Joe. Posted 19 May 2009 Posted 19 May 2009 Id settle for that , prefer the other way round but id take it. If we wasnt to get it then the Aussies would be my next choice Same here really. Going to a world cup is one thing I'd really like to do, and natrually Australia would be a nice location for it. Did you get to see any games when you went to Germany Sparky?

Watched a fair few matches including the England ones in the fan parks and they were quality too.
lcfcadam Posted 19 May 2009 Posted 19 May 2009 For clarity's sake, here are all the teams that matter that got a lower average attendance than us this season, with the really poor ones in bold (considering the relative success / surrounding area size of the club: 28 Charlton Athletic (24-D1) 23 462564 24553 20111 27113 74.1% 29 Reading (4-D1) 23 458526 23879 19936 24200 82.3% 30 Portsmouth (14-PR) 19 376762 20540 19830 20688 95.8% 31 Birmingham City (2-D1) 23 438869 25935 19081 30009 63.5% 32 Wigan Athletic (12-PR) 18 330960 22954 18387 25138 73.1% 33 Southampton (23-D1) 23 410536 27228 17849 32689 54.6% 34 Cardiff City (7-D1) 23 401894 21000 17474 20376 85.7% 35 Coventry City (17-D1) 23 400378 22637 17408 32500 53.5% 36 Bristol City (10-D1) 23 385810 18456 16774 21479 78.0% 37 Crystal Palace (15-D1) 23 350070 22824 15220 26309 57.8% 38 Swansea City (8-D1) 23 349296 18053 15187 20500 74.0% 39 Watford (13-D1) 23 341743 16386 14858 19920 74.5% 40 Queens Park Rangers (11-D1) 23 324078 17120 14090 19148 73.5% 41 Preston North End (6-D1) 23 308791 21273 13426 19525 68.7% 42 Barnsley (20-D1) 23 303358 19681 13189 23186 56.8% 43 Burnley (5-D1) 23 300886 18005 13082 22546 58.0% 44 Huddersfield Town (9-D2) 23 295847 20928 12863 24500 52.5% 45 Bradford City (9-D3) 23 284452 14038 12367 25136 49.2% 46 Doncaster Rovers (14-D1) 23 275148 14823 11963 15231 78.5% 47 Plymouth Argyle (21-D1) 23 262827 14789 11427 19500 58.6% 48 Milton Keynes Dons (3-D2) 23 242662 17717 10551 22000 47.9% 49 Millwall (5-D2) 23 205622 13261 8940 20146 44.3% 50 Southend United (8-D2) 23 180550 10241 7850 12392 63.3% 51 Blackpool (16-D1) 23 180378 9643 7843 9491 82.6%
Joe. Posted 19 May 2009 Posted 19 May 2009 We were about sixth, behind Derby (!), Wolves, Sheff Utd, Norwich and Leeds. We were well ahead of Cov and Birmingham, though.. We were also just behind Charlton, Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday (although only just). Derby's average of 29,440 is very impressive for a Championship club given that they've had a pretty average season. Norwich and Forest's too to be fair. I think we should be pushing for top 6 average next season personally.
Koke Posted 19 May 2009 Posted 19 May 2009 Derby's season tickets were cheap as fuck if you purchased them before a certain date and most of them believed they would go straight back up. I'm sure they will average no more than 22/23k next season.
foxoffderby Posted 19 May 2009 Posted 19 May 2009 My original point was about the number of season ticket holders as opposed to who gets the biggest gates, and average attendences etc. I take the point we are well supported, but still think the number of season ticket holders is less than number of our rivals. Again I will point out Derby with around 24k and Norwich have 19k for next season in league1.

I'm sure they will average no more than 22/23k next season. I think they've sold quite a few STs for next season to be fair, although as some have said, they are (relatively) cheap. They also have a higher number of free STs (free for U12s instead of U18s), and I've even heard they have a very generous deferral scheme on payment. I've also heard they give away more matchday tickets for free (on community schemes, etc.) than clubs of similar size. I am not, however, certain of any of this. However, it wouldn't surprise me. Back to the topic , I'm not sure whether I want England to get the WC. From a Leicester perspective I don't see what we've got to lose, because the city could do with the investment and any expansion could only make the ground more interesting. On a national level, however, I've got serious concerns about clubs moving or redeveloping their grounds just to host group matches between Togo and Cameroon or something. I'm worried that by 2018 old, interesting grounds like Goodison Park, Hillsborough, etc. will no longer exist or will be redeveloped out of all recognition in an attempt to conform to Blatter's vision of football, or so that clubs like Forest can have big shiny new stadiums they will never fill.
Leicester Rule! Posted 19 May 2009 Posted 19 May 2009 Hope England do get the World Cup in 2018! Despite 2 years of friendlies, a chance to watch England in your own country hosting a World Cup, and a chance for Leicester to be hosting some games. Would definetly try to get to some games down the Walkers if it was used, even if England arnt playing there (which they wont be!!).

