Wickstead Park - The Comedy Tent (c.1996)

Kettering was beckoning, she fancied a lark

Underneath the silky sky in wickstead park

They started to argue,

He slapped her on her shell-like

'Stuff the bumpy slide'

But it's her favourite ride

Something petty, roller coaster, wasted tickets

She liked her fluffy teddy, now she tries to kick it

It's ugly, it's vile

It doesn't make her smile

'Well, you know you should be grateful,

It's very tasteful'

From the start you couldn't help but criticise

Her dreadful driving and her need to trivialise.

Sarcastic, pedantic,

'Your thighs are elephantic'

Well, you know you will be walking

Home, you are so appalling.

Close your eyes and say you're sorry

Look at her - you think she's lovely

Violence is not the answer

As soon as you're born they make you feel small

By giving you no time instead of it all

Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all

A working class hero is something to be

A working class hero is something to be

They hurt you at home and they hit you at school

They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool

Till you're so fcuking crazy you can't follow their rules

A working class hero is something to be

A working class hero is something to be

When they've tortured and scared you for 20-odd years

Then they expect you to pick a career

When you can't really function you're so full of fear

A working class hero is something to be

A working class hero is something to be

Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV

And you think you're so clever and classless and free

But you're still fcuking peasants as far as I can see

A working class hero is something to be

A working class hero is something to be

There's room at the top they are telling you still

But first you must learn how to smile as you kill

If you want to be like the folks on the hill

A working class hero is something to be

If you want to be a hero just follow me

If you want to be a hero well just follow me

What's wrong with the world, mama

People livin' like they ain't got no mamas

I think the whole world addicted to the drama

Only attracted to things that'll bring you trauma

Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism

But we still got terrorists here livin'

In the USA, the big CIA

The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK

But if you only have love for your own race

Then you only leave space to discriminate

And to discriminate only generates hate

And when you hate then you're bound to get irate, yeah

Madness is what you demonstrate

And that's exactly how anger works and operates

Man, you gotta have love just to set it straight

Take control of your mind and meditate

Let your soul gravitate to the love, y'all, y'all

People killin', people dyin'

Children hurt and you hear them cryin'

Can you practice what you preach

And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us

Send us some guidance from above

'Cause people got me, got me questionin'

Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love (The love)

Where is the love (The love)

Where is the love

The love, the love

It just ain't the same, always unchanged

New days are strange, is the world insane

If love and peace is so strong

Why are there pieces of love that don't belong

Nations droppin' bombs

Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones

With ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young

So ask yourself is the lovin' really gone

So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong

In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin'

in

Makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends

Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother

A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover

The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug

If you never know truth then you never know love

Where's the love, y'all, come on (I don't know)

Where's the truth, y'all, come on (I don't know)

Where's the love, y'all

People killin', people dyin'

Children hurt and you hear them cryin'

Can you practice what you preach

And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us

Send us some guidance from above

'Cause people got me, got me questionin'

Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love (The love)

Where is the love (The love)

Where is the love

The love, the love

I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder

As I'm gettin' older, y'all, people gets colder

Most of us only care about money makin'

Selfishness got us followin' our wrong direction

Wrong information always shown by the media

Negative images is the main criteria

Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria

Kids wanna act like what they see in the cinema

Yo', whatever happened to the values of humanity

Whatever happened to the fairness in equality

Instead in spreading love we spreading animosity

Lack of understanding, leading lives away from unity

That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' under

That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' down

There's no wonder why sometimes I'm feelin' under

Gotta keep my faith alive till love is found

People killin', people dyin'

Children hurt and you hear them cryin'

Can you practice what you preach

And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us

Send us some guidance from above

'Cause people got me, got me questionin'

Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love (The love)

Where is the love (The love)

Where is the love (The love)

Where is the love (The love)

Where is the love (The love)

Where is the love (The love)

Hello, hello, hello (ha, ha, ha)

You never listen to a word that I said

You only seen me

For the clothes that I wear

Or did the interest go so much deeper

It must have been

The colour of my hair

The public image

What you wanted was never made clear

Behind the image was ignorance and fear

You hide behind this public machine

Still follow same old scheme

Public image

Two sides to every story

Somebody had to stop me

I'm not the same as when I began

I will not be treated as property

Public image

Two sides to every story

Somebody had to stop me

I'm not the same as when I began

It's not a game of monopoly

Public image

Public image

You got what you wanted

The public image belongs to me

It's my entrance

My own creation

My grand finale

My goodbye

Public image

Goodbye

Good times for a change

See, the luck I've had

Can make a good man turn bad

So please please please

Let me, let me, let me

Let me get what I want

This time

Haven't had a dream in a long time

See, the life I've had

Can make a good man bad

So for once in my life

Let me get what I want

Lord knows, it would be the first time

Lord knows, it would be the first time

Yeah theres been times in my life I needed help to make money

But why everything I love you manage to take from me?

