Most overrated player at the club, should have sold him to Wolves when we had the opportunity.

West Ham you mean? Did Wolves put in a bid for Mattock? I think that's Matty Fryatt you are referring to.

I'm not having a go at anyone.

Are you fully confident that Joseph will hold his own in the Championship? He's been a weak link in our team this season. No point in pussyfooting around the subject, to be honest.

We conceeded 39 goals in 46 games this season and collected more points than any other season in our history. If he was the weak link, then the chain didn't break.

I am pretty confident he will hold his own in the Championship, contrary to popular belief most of the wingers are not Arjen Robben and he is better on the ball than any left back we have had in years. He is also strong enough and good enough in the air to cope with the physicality of the league. If he has a few shakey games then we have a Swiss International that can fill in.

Also this big time Charlie thing? On what grounds? Cos he has a tattoo and doesn't have a Wayne Brown hair cut?

PS if he turns out to be as good a player as Stearman then we will have a promotion-chasing-championship-quality player. Which of course would be the end of the world.

Liverpool, Aston Villa, Everton, West Ham and Newcastle were all interested with a reported fee of £5mil, why we didn't take that I don't know.

If we were offered that I am sure we would have taken it.

wolves enquired about him but never made a bid cos our asking price was too high

that's what mccarthy said when we tried to sign davies

he thought it was crazy how we asked for so much for mattock and bid so little for davies

I'm staggered at the way people either turn a blind eye or are completely oblivious to how shite a player he is. League 1 wingers ran circles around him, he has no positional sense whatsoever, no awareness, gets turned with consumate ease and makes poor decisions. He is pure and utter w@ank.

Sadly I have to agree, if hes one of our best youth academy products and we're one of the so called best academy set ups in the country then I really am worried for the future of English football.

:crylaugh:

Stearman was at least one 11th of the reason we went down, dont care what hes done for the Yam Yams (they slate him BTW) but he was shite for us,

A Skinny mans Tony Spearing..

Not sure whether West Ham actually followed up their interest but as Shiv says Wolves inquired and were rightly scared off by Mandaric asking big bucks. They definitely wanted him.

Hes Stearman II, gets worse as he gets older.

would that be the same Richard Stearman that just played a vital role as Wolves won the championship? yeah he's total gash

can't wait until this time next year when everyone's turned on Andy King, god knows we can't be happy with players that came through our academy for more then 1 season

Andy Kings done more this season than Mattocks ever done in a season.

i know a few wolves fans and they aren't too keen on him

Man Utd fans aren't too keen on Darren Fletcher that doesn't mean he isn't a good player that holds a key role for them

Everyone seems to forget we have a decent left back in Bunsen Berner......

Mattock is one for the future, although he's had his moments he is still only 18 and learning his trade.

Happy to have Berner at left back and mattock for cover. Cant belive people getting on his back

he would pay for Cox.

I think his private life should be kept out of it

I think we should hold on to him unless we get an offer of £2million plus (unlikely at the moment!) He's still very young but hasn't progressed at the rate that was expected. Under the astute guidance of big Nige though, he may still go on to develop into a very good player.

Really?

I don't think Berner looked any better than Mattock at left back.

I thought Berner looked a lot more assured at left back; he should be first choice next season.

Think people should be careful when we talk about mattock, Personally don`t think he is the best in defence at times, but thats more due to the fact he has no positional sence and finds himself in forward positions. I think Pearson will take him under his wing in the summer and he will cope in the championship, again like many others slated stearman and his was voted wolves player of the season and in the championship team of the season.

He was voted into the Championship team of the season. If Mattock does the same next season I won't be complaining (can't be so sure about others).

West Ham bid a lot of money for Mattock.

lol

How do you know this then? All the United supporting "mates" you've got?

Mattock's got great potential. Needs to work on positional play and defending but is good going foward. Im a fan. On the Stearman issue. He did have a bad season for city last year, and I for one wasent bothered when he left. However, watched him play for Wolves this season and he has improved. But it should be noted Wolves played him in the middle of defence, wereas he was playing fullback mostley for us last season and wasn't very good.

but actually that's not how, go on any mixed football forum that has United fans and they slag him off all the time
