I think the deathlist competition is pretty tastless to be honest. But then again Daggers was the author so it's what you come to expect from that c**t.

This guys about dead and all Hullfox can think about is the deathlist competition? Time and a place and all that. lets hope none of his close family or friends gets cancer and see who's laughing about it then.

Some people are a fu cking joke

thats a very valid post. and i must say i agree with you about the deathlist competition.

its all fun and games when its someone else but if someone was to make a competition about our own parents or siblings trying to guess when they were going to die you would soon see the fury flying around.... especially if they ended up getting sick and/ or dying

That's a big 'if' though, isn't it? And no one has. There's a thread talking about people that we've for the most part never met, don't know we exist and let's be honest will never ever look at this forum.

My sister in law has breast cancer and frankly whatever anyone says about anything on the bloody internet is of no consequence whatsoever, so for me to be offended by this sort of stuff would take a superhuman effort on my part. As with a lot of things that are supposedly offensive, you can choose whether you want to be offended or not.

And no, my family's situation didn't make me feel any better about Jade Goody either. I still thought she was a twat

Thanks for your kind words Tommy, much appreciated.

For the record, my mum has already died from cancer. My brother in Law has cancer. We deal with it as we deal with all of life, with a smile on our faces. Personally I've raised in excess of £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support but it has not stopped me being who I am. You say willy puller, I disagree but even people with their heads shoved so far up their arses are allowed an opinion so you carry on having opinions.

What I'm struggling with though is that you find my comments in this thread distasteful but were quite happy in the Michael Jackson thread to crack jokes.

Rumours have it he died in the Childrens ward having a stroke?
Rest In Plastic

Maybe you could enlighten me as to exactly how this differs.

Its confirmed as spread to his lungs too according to SSN. Poor blokes got a hard fight on his hands its not looking good.

Sorry if it offends anyone but Ive lost close relatives to Cancer/blood clots/murder and car accidents and I dont find the Deathlist thread the least bit offensive, you have to make light of things else youd end up cracking up ffs. I dont wanna spend my whole life gettin in a tiz everytime someone jokes about Epilepsy (which killed my friend and my hubby and Brother have) or Mental illness (which my ex husband had) - no one means it personally its just their way of coping with such things. Really some people need to chill out a bit. Im not trying to play the " Ive suffered more than anyone" card but I could seriously write a novel about some of the shit me and my kids have been through. You cant be so sensitive else youll end up with blood pressure through the roof. Im sure everyone knows someone whos died from some illness or another but we all cope with things differently

No disrespect to anyone :)

:appl:

The most sensible posts on the subject of the deathlist. Nothing wrong with making light of situations that we otherwise find upsetting.

But you surely understand how some people might not like it?

If Im not mistaken there is a "bad taste disclaimer" in the Thread title saying it may offend. If someone thinks it may offend them they dont have to read it?

Exactly right. Also, anybody who posts here regularly will be more than aware of Daggers' edgy sense of humour.

You often know the tone of the thread to follow just by checking who started it.

Can this thread get back vaguely on topic so I don't have to start deleting posts? I wouldn't mind but the Tommys and the Ajax' of this world most likely couldn't have given a shit about Big John before they read this, it's not like you've got some real heartfelt interest. There are plenty of threads around Foxes Talk in which you can show off how much of a caring, good soul you are - let's not turn this one into an argument unnecessarily.

Just read in the paper his kid is only a year old, and he might not live to see his 2nd child, due in November born. So sad.

Lance Armstrong's cancer was testicular, which had then spread to his brain and lungs. As we all know, he made a full recovery etc etc. I would like to hope that Hartson, his family and friends cling onto this hope.

Lets hope that his fitness means he the docs have more capablitity to treat it agressively. I am always amazed that athletes can miss the signs of cancer until it reaches this stage. I guess John was unlucky in that it coincided with him stopping his training etc.

Best of Luck to John and his family.

Former footballer John Hartson is getting stronger and has made an "excellent recovery" from a second operation on his brain, doctors say.

It is hoped the 34-year-old, who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this month, will be able to begin chemotherapy treatment soon.

The pre-planned operation to drain fluid was performed on the ex-Arsenal, Celtic and Wales star at the weekend.

His family said said he was receiving excellent care at hospital in Swansea.

Hartson, a father-of-three, has testicular cancer and doctors also found the disease had spread to his brain and lungs.

He had emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain soon after his diagnosis and resumed radiotherapy treatment soon after.

Since then he has remained critically ill in intensive care at Swansea's Morriston Hospital.

Dr Peter Matthews, critical care consultant at Abertawe Bro Morgannwg (ABM) University NHS Trust, said it was hoped Hartson's physical condition would continue to improve with the multidisciplinary care he is receiving.

In a statement he said: "John Hartson remains under the care of our critical care team and neurosurgeons at Morriston Hospital.

"Following previous emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain, a pre-planned neurosurgical drainage procedure was performed at the weekend from which he has made an excellent recovery.

"We hope that he will be in a position to advance his cancer treatment (chemotherapy) as soon as possible."

A statement released by Hartson's family said: "John is getting excellent care from all the staff at the hospital and all the family are here to give John as much support as we can.

"We're delighted he's been able to make some progress but realise that he still has a long way to go.

"The support we are receiving from friends and people around the world is a fantastic lift to us all."

At last a bit of good news. :)

Keep fighting John.

Hartson's relief at winning cancer battle

Former Arsenal striker John Hartson has spoken of his relief at being told cancer has been virtually eradicated from his body.

The ex-Wales international said hearing the news that he was winning his battle against the disease was "my brightest day for a long time".

He was diagnosed in July with testicular cancer that had spread to his brain.

He was admitted to hospital in his home city of Swansea, south Wales, where he underwent emergency surgery and it was discovered the cancer had spread to his lungs.

He was released from hospital in August after completing the first phase of his chemotherapy treatment.

Hartson, 34, said today: "We've all been through so much and to get the news from the doctors that the cancer is going from me is fantastic.

"I would like to thank every single person that has taken the time to either write to me, phone me or leave a message online, your ongoing support is helping me through the battle of my life and is keeping Sarah and the kids upbeat in such terrifying circumstances.

"I'm not out of the woods yet, though this is my brightest day for a long time."

Hartson's agent Mark Brodie said: "John still has an arduous journey ahead to complete recovery and requires extensive surgery to remove 'abnormal masses' in his lung and brain over the forthcoming months, but this latest news is a huge boost."

He said well-wishers including cyclist and cancer survivor Lance Armstrong, and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, had kept him fighting.

Really happy for him!

Obviously not out of the woods, but great news for him.