Yet you stand there an question a n***a that tries hard

and finds a way when you keep dealing them FUCKED up cards!

You make mistakes like ME far as I can see

I think its a mockery whenever rich niggas win the lottery

Gave us Busch twice God I hate to be rude

But you let skinny n****s starve give obese niggas food

THE NERVE of you telling me I don't deserve to stay here

When you gave us drugs and GUNS you put AIDS here!

Take a look at you, your actions are cold hearted

The harsh shit is you bring babies in the world retarded

I know most my actions put me in a cell

But how you mad at me when you put me in the hell.

When i was young, this was.......Quite simply...the best ever.

Imagine there's no Heaven

It's easy if you try

No hell below us

Above us only sky

Imagine all the people

Living for today

Imagine there's no countries

It isn't hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

And no religion too

Imagine all the people

Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions

I wonder if you can

No need for greed or hunger

A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people

Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will live as one

This one i heard last month... and perhaps isnt the most important song ever..but, if your young and thinking about getting out and doing something...

Living underneath a gray cloud

When nothing ever changes

I couldn't be any less proud

The heart of this town has grown cold

I'm gonna get out before i get too old

There in a better time than now

'cause all that we ever hear

Is things will be better come next year

They never, ever

Get any better

And i don't care what you've got in store

Because i'm not gonna wait anymore

This is our moment in the sun

This is our time to run

Because there's nothing left for us here

There's nothing left for us anymore

So please don't be concerned

If we never return

Because there's nothing left for us here

There's nothing left for us here anymore

There's no future for us here in this place

And no one ever changes

They're all living in yesterday

And we never impressed them

Maybe we never will

We're either running too fast

Or standing too still

We made up our minds

There's nothing now to make us stay

'cause all that we ever hear

Is things will be better come next year

They never, ever

Get any better

And i don't care what you've got in store

Because i'm not gonna wait anymore

This is our moment in the sun

This is our time to run

Because there's nothing left for us here

(there's nothing left for us here)

There's nothing left for us anymore

Please don't be concerned

If we never return

Because there's nothing left for us here

(there's nothing left for us here)

There's nothing left for us here

Well this is the right place

And this is the right time

For our moment in the sun

Moment in the sun. go!

And i don't care what you've got in store

(don't care what you've got in store)

Because i'm not gonna wait anymore

(i'm not gonna wait anymore)

No i don't care what you've got in store

(don't care what you've got in store)

Because i'm not gonna wait anymore

This is our moment in the sun

This is our time to run

Because there's nothing left for us here

There's nothing left..

And don't pretend to be concerned

If we never return

Because there's nothing left for us here

(there's nothing left for us here)

There's nothing left for us here

You were born here (you were born here)

Will you die here (will you die here)

Because there's nothing left for us here

(nothing left for us here)

There's nothing left for us here

You were born here (you were born here)

But will you die here (die here)

Because there's nothing left for us here

(nothing left for us here)

There's nothing left for us here

And i don't care what you've got in store

Because i'm not gonna wait around here anymore

Come Together - The Beatles

As always written by the best songwriter of all time Mr. Lennon with help from the second greatest songwriter of all time Mr. McCartney.

Come Together is not my favourite song, I just like the wierd lyrics, Day Tripper is my favourite song of all time!

Come Together

Here come old flattop he come grooving up slowly

He got joo-joo eyeball he one holy roller

He got hair down to his knee

Got to be a joker he just do what he please

He wear no shoeshine he got toe-jam football

He got monkey finger he shoot coca-cola

He say "I know you, you know me"

One thing I can tell you is you got to be free

Come together right now over me

He bag production he got walrus gumboot

He got Ono sideboard he one spinal cracker

He got feet down below his knee

Hold you in his armchair you can feel his disease

Come together right now over me

He roller-coaster he got early warning

He got muddy water he one mojo filter

He say "One and one and one is three"

Got to be good-looking 'cause he's so hard to see

Come together right now over me

Ugly by The Stranglers

But it's understandable that ugly people have got complexes

I mean it seems to me that ugly people don't have a chance

It's only the children or the fooking wealthy who tend to be good looking

An ugly fart

Attracts a good looking

Chick, if he's got money

Smithers-Jones by The Jam. Lyrics by Bruce Foxton

Here we go again, it's Monday at last,

He's heading for the Waterloo line,

To catch the 8 a.m. fast, its usually dead on time,

Hope it isn't late, got to be there by nine.

Pin stripe suit, clean shirt and tie,

Stops off at the corner shop, to buy The Times

'Good Morning Smithers-Jones'

'How's the wife and home?'

'Did you get the car you've been looking for?'

Let me get inside you, let me take control of you,

We could have some good times,

All this worry will get you down,

I'll give you a new meaning to life - I don't think so.

