Salieri Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 Mind games. I see....well, anything that might piss pug faced Ponting off has gotta be worth doin!
Narborough Bod Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 So what will it be to do with? The team batting overnight gets the choice of which roller to have on the wicket, light or heavy. If any cracks are starting to appear, get the heavy roller out and it'll help bring them out. Only problem is that the Aussies then get to use the light roller at lunch, tea, overnight and at each break tomorrow.
Webbo Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 A lead of 800 needed? You must really lack confidence in our ability! They'll bat for 30mins at most. When I said dinner I meant lunch. Imo they'd want a 600 odd lead and get the Aussies in the field for a couple of ours.
C-man Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 Australia can still win this game as it stands. If we bat for any of the morning session and get a lead of 550-600, it'll be considered safe but negative. If we've declared overnight, Australia will have two days to make 521. Possible but improbable, and a positive move from England. Either way this is going to be tight with the way the wicket is playing. I just hope Swann has learnt to spin it.
Narborough Bod Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 I'd like to see us bat 15-30 mins, get the lead up beyond 550. Give oursleves 170 ish overs, 3 new balls at the start, 80 and 160 overs. Really attacking fields, players in the eyeline of the batsmen, sledging from the word go, intimidating bowling.

I really doubt Australia will catch us up now. They will be playing for the draw especially if the weather doesn't hold. Lets just hope our bowlers come out all guns blazing. Lets hope we are victors come the end of play with a day to spare.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 I believe in miracles since you came along. You sexy thing
Fox You Forest Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 I think improbable is being very generous, Miracle sounds about right, for the win that is. Conditions should be very good for bowling today, very stop start and some swing about.
Edmund Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 I believe in miracles since you came along. You sexy thing Declared. Looks like you two wont be up to late tonight.
Milky Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 Ponting will not be happy with that! Looks dodgey on replay
Brainy Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009   Will never forget de Villiers last summer though.
Flynny Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 Can't see us not winning from here. Touch wood and that.
Corky Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 Katich was a bit unlucky because of the no-ball situation, but with Hughes, we've seen 8/9 replays and they still can't conclusively prove the ball bounced. Strauss isn't known as a cheat as well. Freddie's bowling superbly.
lou Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 Let's hope it bloody rains Thought you were unlucky with both wickets to be honest. Definate no ball for the 1st and having watched the replays of Straus's catch I personally thought it had touched the floor but they should have least referred it. No way could the umpires have been 100% Still happy to take it though
