Bert Posted 28 July 2009 Posted 28 July 2009 We retained the ball very well tonight, more importantly, when Wellens was on. I think Howard looked like he took a knock. I may be wrong. N'Guessan hustled and bustled his way through tonight, and in the end looked very tidy. The midfield and back line looks very solid. Got absolutely soaked too. Cheers to Fez for a lift.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 28 July 2009 Posted 28 July 2009 In Pearson we trust Not in the fooking crap league now. Needs to realise that and address it quickly because Milan don't fart about.
Tilley Posted 28 July 2009 Posted 28 July 2009 It was wet. I was cold. The match was shit. We won. The burgers were nice. I can't believe a street name has Garth in it. That is all. Oh, we need a striker.

Dan Posted 28 July 2009 Posted 28 July 2009 Very boring game again but at least we got a win unlike Derby, Howard was our star man tonight as he won virtually everything, Gradel was poor and yet again proved how useless he is at beating a man, Dyer and Wellens both looked good when they came on as did Hobbs. Weale looked solid in goal again and is still yet to concede for Leicester. Must credit Dickov as well he made some good touches of the ball and looked very intelligent, just no final product. N'Guessan took his goal very well and thats about all I can say about the game. Away attendance: 447
Flynny Posted 28 July 2009 Posted 28 July 2009 Is their pitch actually a little bit short or did they just cramp us really well? They looked very up for it but we did an adequate job in the end.
foxoffderby Posted 28 July 2009 Posted 28 July 2009 Ok just had my cuppa fook it was cold and wet at Chesterfield. Had the choice of sitting down or standing up on the terracing...it was pissing it down freezing cold no brainer I went on the terraces. Got soaked but loved it, took me back to my youth Filbo days etc...anyway First half Brown was excellent again, havent seen him put a foot wrong yet pre season loving this guy. Neilson impressed me as well, hes not bad you know. Was expecting him to be like Coatsworth after what the Hearts fans said. Hes ok can tackle, passes well and likes to get forward. They are right about his throw to, it will be a good weapon for us this season. Very happy with this player. Max was his normal self. Hit and miss. More miss than hit really. Same old story crosses normally go to the opposition, corners dont get past the first defender. My personel view, shouldn't start against Swansea The Tunch was ok still lacking match practice. For this reason I would start with Brown and Hobbs first game then ease him later. Howard was his normal self, played well held the ball up etc nothing new. Dickov played ok, his best game in pre season so far some nice flicks. Some of our fans got on his back again which is a shame. Ok hes not good enough anymore but still.. Their number 5 (CB) played very well first half and was the reason why it was 0-0 best player first half. Second half We had a lot more of the ball as we had 1 up top. The best move of the game was down the left hand side, our left back passed to King who spun and turned his marker in one move. It was like a Peter Beadsley turn from back in the day. Through ball to Dyer who made the keeper make a good save. Hobbs was strong at the back N Adams came on second half played well, I hope he starts instead of Max first game. Hes had a good pre season. Just when we thought why did we bother to come up here to get soaked, Dyer played N'Guessan through down the left and he slotted home. Summery Good workout looked decent playing 5 in midfield funnily enough. Solid at the back. If dont get a striker can see Pearson playing 5 across away from home. 442 at walkers.
Joe. Posted 28 July 2009 Author Posted 28 July 2009 Well that was gash. Cold, wet and an equally dismal performance. Nice to get the win and the goal though, well taken from N'Guessan. Ayway, here's my hastily arranged match report.
Sods Posted 28 July 2009 Posted 28 July 2009 My first pre season game, Chesterfield were very up for it and gave us a good game. Brown was good, not sure about Neilson although he didn't do a lot wrong. Gradel was quite frustrating just looked like he didn't know what to do with it at some points and waste a chance, the next minute he would put in a great corner. N'guessan was a lot better up front then out wide didn't really produce much. Howard won everything as per usual and looks like hes going to pick off where he left off at the moment N'guessan should be starting up front with him if Fryatt has very little match practice and Dickov never seemed to gamble of his headers. Dyer looked sharp, Wellens was very calm, strong and don't think gave the ball away. Weale has one quality goal kick on him. Not the most entertaining game but I think our team isn't far off from ready, Sunday will be interesting to see who gets a start.
Joe. Posted 28 July 2009 Author Posted 28 July 2009 I'm hoping: Weale Morrison --- Tunchev --- Hobbs --- MattockOakley --- King --- Wellens --- DyerHoward --- N'Guessan ------------------------------------------------- Until Fryatt comes back, then swap him for Dyer, with N'Guessan moving out to the left hand side.

