another one bites the dust....

Reid: Wanted by Blackpool

Rotherham United striker Reuben Reid is 'mulling' over a move to Championship side Blackpool.

Reid is on the transfer list after handing in a written transfer request earlier this summer and is looking to secure a move before the start of the season.

A £100,000 offer from MK Dons has already been rejected by Rotherham, who have confirmed talks are taking place with Blackpool.

Reports have claimed the Seasiders are prepared to pay £200,000 for Reid, with Millers boss Mark Robins waiting to see how the discussions pan out.

"We are almost there in agreement with Blackpool," said Robins.

"Reuben is mulling it over, but the negotiations are still in their early stages."

You and your ilk are a pathetic disgace. When Paul was younger, he did more than most for City. Short memories haven't you? So the guy is over the hill, but that comes to us all. What have you got to brag about you pathetic little slob, and all your fellow brain dead cronies?

All you lot do is sit on your fat arses and criticise, and have no respect for what the older guys have done in this game.

Go and look yourselves in the mirror when your older, and see what you have done, you bunch of nobodies.

What does playing well in 02/03 have to do with winning promotion in 09/10?! He is not the player he was 7 years ago and now is long past his prime; ship him out asap, or get him to take on a coaching/mentoring role, ala Chrissy 'Hero' Powell. Yes, we have to be loyal to our players, but ultimately we pay our players to win matches - Paul Dickov won't win us matches anymore. Its cruel, but you've gotta face the facts.

Ps. are you Paul Dickov?

Scored 14 goals in 24 starts last yeat, good player, but 750,000 sounds alot for a 35 year old.

but he can change a game in an instant at championship level, i think we should go for it as we need more fire power up front as we got relegated with the 2nd best defence in the league! wack him on a 18 month-2 year contract and see wat he can do.

Reid: Wanted by Blackpool.

Shit! Guess we're gonna get relegated now.

But seriously, Reid would've been a good signing - at £200,000 that's a bargain.

What did I say? Yet another cretin who is happy to survive in the Championship.

How pathetic can our support get?

Q.E.D.''''' Our so called supporters, are rapidly becoming the laughing stock of football. Well, I am not laughing you bunch of adolecant pillocks!

Yes, that's right, I just adore Championship football and would be thrilled if we just managed to scrape survival year after year. T. O. O. L.

If you'd have read my posts, you'd have seen that what I, as well as alot of people want, is merely to establish ourselves in the Champiopnship next season, and build from there. Nowhere have I said that it's what I want, but it's what's necessary if we want to realistically push for a promotion place within the next few seasons. Once we've consolidated our position as a Championship side, we'd be better equipped in terms of playing staff, and would have a more realistic chance of signing some more recognised names. At the minute, we don't have that pulling power at all. Waiting, and building, would ensure that any return to the Premiership would not be almost bang on an embarrasing, Derby-esque type situation.

If anything it's "pie in the sky" supporters that expect world domination that are a laughing stock. As Take That said, "Have a little patience". You cock.

all im saying that it is fact that you get knowhere in this league unless you spend big on proven players, no matter the age, better 2 pay extra for phillips who knows the championship like the back of his hand than taking a risk with ried.

Or you pay the price and go down like we did. reid bangs them in, don't get me wrong but he is only proved at lower league level, like beckford he can score 20 a season easily in league 1 as the defenders in that league are pure shite as we saw last season but he isn't a proven striker at a higher level hence why potential promotion clubs such as cardiff, ipswich, boro, newcaslte etc haven't taken the gamble.

He's not even proven at lower league level. He's had ONE good season, in League 2 and some people (who had probably not even heard of him) are creaming over him. Bizarre.

We spent millions on "proven" players two seasons ago and STILL went down.

If Pearson does have money to spend (which I doubt), I'd rather he invested in a prospect from the lower leagues (like Fryatt, but with more mobility) than yet another ageing has-been.

Wouldn't take on Phillips at ANY price.

In case people have forgotten he plays for a club that conned us out of £2.5m a couple of seasons ago. Look how successful Clemence and Campbell were for Brum, and how unsuccessful they have been for us.

I also find it interesting that Campbell is (rightly) slated for telling Sky he doesn't want to play for us, yet comments made by Phillips to the same source amounting to the same thing are conveniently overlooked.

Phillips is becoming more injury-prone in the twilight of his career. He could very easily end up as a Dickov mark 2, living off past glories but on inflated wages.

It would be far better to invest in a younger, quicker, hungrier prospect from the lower leagues.

ummm..... lol

They didnt con us out of any money. We wanted their players, they quoted a price and we WILLINGLY AND KNOWLINGLY CHOSE to pay that money.

Philips on a 1 year deal would be fine - the 750k would most likely include the cost of his wages for the season as well. and lets face it, whatever wages he is paid ( and i doubt it will be the 20k p/w) it would be far better value than the 20k a week we were paying N'Gotty!

and as for things phillips has said amounting to the same thing... when did he say he would want to play for anyone but leicester?

I couldn't give a flying fuck what Dickov did when he was younger, this is the here and now and to be honest he's past it, which is being nice because quite frankly I think he's fucking shit.

Go look in the mirror when I'm older & see what I have done? What a crock of shit.

What wages does Dickov get paid, roughly? Anyone know?

I only read it on here, and I can't remember exactly how much, Reckon it was 6k?

When I read how much it was followed by saying he is our highest paid player which makes me think its not 6k.

Great! Here we have the classic donkey, who knows sweet f.a. about football intelligence. It didn't take long for the first brain dead idiot to come forth, did it.? If N.P. keeps him here, what is he supposed to do? He can only do his best. So, in a nutshell, you total shite hole, blame the manager, not the player. Perhaps you can't understand English. You big asshole, then Nigel big asshole, you asshole. In other words HEE HAW OFF!

Can we at least all agree that Dickov is our last choice striker before we put in players from the youth team? I respect Dickov, but he isn't all that anymore.

And he isn't on the most wages. That's Clemence and Campbell, apparently.

Let's toss Clemence's name in the air,

How good is he, and where will he stand in the coming season? Obviously Nigel still rates him, and after all, Nigel can do no wrong, so most of you say!

Phillips for 750k? Go for it NP! I realise the guy's getting on a little but he's proved consistently that he still has the ability to be a force at Championship level. Comparisons with Dickov are a little wide of the mark in my opinion - Dickov was so good in the past because he would chase down every ball, no matter how futile it appeared, and from these scraps we were able to take advantage. Now his legs have gone he's not able to put in the same milage which is why if we could get rid we should (presumably we can can't however). Phillips has never never been known for pace or chasing - but my the boy can hit a ball! As his goals and value to Birmingham last season showed, he is still able to play a neat pass or belt the ball home given a chance. 750k might seem a lot for a 35/36yo but if that's the price, that's the price.

If we can get in a useful youngster with pace as a fourth choice forward I'd be pretty happy.
