Bert Posted 26 May 2009 Posted 26 May 2009 Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford has been put on the transfer list after rejecting a new three-year deal. The club's 25-year-old leading scorer for last season has 12 months left on his current contract. Chief executive Shaun Harvey said: "We always look to retain our most effective players, but only within appropriate financial parameters. "The offer we made is very good, but he has exercised his right to turn it down," he told the club's website. "On the basis that he has 12 months remaining on his current contract and could leave on a free transfer next summer, we feel we must consider any offers that are forthcoming for him. "In the event that no offers are forthcoming or the offers received are unacceptable to us then he will remain part of Simon Grayson's squad next season." Beckford has scored 54 goals in 98 appearances for Leeds since signing from non-league Wealdstone in March 2006. He had loan spells at Carlisle and S****horpe, helping the Iron to promotion to the Championship in the 2006/07 season. He was given his chance to impress back at Elland Road the following season and scored 20 goals as Leeds lost out in the League One playoff final to Doncaster. Last season he weighed in with another 34 goals as Leeds again lost out in the play-offs, this time to Millwall in the semi-finals. Link.
StanSP Posted 26 May 2009 Posted 26 May 2009 So would you take him? Nope. Don't like his attitude, and think we can do better to be honest.
Darkzzz_ Posted 26 May 2009 Posted 26 May 2009 Oh yes. Brap Brap Beckford Give me a price Tommy. What is his "Tommy G" value?
Tommy G Posted 26 May 2009 Posted 26 May 2009 Give me a price Tommy. What is his "Tommy G" value? £1,550,000
J.Lisemore Posted 26 May 2009 Posted 26 May 2009 Looks like Leeds are no longer a One-Man-Team then. Thats 30 of their goals gone for next season unless they find a reasonable replacement, that won't be hard though will it because Leeds are MASSIVE.
Tommy G Posted 26 May 2009 Posted 26 May 2009 Like the figures. That's a snip. Especially in this ''economic downturn'' That was Yanited's excuse for not wanting to pay enough for Tevez
SMX11 Posted 26 May 2009 Posted 26 May 2009 i had a quick look on WACCOE and they are furious, then they are saying how shit he is anyway Leeds staying down again ....
Koke Posted 26 May 2009 Posted 26 May 2009 I would be furious too if some poxy little chav who was playing non-league football before and the we took him out of that mediocrity and made him the player he is now, suddenly turns around thinking he is too good for the club.
SMX11 Posted 26 May 2009 Posted 26 May 2009 hahaha they are talking about getting cox I hope they do come in for DJ that would make me a very happy man. I seriously cant see them getting out of that division next year, you will expect that two of the relegated clubs to be there are there abouts, Milwall will be tough to beat, Huddesfield should challenge as well im my opinion.

I think Beckford would be an excellent signing
David Guiza Posted 26 May 2009 Posted 26 May 2009 Did anyone see the odds about him on SSN ? Apparently Newcastle are faveroites.
Tilley Posted 26 May 2009 Posted 26 May 2009 Andy Carroll & Jermaine Beckford would get Newcastle out of the Championship.
Maybes Posted 26 May 2009 Posted 26 May 2009 This will have Leeds fans crying into their yorkshire hotpot tonight.
dandannieldanok Posted 26 May 2009 Posted 26 May 2009 I'd take Beckford over Cox personally. Andy Carroll & Jermaine Beckford would get Newcastle out of the Championship. Yep agree with that.

I cannot agree more, especially if it was his penalty miss that cost us in the play-off semi.
