Joe. Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 From a Posh fan off the Football Forum: If anyone remembers me saying two CCC clubs put a seven figure offer in for CMS, they were Leicester & Bristol City. Source from inside the club. I didn't think you had that kinda money but there we go. Not sure it's worthy of its own thread like, but there's not a lot else to talk about at the moment. Just thought you might be interested to know...
dandannieldanok Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Would rather have McLean as a personal preference, just seems a more natural goalscorer to me even if CMS arguably had a better season.
Mark Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Would rather have McLean as a personal preference, just seems a more natural goalscorer to me even if CMS arguably had a better season. Not at all, needs 6 or 7 chances to score at L1/2 level. CMS is a better all round striker.
Ozwin Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 I'd expect they'd want a **** load for him. He's a pretty vital player for them aint he?
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Trust me, CMS and McClean are not Championship quality. They both need 5 chances to score
Joe. Posted 2 July 2009 Author Posted 2 July 2009 Posh fans reckon they'd want £5m for him, which clearly nobody would pay.
Fox92 Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Posh fans reckon they'd want £5m for him, which clearly nobody would pay. Yes, Celtic wanted three of there players; Mackail-Smith, Maclean and Boyd and Darren Ferguson wanted £5 million each On the Mackail-Smith note, he is a good player like Andy Keogh, obviousley another link, but they are both the same player to Matt Fryatt and we need a big man really. If these transfers did happen, who is NP going to play? Surely he wouldn't drop Matty because of his goals last season and he aint 'gunna drop big Stevie because he is a big man and we cannot play small-small. A big man please!
Lovejoy Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Last season they were good players at L1 level. This season they won't cut the mustard.
Mark Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Last season they were good players at L1 level. This season they won't cut the mustard. like our current front two..?
The Doctor Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Last season they were good players at L1 level. This season they won't cut the mustard. a similar view was expressed last summer when they came up from L2.
Salieri Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 a similar view was expressed last summer when they came up from L2. Exactly. They've both banged in pretty much a goal every other game for Posh and there's no evidence to suggest that they can't continue to prosper at Championship level.
alex Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 They played us off the park at London Road, and CMS was absolutely superb that day I thought.
Dan Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 like our current front two..? Thats the worry, I can see it being either Fryatt and Howard or two new strikers, can't see him dropping just one for some reason.
jimmer Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 like our current front two..? Thats a bit unfair. Stevie came into a losing side and had no time to gel. Saw some excellent shifts put in by him last term, he's done it before at this level, why can't he do it again? better squad around him? more creative midfielders? I have faith in both of them, think they will do us proud this term. Thats not to say we don't need anyone. Strong competition is always needed.
Tommeh Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 They played us off the park at London Road, and CMS was absolutely superb that day I thought. That he was. Didn't do much at Our place however but cut the lad some stick he was up against Tunchev. Would be an excellent signing but can't see it, posh hardly need the money.
StanSP Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 I'd rather we had George Boyd to be honest. A few of my mates who support Pboro say that he is a better player than CMS. He works harder for the team.
The Doctor Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 while Boyd was at stevenage he was known as the white pele
maddog Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 Trust me, CMS and McClean are not Championship quality. They both need 5 chances to score So does Fryatt
The Doctor Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 So does Fryatt in all honesty i can't see why people are complaining about this. as you've said the supposedly better fryatt needs just as many chances to score and yet everyone saying we would be better sticking with fryatt and howard. yet these same people were asking for us to sign more strikers and were probably the ones on fryatts back after the last couple of seasons in the championship and howards back for the majority of last season
Dan Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 Fryatt and Howard have both earned a chance but i'm not confident Fryatt will deliver at all, it would be harsh to drop him after getting this many goals but we really have got to spend for a proven, Championship goal getter and that is something we don't have atm (don't say Campbell, hes a nob). Mackail-Smith is a good player but yet again he is unproven at Championship level, hes like the older version of Cox, has pace and is only proven at lower league.