I would start with Brown instead of the Tunch. I dont think hes ready yet. Apart from that its about right. Not sure about Mattock either maybe Berner

willchafer Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 the chap who said oakley in right midfeild on his teamsheet would he work there?
Craig Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 the chap who said oakley in right midfeild on his teamsheet would he work there? He did alright there last season i thought?
Dan Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 For me: Chris Weale Michael Morrison -- Aleksandar Tunchev -- Jack Hobbs -- Joe MattockDany N'Guessan -- Matt Oakley -- Richie Wellens -- Lloyd DyerSteve Howard -- Leroy Lita?? If we don't get Lita then basically Joe's team.
Guest Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 the chap who said oakley in right midfeild on his teamsheet would he work there? He did alright there last season i thought? He did indeed. In fact, some may argue that he really found his best form out on the right
Fez of Mahrez Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 Good laugh last night, thought we were alright to be honest. Looked very comfortable later in the match, players like O'Neill and Adams slotted in well. Having Wellens and Oakley in the same team will be a real pleasure this season I reckon, so comfortable retaining possession. Better performance than Mansfield and to be honest Dickov was alright. Wayne Brown admitted TWICE that something was his fault. He really is a brute of a centre-back, I love it. I reckon him and Hobbs for the Swansea game. Tunch looked a bit off the pace again last night. Neilson made one really good and important tackle to deny them a clear shot on goal, and he overlapped well even if Gradel never used him. N'Guessan is one of those players that will probably need six or seven chances to score but with Wellens, King and Oakley in the side, he just might get that amount of chances. Dyer injected a bit of urgency when he came on too, I think he'll be important again this year and would probably still get in ahead of N'Guessan if Fryatt was fit. Wasn't the most amazing match ever, but I feel the need to try and counter the Stay-At-Home-And-Moan-About-No-Strikers brigade. Lighten up. Everyone has needs in the transfer market, we should be glad that we only have one.
Toby or not Toby Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 Is their pitch actually a little bit short or did they just cramp us really well? They looked very up for it but we did an adequate job in the end. Yes it is, my mate played a cup final there at the end of last season and i went pitch side at the end and thought the pitch was on the small side.
Raj Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 BOO!!!! 1-0 win against lowly opposition in a friendly??? NP has lost the plot. He was lucky last season and this summer he has already failed to deliver. NP OUT!!!!!! Everyone knows we desperately need a striker. We should have got Owen or atleast Tevez. AND we should buy Martin Fulop. We ARE the MIGHTY LCFC you know. WE demand success! Also we need to move the family Sta..............
Babylon Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 If we don't sign at least 4 strikers NP should get the sack.
Dr The Singh Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 If we don't sign at least 4 strikers NP should get me in the sack. I agree!!

At last someone who says it as it is, I wasn't at the game but it's clear we're going to struggle without at least two more strikers, another goalkeeper, RB, LB, and a defensive killer midfielder in the Tiatto mould. This is a different class of league and it's about time NP realised this and Mandaric opened that big fat wallet and splashed some spondulix around. Can't agree with Owen or Tevez though Raj ones an over the hill injury prone mercenary looking for another pay day and the others a disloyal bastard who'll jump ship to a bigger better club at the first opportunity, I know we're big but a club from abroad would tempt him. Success, Success, Yes, Yes, Yes, At my age I need success now I can't wait to build, I aint got time to wait for England to win the World Cup in 2018 I probably wont even be around then. Give me success Milan you tight fisted arse spend some of that £25mill How many times do the fans need to ask, move the Kop, in fact build on the north stand so we can guarantee getting the massive Kop support in there.
