Guest Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 You would be surprised how quickly these things can be erected in comparison to permanent standing. You've left yourself wide open to abuse with that one!!
Edmund Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 You've left yourself wide open to abuse with that one!! Awaits Bilo/Daggers/Schrenchel's witty remark. <_<
lcfc_jme Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 Sky are fcking wankers. I despise them for shitting over fans of EVERY club week-in, week-out to accomodate people who have no intention whatsoever of ever going to games. ****s. Hope Tigers lose. Oh, and I'll probably still go to the games that are moved.
lou Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 Just save your time and money and go to a differwent away game. Newcastle isn't the be all and end all.For example the aways at Sheffield will probably be more fun anyway. Plus their closer. My thoughts exactly that climb to the away bit is horrendous and youre miles from the pitch - I need binoculurs to identify the players but then again thats probably my age. Dont get me wrong Im gutted as I didnt want to miss any away games this season and my Daughter was lookin forward to her 1st visit to the Toon, but I have no annual leave left til October and have to be in work for 7am the next day so cannot go. QPR I'll have to take a days leave and go down early but not very happy of course.

Depending on crowd numbers wouldn't surprise me if Newcastle move the away fans and not open up the third tier.
Sods Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 Its inconveniant but I think the right people will now go to the Newcastle away game.

Guest Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 Why the fork couldn't they move our game at home to WBA to the friday night the following week? Tossers.
Webbo Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 Who are "the right people"? They're real fans. The ones who think home games are beneath them, but go to about 10 away games every season.

C-man Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 They're real fans. The ones who think home games are beneath them, but go to about 10 away games every season. Yeah good one. Lou, I think Sods was talking about the 'right' sort of people to creating a good atmosphere. Something we don't get when we find 2 or 3k extra away fans from somewhere.

I understand why he said it and to a certain extent I agree but then there's something about that elitist attitude that I fucking hate. It could probably have been phrased better I suppose.

Thats my point exactly! Many "right people" cant go now due to this bloody date change

Brilliant. Yeah it definately wasn't worded right, it was either that or well at least the day trippers won't be out in force. Either way i knew just after that post it wouldn't go down well, it definately didn't seem to be elitist. My main point is that I don't enjoy going to an away game where we take large numbers and many that go to few away games, Cov 6k for instance and the whole end sits down and dosen't make noise. Yes these guys have a right to go to away games and also im not saying if you don't go to Barnsley away on a tuesday night your not a real fan as well as if people don't go to Newcastle.

Fair enough mate. I'm sure you can understand why the phrase "right people" might comes across as elitist though... but everything you've said above I pretty much agree with.

Fair enough it did come across a bit wrong then.... Ive been to Plymouth, Southampton, Tranmere, Brighton and God knows else where in midweek over the years just cant physically do this Toon one now. Im definately not a day tripper, just sayin its not just the part timers that have been inconvenienced

We took 6k to Chelsea and there was no complaints about the atmosphere that night. Although some of the day trippers betrayed themselves by dancing to Chelsea Dagger after the final whistle..
Guest ttfn Posted 21 July 2009 Posted 21 July 2009 Unbelievably the Crystal Palace v Peterborough game has also been moved to the Bank Holiday now. So Sky have us playing on a Monday night when they already have another Championship game on that night. Absolutely disgraceful, they now have no reason whatsoever to have us play on the Monday night

You don't seriously think Sky Sports would schedule two games at the same time do you? Why would they do that when they can keep their favourite brand of couch potato fan watching their channel all day long?

Why would they do that when they can keep their favourite brand of couch potato fan watching their channel all day long? It's a 5.15 kick off actually, not that I'm saying it clashes, but they've got a game on the evening - one which makes sense in terms of fans travelling, so why have ours as well? Makes no sense
Ford Super Sunday Posted 21 July 2009 Posted 21 July 2009 It makes perfect sense really 2 live games, a feast of football on Bank Holiday Monday, just what they want. 5:15 is not a fantastic time for a game to kick off... 7:45 is... to be able to have 2 games back to back, what a great draw for their network. Incidentally, the Palace-Boro game was originally scheduled for 5:15pm on SATURDAY, but it was moved to Monday so Sky could show Arsenal-Man Utd live in that timeslot instead, now that is annoying, having your game re-arranged twice.

Makes no sense My apologies. My point remains valid though. The more football they can cram on the box the better as far as those nobends are concerned.
