Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 18 June 2009 Posted 18 June 2009 Quite looking forward to Italy/Egypt.
Koke Posted 18 June 2009 Posted 18 June 2009 Egypt are a half decent side but they give the possession away a lot, but Italy are too shit to actually take advantage of it. And their kit is shit too.
Darkzzz_ Posted 18 June 2009 Posted 18 June 2009 Italy have been so poor. But I don't think Egypt have been that good. Your right Kareem, Italy have been so shit that they haven't been able to take advantage of it. Italy lack pace and Lippi needs to take something from this, the younger players need to get a look in, I thought that's what these tournaments were all about, trying players out?

Did Montolivo play?
Darkzzz_ Posted 18 June 2009 Posted 18 June 2009 Did Montolivo play? He came on in the second half. He needs to start games. Lippi really needs to shift players. Zambrotta, Toni, Camronesi and Gattuso need to go. Why he never took Foggia I will never know.
dandannieldanok Posted 18 June 2009 Posted 18 June 2009 Yes come on Egypt, really hope they go through with Brazil.
Radovan's Caravan Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 So explain why no competitive nature to bidding for the Asian Cup, Gold Cup etc. If you illustrating that the reason BBC televise the ANC is to please immigrants in London, then surely we have enough immigrants from Asia, US, Mexico etc. to sustain showing other football. Can't argue against the Africa comment mind. As for Sky to my knowledge, they never televise football matches at the same time. They might clash different sporting live events. But look at their slots of different coverage, all place to accomdate different leagues. Take the ol 5.25 kick-offs, finish at roughly 7.30....perfectly time for the Spainish 8 or 9 o clock kick-offs. As for the last comment, it clearly shows you are withering in some attempt to justify yourself looking intelligent or that you know something. There's probably more players from the French League playing in the tournament than the select 20 from the English leagues. As for the Aboutrika award thingmebob, the BBC Sport website is read by more than people based in England and given North Africa's more Westernised society in regards to technology, it's hardly surprising an Egyptian player wins it. Cardiff Fox, This is positively my last comment on the 'Aboutrika Affair'. I can't comment on the Asian/Gold cup tenders. All I'll say here is that the African tournament has a better reputation than either. As for the BBC trying 'to please immigrants in London' all I'll say is you are guilty of a significant misinterpretation of my remarks. No, for the purpose of clarification, I'll say a little more. The BBC is trying to showcase a niche digital channel and a somewhat limited form of interactive technology. Even the news of Aboutrika's poll win failed to please London's immigrant population... OK lets say you're right about Sky worrying about schedule clashes. If Murdoch got his putrid fingers on the ANC Mubarek's mobsters at CAF would be only too happy to lick their own sphincters to accommodate him. I don't quite know what you are driving at in your penultimate paragraph. Either you have simply misunderstood me (again) and/or your 'French League' argument is a howling non sequitur. So here we go a second time. The value of ANC airing/syndication rights (to Murdoch) depends crucially on the presence of players with a high UK & international profile. The relevant talent is concentrated in the right clubs (eg Arsenal & Chelsea) in the world's most commercially exposed league. But ANC qualification means the high profile stars maybe denied the opportunity to play in the tournament proper. Your last para is so ill considered it is an insult to the intelligence. Even Francophone Africa is more Angophile than Egypt and Black Africa is infinitely more populous. South Africa, Nigeria Ghana etc are techno literate and not subject to internet restrictions prevelant in some areas of the Maghreb. Now let me repeat myself one last time. The BBC and its domestic terrestrial competitors have all been exposed as chronic, compulsive poll riggers. Aboutrika's 'victory' in a so called international poll flies in the face of a considerable body of evidence about voter behaviour in such contests and is about as credible as Phil Neville winning 'Goal of the Month' with a scuffed penalty. BBC polls now have to meet strict Eurovision standards
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Aboutreika is class. Really, really like Egypt.
StanSP Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Aboutreika is class. Really, really like Egypt. One of the best players on the pitch last night. Their right mid, Fatih (sp?) had a good game too. Anyone see Shawky's mis-spelt name in first half as Shakwy ?

Anyone see Shawky's mis-spelt name in first half as Shakwy ? Love the man. Would love to see him in Europe before he retires. How Fatih never really made any impression at Sheff United is strange imo, looks a tidy player
dandannieldanok Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 How Fatih never really made any impression at Sheff United is strange imo, looks a tidy player Shit club that doesn't play football to suit someone like him.
lcfc_jme Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Aboutreika is class. Really, really like Egypt. Bundles of energy and some tidy footballers as well. Knew they wouldn't be completely rolled over in this tournament. Also, am I the only person who doesn't actually mind the Vuvuzelas?? It's much more tolerable than them fucking horns that are given to little kids at friendlies, cup finals and England Under 21's games. For goodness sakes, it's in a different country, nobody could really honestly believe that they'd go to South Africa and stadium conduct would be the same as it is in Europe?!! Shit on a stick.
Jimmy Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Vuvuzelas are the same as those annoying horns, the only difference is the people in SA have SOME musical rhythm when blowing them. they are still annoying as hell
Jordan Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 DaMarcus Beasley is the worst player in the world. Egypt are gonna humiliate the U.S. on Sunday. I'm thinking about not watching the game.
Radovan's Caravan Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Love the man. Would love to see him in Europe before he retires. How Fatih never really made any impression at Sheff United is strange imo, looks a tidy player It's most unlikely that Aboutrika would ever be allowed to leave Al Ahly let alone Egypt - he is too important a part of the Mubarak spin machine. Even if the Cairo vultures were prepared tolet him go his age and provenance would leave them with just hair and bones (for a time I thought that ludicrous BBC poll was a signal for a bidding war) Al Ahly's president is Hassan Hamdy (a formidable player to in his prime) who also happens to be chairman of the Al Ahram advertising agency one of the many jewels in the Al Ahram crown (another is it's eponymous daily which just happens to be the main prop rag of the ruling party, the National Democratic Party) By a remarkable coincidence Al Ahram is also the advertising agency retained by CAF. So now you know where to send your 'irritated of Oadby' postcards to whenever you hear their spectacular abomination: AFRICAN CUP OF NATIONS
breadandcheese Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Radovan's Caravan/Chandler - I'm still waiting for the answer to who took Madeleine McCann. The Truth is Out There Mulder, the Truth is Out There.
Ultra Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Radovan's Caravan/Chandler - I'm still waiting for the answer to who took Madeleine McCann. This article might offer a fairly large clue
StanSP Posted 20 June 2009 Posted 20 June 2009 What does Madeline McCann have to do with the African Cup of Nations?
breadandcheese Posted 20 June 2009 Posted 20 June 2009 What does Madeline McCann have to do with the African Cup of Nations? There was/is a poster called Chandler who was full of conspiracy theories. A few of these include: - Roma getting hammered 7-1 by Man U a few years back in a plot involving France, Italy and Spain to stop England getting world cup 2010. He was adament that South Africa would not host the world cup as FIFA would take it away. Probably still is. - Madeleine McCann was snatched in some elaborate conspiracy. He knew who had kidnapped her and was going to reveal it to us on here. We're still waiting for that reveal. The posting styles of Radovan and Chandler are exactly the same. They both love their ridiculous conspiracy story.
