Ultra Posted 16 June 2009 Posted 16 June 2009 Egypt whinge over Webb penalty award I hope FIFA tell them where to go..
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 16 June 2009 Posted 16 June 2009 Let's just say certain outcomes in sport can be arranged. I particularly liked how it was arranged for this man to become the BBC's 'Afican Footballer of the Year 2008.' Recognise him anybody? Mohammed Aboutreika, one of the most talented and respected footballers in Africa. Just becasue he hasn't made the switch to Europe in his career doen't make him any less worthy of the award, I actually remember voting for him through the website. Not everything is a conspiracy.
StanSP Posted 16 June 2009 Posted 16 June 2009 Egypt whinge over Webb penalty awardI hope FIFA tell them where to go.. What the hell are they complaining about?? If anything, the player who feigned injury to his head should be punished. It was clear handball!
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 16 June 2009 Posted 16 June 2009 I've still got a lob on over Zidan's second.
dandannieldanok Posted 16 June 2009 Posted 16 June 2009 On this occasion Howard Webb was spot on. He initially gave a corner.
Finnegan Posted 16 June 2009 Posted 16 June 2009 I've still got a lob on over Zidan's second. I thought you might.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 16 June 2009 Posted 16 June 2009 I thought you might. The way he lets the ball run across him and then lashes it in with his left.
Radovan's Caravan Posted 16 June 2009 Posted 16 June 2009 Mohammed Aboutreika, one of the most talented and respected footballers in Africa. Just becasue he hasn't made the switch to Europe in his career doen't make him any less worthy of the award, I actually remember voting for him through the website. Not everything is a conspiracy. Abou Trika, Aboutrika or Aboutreika is indeed very talented and widely respected in Africa. But as we all know, being very good at something and getting recognition for it are two very different things. Aboutrika is a name that's familiar only to hardened football nutcases outside the Maghreb. He has very little cross-over recognition in Africa let alone anywhere else. The only footballers Africans are interested in are those that are playing for the big clubs in the major European leagues. Given his profile it would be impossible for him to win an international popularity poll operated under free and fair conditions. Given our public service and commercial broadcasters appalling record in rigging polls, on the balance of probabilities, it would be naive in the extreme to assume that the BBC's nomination was a true and accurate reflection of voter opinion. Don't forget also that the BBC had an interest in securing this result - the small matter of acquiring future rights to The African Cup of Nations.
Finnegan Posted 16 June 2009 Posted 16 June 2009 But only hardened football nutcases would have even known or noticed there was a poll / award to vote on let alone been bothered to do it. I think the mere fact MTWG is probably the only person on that website that knew about it, voted and voted for the man who won sort of proves his own point.

I particularly liked how it was arranged for this man to become the BBC's 'Afican Footballer of the Year 2008.' Recognise him anybody? Even Hosni's football sub committee knew they wouldn't be able to get away with that so they very sensibly voted for Kalou. Nothing like a BBC phone poll to give you the right result. Aboutrika. Don't forget also that the BBC had an interest in securing this result - the small matter of acquiring future rights to The African Cup of Nations. What competition was there for the rights, Radovan? I can only remember ANC being showed on Channel 4 other than the BBC.

Ultra Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 I'm not sure Sky would have broken the bank trying to outbid the beeb for that.
breadandcheese Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 Radovan's Caravan - Is that you Chandler? Better than Mulder & Scully. The truth is out there..... On another note, the one thing that's really annoying me about the Confederations Cup is the constant horn blowing from the fans in the stadium. I hope the Beeb and ITV turn down the crowd noises for the world cup because it's like having a fly in the room, constantly buzzing near you for 90 minutes.
Finnegan Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 It'll be different in the World Cup. Teams will typically be fairly well supported by their own fans, you'd imagine,
Mikey Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 Spain only beat Iraq 1-0, David Villa scoring. South Africa are beating New Zealand 1-0 atm, 35 minutes gone.
Koke Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 I reckon the best XI of FoxesTalk could take on New Zealand.
Koke Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 Fucks sake, if this what the World Cup is gonna be like next year I will be watching it on mute. Those bloody bellends should stop wasting their money on horns and buy some damn food rather than getting Bob Geldof to ask me to send canned beans to them.
Guest Bilo Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 I reckon the best XI of FoxesTalk could take on New Zealand. They are unbelievably poor. I dread to think how awful their opposition must be in the OFC, not too difficult to see why Australia were so eager to escape to competitive football in Asia.

So how come Sky didn't bid for them last time out. Then secondarily, it would disrupt their respective coverage of other competions at the same time. If it was such a goldmine for the BBC, then why stick it out on BBC3?

Not sure if I could handle that noise all of next summer, sounds like a fucking bluebottle flying near the microphone.
Koke Posted 17 June 2009 Posted 17 June 2009 Not sure if I could handle that noise all of next summer, sounds like a fucking bluebottle flying near the microphone. That's exactly what it sounds like. It's really horrible. It's not even like there's a chant, or backing noises for a chant - it's just constant droning noise. This is the kind of shit people suffer in Guantanamo Bay.
