flanimal Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 Come on, there's loads of iffy teams in the Premiership who need decent strikers who can offer more money and also guarantee games. If Chet is off, he'll go to one of them. He's not all that anyway, in my opinion.
Smiffy Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 Sky Sports Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell is still hoping to sign Manchester City striker Ched Evans. Blackwell made a £1.5million offer for the Wales international last month and is waiting to see if it will be accepted. Evans is expected to leave the City of Manchester Stadium over the summer due to the competition for a place in Mark Hughes' attack. The signings of Roque Santa Cruz and Carlos Tevez have merely intensified the battle to secure a first-team spot for Evans, who has scored once in 26 appearances - the majority of which have been from the bench. West Brom have been linked with the 20-year-old, but Blades chief Blackwell remains optimistic of clinching a deal for the promising front man. "We've just got to wait and see," Blackwell told the Sheffield Star. "We've put an offer in - everyone knows that - but he's still their player. "Of course we respect that and, naturally, what happens now is largely up to them."
MPH Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 if they had put in an offer last month then my logic tells me it wont of been accepted... come on Mandy.... put a bigger offer in!! 2m plus another 1m when we get promoted. that should do it!
ob1kanobe0 Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 We are back from slovenia today You have to spoil it don't ya
Cropwellfox Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 Source: Today's Sun. CHED EVANS, Manchester City's highly-rated Welsh striker, will complete a £1.5m switch to Sheffield United next week.
Finnegan Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 There you go, 1.5m sounds way more like it. Is, admitedly, within our price range too I'd imagine. I'd certainly rather Evans for the price than Jackson. But you have to be realistic to be honest, if Ched Evans has some of the top Championship clubs lining up to buy him he's hardly coming here. Will lock this on Monday if there's nothing even vaguely hinting he's coming here.

StanSP Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 On the flip side, he's certain to start with us. The only reason he'd move is to play. But he's a good player, so he's likely to start in a top Ch'ship club anyway, like Sheff utd, who sound like they are front-runners to get him.

Think you may be right. Just trying to shine a bit of positive light on it. Oh well, back to howard and fryatt

teblin Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 Because of where we have just come from we will be taking a gamble on a lower league player with potential or someone who did well a couple of years ago and has lost his way a bit or a relative unknown. Hopefully we'll get a couple in and might just suprise a few teams.
Finnegan Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 On the flip side, he's certain to start with us. The only reason he'd move is to play. He'll play at Shef Utd and WBA tbh.
MPH Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 He'll play at Shef Utd and WBA tbh. Bless you for not getting too excited over this!!
Finnegan Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 If there was an official news source linking him to us I'd be posting once every five seconds in this thread, tbh. It's just 100% speculation as it is. Most people have only heard of him through football manager.

Most people have only heard of him through football manager. well, IF the price is around the 1.5m-2m area then this is EXACTLY the sort of player NP would be interested in. Young, promising, would prefer to be playing than sitting on the bench of a potential European place team, exciting to watch, scores goals in even poor teams ( no disrespect intended, Norwich fans!) He has been knocking on the door at Man City for a couple of years now... he would be PERFECT for us...... I would be more shocked to find out we havnt put in a bid than to find out we have...
MPH Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 for Samilktray: oh we will definately get promoted..... whether it happens in 1 season or 50 seasons, i can see it happening at some stage....
Guppy Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 Sheffield United have completed the signing of former Norwich City striker Ched Evans from Premier League fat cats Manchester City.Evans, 20 has signed for the Bramall Lane club in a four year deal believed to be worth £3,840,000 (£20,000 p/w). There has been speculation linking the 9 capped Welsh international to the Lane; and although no official statement has been made as to his signing its suggested that it is already a done deal. He leaves Eastlands having made just 5 (+21) appearances; whilst he scored once in a 6-0 mauling over Portsmouth last season. Evans - Sheff Utd
AjcW Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 20,000 pound a week.... ****iinn hell. No wonder he wasnt on mandys wishlist.
Salieri Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 20,000 pound a week.... ****iinn hell.No wonder he wasnt on mandys wishlist. Exactly what i thought. The (alleged) transfer fee of £1.5 million is reasonable enough and not out of our reach, but 20 grand a week? Not gonna be offering those sort of wages until we make it to the Prem. Shame though, reckon he would have been a great signing.
