lavrentis Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 That's exactly what it sounds like. It's really horrible. It's not even like there's a chant, or backing noises for a chant - it's just constant droning noise. This is the kind of shit people suffer in Guantanamo Bay. I feel sorry for the fans of the football team who faces South Africa next year.
Guest Bilo Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 Fuck me, I'd rather listen to No Surrender than those twatting horns.

While sat in a bath.
Guest Bilo Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 North Korea have qualified for the World Cup for the first time since.......... 1966. Expect all the redtops to be talking about lucky omens from now till next year.

Edmund Posted 17 June 2009 Author Posted 17 June 2009 North Korea have qualified for the World Cup for the first time since..........1966. Expect all the redtops to be talking about lucky omens from now till next year. How will there fans support them? They have no outside tv broadcasts and no one is allowed to leave the country. Watch the propaganda stunt, I bet they will only let certain people watch it, basically the people who eat well and are government officials just to try and show the rest of the world there are no problems.
Edmund Posted 17 June 2009 Author Posted 17 June 2009 http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/feedarticle/8563439Blatter and Xavi Alonso's opinions "It's a local sound and I don't know how it is possible to stop it," he said on Wednesday. "I always said that when we go to South Africa, it is Africa. It's not western Europe."It's noisy, it's energy, rhythm, music, dance, drums. This is Africa. We have to adapt a little." Makes a good point though

Apparently they have a lot of ethnic Korean fans living in Japan known as Zainichi who will follow them to South Africa, but I don't doubt the regime will send out some hand-picked Communist Party members to boost their numbers.
Ultra Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 Whoever made the decision to give them away free to fans should be fed into a mincer. This. Can't believe FIFA didn't know what would happen when they gave South Africa the World Cup. The sponsors are unlikely to be impressed when the audiences start sinking.
john_lcfc Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 O havent watched this yet, what exactly is this problem?
Tevez Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 South Africa as a venue is starting to fook me off already.
Ultra Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 Watch this and find out. It sounds like a million angry bees are at the match...
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 18 June 2009 Posted 18 June 2009 That's why the confed cup is in SA so they can iron out all these issues in before next year.
Radovan's Caravan Posted 18 June 2009 Posted 18 June 2009 So how come Sky didn't bid for them last time out. Then secondarily, it would disrupt their respective coverage of other competions at the same time. If it was such a goldmine for the BBC, then why stick it out on BBC3? Taking your points in reverse order: (3) This one is in danger of disappearing up its own fundament. Why bid for African football at all? Why bid for anything if you are going 'to stick it out' on BBC 3? Why bother with having a BBC 3 in the first place? Clearly the demo's for African football suited the Tristrams in Shepherds Bush. Maximising/introducing audience to niche TV. Harnessing the possibilities of the digitlal platform. Demonstrating the capability of red button technology. And all the other broadcast marketing cliches you can throw up without puking. Oh yeah and it's real cool to be seen to be saving Africa... (2) I take it that you mean African football would compete with other Sky football/sporting content? Last time I looked I did notice that Sky does tend to air different (football) matches on Sky Sports 1, 2 etc at identical or overlapping times. (1) I don't know why Murdoch didn't bid last time round. One of the reasons could have been that maximising audience was/is dependent on the number of Premiership stars appearing - particualrly Chelsea's and Arsenal's which of course is dependent on tournament qualification. Or he just didn't want to pick up the tab for Hosni's after dinner 'entertainment'.
CosbehFox Posted 18 June 2009 Posted 18 June 2009 So explain why no competitive nature to bidding for the Asian Cup, Gold Cup etc. If you illustrating that the reason BBC televise the ANC is to please immigrants in London, then surely we have enough immigrants from Asia, US, Mexico etc. to sustain showing other football. Can't argue against the Africa comment mind. As for Sky to my knowledge, they never televise football matches at the same time. They might clash different sporting live events. But look at their slots of different coverage, all place to accomdate different leagues. Take the ol 5.25 kick-offs, finish at roughly 7.30....perfectly time for the Spainish 8 or 9 o clock kick-offs. As for the last comment, it clearly shows you are withering in some attempt to justify yourself looking intelligent or that you know something. There's probably more players from the French League playing in the tournament than the select 20 from the English leagues. As for the Aboutrika award thingmebob, the BBC Sport website is read by more than people based in England and given North Africa's more Westernised society in regards to technology, it's hardly surprising an Egyptian player wins it.
AjcW Posted 18 June 2009 Posted 18 June 2009 South Africa as a venue is starting to fook me off already. However some of the stadiums are quite beautiful, especially the new builds.... http://www.sa-venues.com/2010/2010-stadium.htm

Wycombe Fox Posted 18 June 2009 Posted 18 June 2009 I was watching USA v Brazil but had to turn it off. That noise was sending me crazy. Sounds like 80000 rampant rabbits all going off at once (allegedly!) Hope this isn't replicated in the World Cup next year.

Same here, turned it on in the second half and turned it back off again after 5 minutes of the torture.
AmericanScott Posted 18 June 2009 Posted 18 June 2009 I too had to turn it off as the noise is horrible and annoying. Plus, when i turned it on Brazil had just scored number 3. Good timing :\
