teblin Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 Good points - The midfield and back four looked very solid and compact i don't remember chesterfield really have a chance or shot of note. Wellens is a touch of class didn't give the ball away, alway available, looks for simple and probing passes. N'guessen is very lively and took his goal well. Wayne Brown was solid and did miss a thing all night. Hobbs looked class when he came on. Adams played well when he came on. Bad points - Neilson whilst looking a steady player looks very 1 paced, would worry me against a fast winger. We didn't create alot(granted this improved when wellens came on) The striker issue which we and nigel all know about. Tunch is not quite ready for a return yet. The idiot sitting in front of me saying that nigel pearson should be sacked becuase he hasn't realised that we need some new strikers. then when i question that we have been trying to sign them, he changed his mind and said because we haven't been trying to sign proven championship players. I'm sure it was andy from long eaton.
davieG Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 From the Merc Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson admitted last night's unimpressive 1-0 win at Chesterfield was a "reality check" for his Championship side. City needed a goal in the last five minutes from Dany N'Guessan to see off the League Two club at Saltergate. While Pearson stopped short of blasting his players, he said there will be plenty of room for improvement in Sunday's final friendly against Real Valladolid. Pearson said: "I'm not that satisfied. If on Saturday we thought we were really making great strides, then this one was a reality check. "We will have to do be a lot better than that. We were a little disjointed at times, which was a surprise, so there is still a bit of work to do and we will play a lot better than that." But Pearson said there were still plenty of positives to take out of the game which was settled by N'Guessan's goal. "We are developing some good habits. We ended up winning the game and we kept another clean sheet," he said. Pearson was pleased with N'Guessan's contribution. The City boss said: "He looked quite useful and when you have got pace like he has then he is always going to be a threat." The only concern for City was Welsh under-21 international Andy King who needed treatment for a first-half knee injury after a heavy challenge. Former Reading man Leroy Lita remains a target for City but Pearson insisted: "I don't like to talk about anyone else's players as I don't like people talking about my players. "If we can improve the squad we will but I can't elaborate on that." City full-back Joe Mattock, currently with England in the under-19 European Championships, has been linked with a £2m move to East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest.
Raj Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 At last someone who says it as it is, I wasn't at the game but it's clear we're going to struggle without at least two more strikers, another goalkeeper, RB, LB, and a defensive killer midfielder in the Tiatto mould. This is a different class of league and it's about time NP realised this and Mandaric opened that big fat wallet and splashed some spondulix around. Can't agree with Owen or Tevez though Raj ones an over the hill injury prone mercenary looking for another pay day and the others a disloyal bastard who'll jump ship to a bigger better club at the first opportunity, I know we're big but a club from abroad would tempt him. Success, Success, Yes, Yes, Yes, At my age I need success now I can't wait to build, I aint got time to wait for England to win the World Cup in 2018 I probably wont even be around then. Give me success Milan you tight fisted arse spend some of that £25mill How many times do the fans need to ask, move the Kop, in fact build on the north stand so we can guarantee getting the massive Kop support in there. And dont forget that Next Seasons' Seaon Tickets will be available to purchase from next Saturday after the game which includes a 5% discount not including a season ticket prepayment tax of 32% and a admin fee of 253 Pounds and 25 pence. And credit and debit cards will incur a fee of 45% and cheques and cash will incur a 24% increase.. I'll be back next week!!!!
Babylon Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 Former Reading man Leroy Lita remains a target for City but Pearson insisted: "I don't like to talk about anyone else's players as I don't like people talking about my players. I thought he was out of contract so surely he could talk about him until the cows come home... or Lita joins someone else.
Bert Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 One more thing I forgot to say - Chesterfield is closed.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 One more thing I forgot to say - Chesterfield is closed. I hope that bloke enjoys his shift at Subway today.
Katy Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 I hope that bloke enjoys his shift at Subway today. Bet you're glad you found our chippeh then! I do believe Bert inhaled his food last night and as for Tilleh - well! Game was a bit meh and could barely see through the sheet of rain that had decided to descend upon us throughout the 90 minutes. Good goal by Dany boy though. I also have one thing to say - MARIO WHITE!
JoeyB Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 Last night i was well annoyed had some right miserable old moaning bastard sat right behind me. Everything we did according to him was wrong, and it just shows how much he knows about the players when in the first half he was moaning about Dyer and then i had to tell him it was N'Guessan! Gradels free kick, this bloke said he should have crossed it, and when gradel took his player on he should of crossed, and then wehn he crossed should of took the player on! he was a right miserable old twat, at least the footie is back!

CosbehFox Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 What did everyone think to the roofless toilets with a slope (so if you are at the bottom ya get pee on ya shoes)? It's like that in their Kop.
Lillehamring Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 I'm hoping: Weale Morrison --- Tunchev --- Hobbs --- MattockOakley --- King --- Wellens --- DyerHoward --- N'Guessan ------------------------------------------------- Until Fryatt comes back, then swap him for Dyer, with N'Guessan moving out to the left hand side. i think it will take a lot to shift dyer, at least it never happened last year.... but i'd go for that except brown for tunch, and berner/mattock
