ob1kanobe0 Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 Said it before and will say it again, we do not have a squad of sufficient quality to blow over £1m on a single player. If we have £2m to spend, we would be far better bringing in 4 players at £500k each, who could challenge for a first team place. To be honest, we would have to pay far to much for someone who is proven and on form, so this is not going to happen. We are looking for players who have potential and are up for the step up, or have experience and want to play more football. Anyone who is expecting a striker for over £1m up front is in la la land. Quality is exactly what we need, especially upfront. Milan has the money, he's a multimillionaire and 70? years of age. This is the last in the 3 year plan to get us to the prem.

This is the last in the 3 year plan to get us to the prem. He wants to make money. Whether you have 50p or 50 million, no-one likes to lose out. If he really pushes the boat out and we end up getting relegated again, he won't be too happy!
Jon the Hat Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 Quality is exactly what we need, especially upfront. Milan has the money, he's a multimillionaire and 70? years of age. This is the last in the 3 year plan to get us to the prem. Milan has funded spending in the past using loans, which are now harder to come by and more expensive to maintain. You miss the point anyway, which is that we cannot risk millions on a striker. We need to buy a few less expensive players and spread the risk. We are not looking for the final piece of the jigsaw here, we need a number of players.

Possible team for this season neilsen, tunchev, hobbs, mattock oakley, wellens, king, dyer howard, fryatt Team that got relegated Henderson stearman, macauley, ngotty, mattock hume, worley, oakley, clapham howard, fryatt Better defence, just. Better midfield. Probably better goalie? Better squad.

I think we're in a lot better shape this time around and (getting on topic) think ched evans would be a great signing even if only on loan for the season but unfortunately i dont see it happening

Finnegan Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 I don't get the big wankfest over Ched Evans. Likewise. He's probably better than the strikers we have now but all these people going on about how great he is and how we'd be on a one step plan to the Premiership if we signed him are retarded. How many of you have even seen him play? He's a good player with a fair deal of potential but he's not going to destroy the Championship alone.
ob1kanobe0 Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 It might do if we don't play a keeper well spotted.
Ozwin Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 He was awesome for Norwich when he was on loan there. He's proven at this level that's for sure.
Daggers Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 He was awesome for Norwich And a league apart from what we currently have in the squad. Seems quite reasonable to have a "wankfest" over a player like this seeing as he is the level of quality we'd like to see throughout the squad. I am hereby having that word. Welcome to Wankfest'09!: One decent name among a load of names you've never heard of, the toilets are shit and the burgers are over-priced. Rain guaranteed.
Candidcamera Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 You missed out - better manager. I still think we need another striker and another midfielder.
DB11 Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 I don't get the big wankfest over Ched Evans. Someone's clearly never signed him on FM!
Babylon Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 Portsmouth made it to the Premiership by bringing in quality players, and paying good money for them, but somehow M.M. is not doing that here We haven't sold Peter Crouch for £6m and there is much more money in this league now than there use to be. Is it that he doesn' have the money, or is it a lack of faith in N.P.? Personally I think it is the latter. He was very close to Harry Redknapp, but I don't think that is the case with N.P.
coale39 Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 If he doesnt agree to come, can someone just kidnap him?
ob1kanobe0 Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 If he doesnt agree to come, can someone just kidnap him? Now we need a football squad and a snatch squad
coale39 Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 Now we need a football squad and a snatch squad Yeh, who needs MM money.
Leicesterboi Posted 17 July 2009 Author Posted 17 July 2009 Hi Guys, Make of this what you will... Ched Evans was spotted at Manchester Airport earlier this morning. He could be travelling to meet up with the MCFC squad in South Africa (didnt travel initially due to illness), or is it possible that he could be flying to Slovenia for talks with NP and MM? As they are both out of the country at the moment, any deal involving us and Ched would be a few weeks away until we retun from Slovenia, unless of course he is going to meet up with NP today? Nothing has been confirmed at this end and my mentor is hoping to get more information as the day goes on...

Dan Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 Someone's clearly never signed him on FM! Good one mate. Thing is i've checked his stats before on it and hes incredible, often ends up at Chelsea Regarding the player, i'd be shocked if he came here, he will probably go to someone like Burnley.
lcfc_jme Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 We won't sign him. Though if we did, and also snared Keogh, I'd probably make a sex-wee over whoever at the club finalised the deals.

alex Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 I can't see a new striker coming in until DJ has left personally, unless it's a freebie or loan.
lcfc_jme Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 Even if it was Bernie?! If Bernie managed to finalise a monetary transaction that didn't involve too much alcohol I'd be massively shocked. But yes, if it was him, I'd reach for a clothes-peg and get on with it.