In fact I'd be very surprised if England played any matches outside of Wembley, because the FA will ensure that corporate hospitality and profit maximisation are the priorities, as well as paying off some of the vast debt they incurred in building the bloody thing. <_<

I dont know if its true but
Matt Posted 19 May 2009 Posted 19 May 2009 Dont Derby do silly things with giving tickets out? If you test drive a car, free tickets, buy a moible, free season ticket?I dont know if its true but TBF We gave alot of tickets away in our relegation season (Via people with Season Tickets) - Probably goes along way to explaining why we had a good attendance in that season, We have good crowds anyway but take away the free tickets given away and I doubt we'd have had such a good attendance.
The Doctor Posted 19 May 2009 Posted 19 May 2009 so is milan definately going to expand the stadium to 45k ? and 2moro apparently fook me has he got amillion chinese building it or something Polish people i think you'll find. Much cheaper. Besides if they are using leicester as a host city they would more than likely use welford road because once the redevelopment of the gorund is done (which by 2018 you would expect it to be) it will hold upwards of 35K (i heard)

Ultra Posted 19 May 2009 Posted 19 May 2009 It's 30000. I've seen a copy of the plans. I was talking today to a senior member of the Leicester presentation team. Mandaric and Birchenall were very enthusiastic and professional. Forest and Derby didn't send ANYONE. Their local councils weren't that supportive either However any expansion of the ground (probably an extra tier on the East Stand) would have to be funded through either the club itself or the FA.

I actually can wait to go to South Africa going to be the best time ever. It is easily the biggest sporting event in the world.
Koke Posted 20 May 2009 Posted 20 May 2009 I remember that - his second goal was sexual. I can't believe Guus had him on the bench to begin with it. Shocking stuff from Guus.

If you think that was sexual, you should of seen my celerbration. He had been injured i think by memory. As was the case with Guus those there was only 2 places for that attacking midfeilder postion to feed off Viduka. 2 places for 3 guys Cahill, Bresciano and Kewell. Oh well we won
Radovan's Caravan Posted 20 May 2009 Posted 20 May 2009 Here in Vojvodina we smile a lot at the dealings of our exiled son 'Arkan.' We see now his net worth according to your newspapers is about £75m and that he paid £25m for your football club. This is proof that your education system is merde - try moving the decimal point two places to the right and then two places to the left to get the REAL figures. I liked your stadium when I visited for England V Serbia some years ago (1-0 to you, Joe Cole with a free kick I think) -very good view of the pitch. Why don't your fans like it? I cannot believe it when I read comments on this forum that the stadiums of Everton and Leeds are 'good architecture.' They are a joke here when they are on TV, we say they were built from the rubble in Sarajevo! Now I know how 'Arkan' managed to 'lose' your club £14m - wake up English!

Radovan's Caravan Posted 20 May 2009 Posted 20 May 2009 Here is some terrible football 'architecture' And this is a monstrous carbuncle from the face of your Prince Charles... Finally a view of the beautiful reconstructed scrapyard, Sarajevo PS I heard that its 'crazy' owner wants to move out...from behind one of those many architecturally interesting pillars. (a man who would show such a construction to the world would shit in front of his own grandmother)
Babylon Posted 20 May 2009 Posted 20 May 2009 There are a number of sponsorship deals and fundraising events in the pipeline. I doubt there'll be any serious long-term financial damage. Most pipelines are usually full of shit.
Babylon Posted 20 May 2009 Posted 20 May 2009 However any expansion of the ground (probably an extra tier on the East Stand) would have to be funded through either the club itself or the FA. I presume the council won't want their faces everywhere then should we pull it off. Surely they could contribute something for a once in a lifetime opportunity!!!! Or will they just sit back and enjoy the glory and benefits?
