Daggers Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 Im sure Lisa will join us! I believe her silence in this thread so far is testament to the joy she is still trying to find words to express.
Bert Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 Latest Development:As part of my uni degree in Sports Journalism, I am currently working for the local Manchester Evening Newspaper. The word coming out of the City of Manchester Stadium is that Ched Evans would prefer a permanent move as he see's his chances at City, what with their spending power, very limited. In terms of Leicester, it appears we would not want to pay the £4million asking price and are looking more in the region of £2.5million. However, Burnley,Cardiff & Sheff Utd look more likely to capture his signature due to their willigness to match the fee. Evans himself would prefer a move to either Leicester or Sheff Utd as he doesn't want to move too far. All I can say is Milan get your chequebook out!! I'll keep you posted. Geography isn't the poor dears strong point then.
Daggers Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 Like Cardiff, Burnley or the Blades are going to stump up 4 mil!
Bert Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 Like Cardiff, Burnley or the Blades are going to stump up 4 mil! Burnley have spent £3m on a striker. Can't seem them splashing more wonga.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 If Milan is serious about getting promotion. He needs to seriously look at Ched potential real good quality Prem player of the future.
Bryn Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 No chance, Milan's skint. Can't really blame him for not throwing money around, I think he's done pretty well by us considering the economic climate at the mo.
jimmer Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 I wouldn't say he was skint! Right to be cautious i'n my eyes, cant just throw money around willy nilly. (like the 07-08 season )
Finnegan Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 Daggers has a point about other clubs and the fee being batted around, though. Cardiff won't be paying out that much after Chopra, Sheff Utd aren't likely to want to pay out £4mil and you'd be a brave, brave Premiership side to spend £4m to bring him into your starting line up? Besides, there were stories not so long ago that City'd let him go to Celtic for under £2m. I reiterate I really can't see him coming here, I don't even see a credible news source linking him to us to be honest? But I'd be surprised if anyone's made to pay that kind of fee.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 This is the type of player we need if we are to make any serious inroads in our attempt to reach the Premiership. Real class, with a quick brain, who can turn a half chance into a goal. He is so good that there is no way M.M. will spend the money required to bring him here, should the opportunity arise. Portsmouth made it to the Premiership by bringing in quality players, and paying good money for them, but somehow M.M. is not doing that here. Is it that he doesn' have the money, or is it a lack of faith in N.P.? Personally I think it is the latter. He was very close to Harry Redknapp, but I don't think that is the case with N.P. However, let's be optomistic, and hope for a miracle!
Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 Can we have a source or it'll be deleted. Cheddar Evans.
ob1kanobe0 Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 If Milan is serious about getting promotion. He needs to seriously look at Ched potential real good quality Prem player of the future. Agreed, someone like shed, sorry Ched could get crucial goals that win us a game we'd draw, crucial goals in games against promotion rivals that could tip the balance. King would have a club/international link up.
Jon the Hat Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 Said it before and will say it again, we do not have a squad of sufficient quality to blow over £1m on a single player. If we have £2m to spend, we would be far better bringing in 4 players at £500k each, who could challenge for a first team place. To be honest, we would have to pay far to much for someone who is proven and on form, so this is not going to happen. We are looking for players who have potential and are up for the step up, or have experience and want to play more football. Anyone who is expecting a striker for over £1m up front is in la la land.
