maddog Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 I don't see what the problem is. You can all see the game if you don't want to travel down at that time, it's a win win situation. I wonder how many of you moaning about Sky actually have it a few i suspect. Id just like to add i've never had Sky because we're too poor Walking down the pub and watching the game sounds a lot easier than getting down London for the game, and cheaper.

I hope you ducked when the point went shooting past your head. On second thoughts, I hope you didn't......

Might be for you, but others want to go, and now possibly can't/ will find it difficult, more difficult than it needs to be.
Floating Fox Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 I see mad dog is still a tit. Thats fooooooooooking unbelivably shit. I can't get out of my duties here till 4 at the earliest...and 4 hours on the train? Fook. This was gonna be one of the few away games I could make without having to take any leave! Boys we will have to make our big game down here in Plymoff! I have a house for you to stay in for free so should be a good weekend like

I don't anymore, I know Maybes doesn't and I'm sure Lisa's mentioned she doesn't before also. Giggle on willy puller.
C-man Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 I'm gutted for the people who's plans this has ruined but for me Sky Sports will actually be allowing me to view 2 more matches than I would have if it wasn't there. I couldn't go to the Newcastle game on the Saturday 'cos of Reading Festival but I'll now be making the long trip up from Berkshire. I don't think I could afford to go to Q.P.R with the combination of the hugely expensive tickets and two other away games in October, but with it being on T.V. now I'll be able to watch them in Sheffield. Cheers then Sky.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 The Newcastle game isn't a problem for me, whether I go by coach or with my mate, that is before my uni year starts and I will be alright. It is games like QPR and the Tuesday night away games (granted, not moved by Sky) that will be the problem, I hope and pray to the non-existant god that my timetable is kind to me, and Tuesday isn't fooking packed with lecutres, or that they finish ridiculously late, else I am gonna have to do some swapping. Sky can go and **** themselves royally, while I understand them moving games, it is so crap, I mean why is QPR-Leicester going to be a rip-roaring, end to end entertaining affair, it's frustrating. But we would be £2.5m out of pocket if we didn't comply, so we have no choice I suppose.
C-man Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 I'd love for a club to say 'fuck you Sky we're not messing about our fans for you, you cunts' but I take it that legal proceedings would ensue.

You do understand the difference between watching the game in a pub and actually going to the game and supporting your team as most on this forum prefer don't you? It isn't a win-win situation for those who had booked train tickets, hotel rooms and made arrangements for a Saturday night out in London. It isn't a win-win situation for those who were looking forward to a day in London (myself included) combined with a match, which are always special. You miss the point by talking about the costs, a lot of fans would be more than happy to spend a few extra quid on travelling to the game and having the experience of an epic day in London. You'll often hear people talking about legendary trips away from home, you won't hear them talking about legendary trips to the pub to watch the game.

The best thing for a club to do would be to lay on free transport when they mess us around...Chelsea put on a free Football Special to Everton when they got messed around.

This is possibly the most sensible post in this thread. By going to the Pub to watch the game, you're going to be spending money on drinks and possibly food anyway, so I'd prefer to just spend the extra money on actually traveling to the match.

Craig Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 Been informed by a Tigers source that we will not be playing our match vs Sheffield United on Boxing Day due to the Tigers having a match at Welford Road (Sale) on the same day. I remember reading something a while back saying that we are no longer able to play matches on the same day as them, so it could feasibly be true. Be a bit of a kick in the teeth if it is true, as it'd be a sure sign that Tigers matches are given priority, meaning we may have to brace ourselves for more fixtures changes on top of this

hairy Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 I thought the two clubs had agreed to take it in turns changing dates. Its probably just bad luck that Boxing Day is City's turn.

Craig Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 Is it now on the 27th? I'm not sure, all i've heard is that Tigers are playing their game on Boxing Day, so we'll be moving to another date.

lou Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 Is it now on the 27th? Wont most ppl be back at work then, unless its an evening game? FFS!!! No footy on Boxing Day?? That would be a travesty IMO. Gives me a good excuse to avoid going to the Inlaws every year!

lou Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 27th is a Sunday this year fair enough... I should have looked at a calendar! Still sucks though!
Ford Super Sunday Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 If that is true it really is a disgrace. We play Sheff Utd on the 26th, but we play Doncaster on the 28th. So we can't play on the 27th, unless we are going to move doncaster aswell, which is pointless when the Tigers can kick off on the 27th, FFS!

Ahh yeah didnt think of that... cant see us moving the Boxing day fixture its gonna cause too much hassle. Maybe theyll make them move theirs or just change kick off time for one of them?