Sitting on the train, you're nearly there

You're part of the production line,

You're the same as him, you're like tin-sardines,

Get out of the pack, before they peel you back.

Arrive at the office, spot on time,

The clock on the wall hasn't yet struck nine,

'Good Morning Smithers Jones'

'The boss wants to see you alone'

'I hope its the promotion you've been looking for'

'Come in Smithers old boy'

'Take a seat, take the weight off your feet'

'I've some news to tell you'

'There's no longer a position for you' -

'Sorry Smithers Jones'.

Put on the kettle and make some tea

It's all a part of feeling groovie

Put on your slippers turn on the TV

It's all a part of feeling groovie

It's time to relax, now you've worked your arse off

But the only one smilin' is the sun tanned boss

Work and work and work and work till you die

There's plenty more fish in the sea to fry

IM GONNA STAY IN BED ALL DAY

I'M NOT GONNA HEAR A WORD YOU SAY

IT'S GONNA BE A LIFE OF STYLE FOR ME

ELECTRIC BLANKETS,PILLOWS,FIRE,AND TV

TAKE A LOOK OUTSIDE

THOSE LIVELY ARTS ARE ON THE SLIDE

AND CULTURE'S JUST A BORE

WHEN YOU'RE ANGRY ,YOUNG AND POOR

BUT IF I GOT MY WAY

THOSE IDLE RICH WOULD PAY

WHEN THE DISCUSSION STARTS

ON THE LIVELY ARTS

I'M GONNA BE A LAZY SLOB

STUFF THE FOLKS AND SOD THE JOB

AND TELL THE FOREMAN THAT I'M ILL

AND IN A WEEK I'LL BE HERE STILL

MY DADDY WAS A BANKROBBER

BUT HE NEVER HURT NOBODY

HE JUST LOVED TO LIVE THAT WAY

AND HE LOVED TO STEAL YOUR MONEY

SOME IS RICH, AND SOME IS POOR

THAT'S THE WAY THE WORLD IS

BUT I DON'T BELIEVE IN LYING BACK

SAYlN' HOW BAD YOUR LUCK IS

SO WE CAME TO JAZZ IT UP

WE NEVER LOVED A SHOVEL

BREAK YOUR BACK TO EARN YOUR PAY

AN' DON'T FORGET TO GROVEL

THE OLD MAN SPOKE UP IN A BAR

SAID I NEVER BEEN IN PRISON

A LIFETIME SERVING ONE MACHINE

IS TEN TIMES WORSE THAN PRISON

IMAGINE IF ALL THE BOYS IN JAIL

COULD GET OUT NOW TOGETHER

WHADDA YOU THINK THEY'D WANT TO SAY TO US?

WHILE WE WAS BEING CLEVER

SOMEDAY YOU'LL MEET YOUR ROCKING CHAIR

COS THAT'S WHERE WE'RE SPINNING

THERE'S NO POINT TO WANNA COMB YOUR HAIR

WHEN IT'S GREY AND THINNING

RUN RABBIT RUN

STRIKE OUT BOYS, FOR THE HILLS

I CAN FIND THAT HOLE IN THE WALL

AND I KNOW THAT THEY NEVER WILL

I deliberately didn't, because if people know who it is they might have preconceived notions and not bother to read it, in the same way that you'd turn the radio off if they said that they were about to play a new Snow Patrol song.

Needless to say, mine was the Smiths; 'Stretch Out and Wait'

Thanks, I knew I recognised it but just couldnt remember which song. I love most Smiths lyrics to be fair. :)

Green Day - Time of your Life (or to Lib, Good Riddance :P)

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road

Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go

So make the best of this test, and don't ask why

It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.

I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind

Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time

Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial

For what it's worth it was worth all the while

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.

I hope you had the time of your life.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.

I hope you had the time of your life.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.

I hope you had the time of your life.

Bruce Cockburn - Call it democracy - Funny name, great song:-

padded with power here they come

international loan sharks backed by the guns

of market hungry military profiteers

whose word is a swamp and whose brow is smeared

with the blood of the poor

who rob life of its quality

who render rage a necessity

by turning countries into labour camps

modern slavers in drag as champions of freedom

sinister cynical instrument

who makes the gun into a sacrament--

the only response to the deification

of tyranny by so-called "developed" nations'

idolatry of ideology

north south east west

kill the best and buy the rest

it's just spend a buck to make a buck

you don't give a flying fook

about the people in misery

IMF dirty MF

takes away everything it can get

always making certain that there's one thing left

keep them on the hook with insupportable debt

see the paid-off local bottom feeders

passing themselves off as leaders

kiss the ladies shake hands with the fellows

open for business like a cheap bordello

and they call it democracy

and they call it democracy

and they call it democracy

and they call it democracy

see the loaded eyes of the children too

trying to make the best of it the way kids do

one day you're going to rise from your habitual feast

to find yourself staring down the throat of the beast

they call the revolution
