welck12 Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 ever been to Thurnby Lodge, its full of United "fans"but actually that's not how, go on any mixed football forum that has United fans and they slag him off all the time Well most of the united fans i know (an i live just outside manchester, and quite surprisingly thats where they come from) they "slag him off" for his lack of skill but they understand that he does all the dirty work for them; he runs his bollocks off and keeps things simple. He lives the rest of the stuff to the big boys; he knows his limitations and sticks to them. Everyteam needs a player like that EDIT - scrap that i've just read your above post (didnt read the thread properly) and agree completly with the original comment you made
CosbehFox Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 He's become a Mr 'Big Bollocks's apparently, all gone to his head. You have to look at his motor and number plate to that. He's been my scapegoat for the season and I rated him previously.
Bert Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 ever been to Thurnby Lodge, its full of United "fans"but actually that's not how, go on any mixed football forum that has United fans and they slag him off all the time Why would I want to go there? But I've realised the key part he plays for United. He used to be in the Carling cup squads all the time - Now, he isn't and only plays in the big crunch games. I'm not gonna argue with Alex Ferguson!

Tommeh Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 Joe seemed to be putting in a decent shift down Life a few fridays ago but as for this season his performances at left back have certainly been behind those of Powell and Bruno. Did well at Yeovil mind especially going left mid. Still he's still young and one for the future but if the right offer comes in he's certainly not vital to the squad.

Who would replace him tho really? Powel? No way Berner? Can not see him playing 50+ games next season without getting injured.
Tommeh Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 Who would replace him tho really? Powel? No way Berner? Can not see him playing 50+ games next season without getting injured. When I said the right offer, that would obviously mean ££££ possibly for a replacement but I honestly think we'd be fine with Powell or Berner can't remember either putting a foot wrong all season with the exception of the penalty Berner gave away against Scunny. Besides LB talk is irrelevant, Tunchev will be back next season and if he and Hobbs conced more than 10 all season I'll be amazed.
Jimmy Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 Thurnby Lodge is Loverly. nah seriously now Shingler you have to admit it is a shithole, not as bad as some places but a shithole all the same
carterfox90 Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 thought this season we would see what all the fuss was about very poor imo hopefully being young he was learning his trade just hope he was'nt a flash in the pan like stearman cambell etc
Pete_foxes Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 He'll get ripped to pieces next year if he plays like he has done for the majority of this season. There's going to be some quality wingers in the Championship, and considering he's struggled against a lot of League One players I fear for him next year.I've never been totally convinced by him, but it's very easy to forget he's still only 18. However, should a substantial offer come our way for him I wouldn't hesitate to accept it, and I don't think Milan would either this time. Going by his performances this season though, I can't see many Premiership clubs knocking again. its true, he will defiantly When I said the right offer, that would obviously mean ££££ possibly for a replacement but I honestly think we'd be fine with Powell or Berner can't remember either putting a foot wrong all season with the exception of the penalty Berner gave away against Scunny.Besides LB talk is irrelevant, Tunchev will be back next season and if he and Hobbs conced more than 10 all season I'll be amazed. My feelings on Berner is that he is too slow! somebody with abit of pace, not necessarily a top championship winger will give him some problems.

Calum McDermott Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 Am I the only one who thinks he's quality? No i do aswell. If he was abysmal why would he be selected for england u21's.
Calum McDermott Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 its true, he will defiantlyMy feelings on Berner is that he is too slow! somebody with abit of pace, not necessarily a top championship winger will give him some problems. He didn't get ripped too pieces last year when we were in the championship at all! Hence we had one of the best defensive records in the league.
Alexikokopops Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 OK, perhaps I used the wrong word, maybe whipping boy would be more appropriate. There we go, I'm just a pedant
Ozwin Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 But he gets well good on football manager.. This, FM never lies.
Big Ol' Bob Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 The problem with young players who burst on to the scene is that if they don't carry it on they are considered shit. To suddenly come out of nowhere, get into the first team, then earn an england u-21 call up, there is not a lot more you can do to top it off. This has been his first whole season as a footballer, and to be honest I think for his age and experience he has done well.
DB11 Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 Am I the only one who thinks he's quality? Well I'm not a fan.
MarkDeVries Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 If only Chris Powell was 1 year younger! Mattock is still learning though and if he gets his head set right he may become a quality left back in the Powell mould. He has shown some potential but this season I've been disappointed in him (not just for Leicester but England aswell). Too many mistakes. Nigel Pearson can only be a good influence on him though so hopefully next season we see an improvement. Come on Joe Why does everyone fook Chris Powell? Honestly This, FM never lies. Seconded
pooleyLCFC Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 Let me preface by admitting ive not seen him play (obviously) however... we have a current england u21 rep player who at 18..is apparently showing some real talent.Hold on to him...let NP sort his head out and let Powell sort his game out, and maybe when we are knocking on the premiership door..we will have a quality young player that will be an important member of the team. Spot on IMO
lcfctllidie91 Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Am I the only one who thinks he's quality? no i think the same he does make alot of mistakes but how do players gain experience if they are on the subs bench? and using that penalty at hereford against him is a bit harsh, Bruno Berner is the one to give away all the free kicks, some have resulted in the goals which have took 2 points off us. and am i the only one who thought stearman was good? i rate stearman above gilbert. and i also thought Morrison plays much better at RB than gilbert. the fact we have so many premiership clubs looking at him tells you there must be potential there.

I agree that Morrison was a better RB than Gilbert. Gilbert was a decent lad who gave 100%, but he did get caught out quite a few times. I like the lad Morrison, he has been a real find from non-league, & is dependable as centre back or full back. Although IMO we do need to bring in a specialist right back. I have liked the look of Tom Cleverly when he has been called upon to play right back, he gives an attacking option from a defender which we don't really have.
soley118 Posted 2 June 2009 Posted 2 June 2009 I watched the under 19 game he played in last night and he come off with an injury does anyone know how serious it turned out to be?
