgess is really an NRL product and Australia makes phenomenal rugby players, period.
notnow john Posted 12 February 2014 Posted 12 February 2014 Burgess wants to play in next years World Cup and Bath want to sign him but can't afford to buy his NRL contract. The RFU are willing to pay 80% of it! How can the governing body effectively buy a player for one team, without ruining the integrity of the PL. Instead of wasting money on a gamble they should be identifying and developing talent. Like they have with BTt.

I agree with you in part and I work with a few Tigers fans who have had a grumble about this. I think he'd be a great steal for union and despite the fact I think he'd be devastating for England I'd like him to switch. He really isn't just another Splashton or even another Robinson. League used to develop better broken field runners which is why Robinson stood out but I think union has caught up. Burgess is something else, he's an immense athlete with great hands and even a surprising sidestep. Pains me to say it but I'd like to see him in the WC even though you're in our group! I think if the RFU get involved, though, all English clubs should be able to put a bid package together to approach him. That or he should buy himself out of his contract and sign up with Toulon a la SBW.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 A fine player, and will probably benefit Bath no end, but why should they only pay 20% of the cost? Very wrong in my book.
notnow john Posted 17 February 2014 Posted 17 February 2014 Well Bath have found £500,000 to buy Burgess out of his contract and he will join them in October. How will that impact on their wage cap?
Finnegan Posted 17 February 2014 Posted 17 February 2014 Well Bath have found £500,000 to buy Burgess out of his contract and he will join them in October. How will that impact on their wage cap? Not quite sure where contributions to his previous contract count in terms of wage caps? It's essentially a transfer, isn't it, like George North's to Northampton? I imagine he'll be on a tad more than North but maybe not by as much as you'd expect and I doubt Bath have many others on massive deals. If Saints and Sarries can manage their finances I'm sure he won't cripple Bath going there. Makes a change from them just poaching Tigers' B team anyway. I stand by what I've said in this thread, though, I genuinely think he'll be devastating in Union. Be very surprised if he flops, he's of the calibre of Izzy and SBW. He sounds like a thick as **** Northerner, he looks like a thick as **** Northerner, but he's got good skills as well as size. I was reading a few comments by England rugby fans and they were being cynical, made me howl. Complaining that it looked like Lancaster wanted to play ugly, brutish, smash-rugby. As if you're normally the Brazil of the sport. Christ. I'd much rather watch a thumping crash-ball game than your usual hoof it in the corner and grind the forwards up the park crap. Plus, he might be a wrecking ball but he's a wrecking ball with good hands. He's not just Courtney Lawes mk 2.
notnow john Posted 7 March 2014 Posted 7 March 2014 Just watching the England v Wales under 20s 67- 0 absolute massacre still 10 minutes to go. The sign of things to come?
CPW22 Posted 8 March 2014 Posted 8 March 2014 Really looking forward to the game tomorrow. Having played and followed rugby for years in my teens and early twenties before getting injured my passion has died off as of late but I think tomorrow will deliver. I still have concerns over our back line. Having seen lots of Twelvetrees over recent years I am still unconvinced about his ability to play at international level and I am not the biggest fan of Faz at 10, although he does make most of his kicks. I think the pack will win up front and we just need to be clinical, easier said than done with two inexperienced wingers. 7 point game either way.....hoping for an England win.
Nalis Posted 8 March 2014 Posted 8 March 2014 Just watching the England v Wales under 20s 67- 0 absolute massacre still 10 minutes to go. The sign of things to come? Sometimes its hard to read into those results. Forwards make the difference and can still go through a lot of physical development after 20...
